I feel so bad for Bella, I'm actully waiting to see what other fantasy being gets attached to her. I would hate to have to choose between Jacob and Edward, they're such wonderful guys, and they'e way more alike than they think.

    My favorite excerpt:

Jacob- May the best man win.
    Edward- Good luck, pup.

I hate that one of the bigger villains has my name. It's Victoria-ism at it's worst, we're not all eveil-although I do have my days....

Oh, I love that part. I also love the whole part after Jacob kisses Bella and she's not too happy about it. There are so many pieces of dialogue that I just love!

I also sort of feel bad for Jacob, he didn't do anything wrong...completely wrong anyway, but I still feel bad for him...sorta, I like Edward better. =D

Yeah, i lean toward vamps too, but Jacob is such an awesome person, but I'm seriouly waiting for her to pop up with a gargoyle or something.
Did you here the buzz about the actress portraying Bell not being bland enough. Let's see if they can get an Edward that's hot enough. Just think about it, the hotter they can get Edward to be, the balnder Bell will look in comparison.

I know this probably belongs in a separate thread, and there may be some discussion here already... but has anyone read The Host? How did you like it?

I started it, but I haven't finished it yet. I didn't get into it within the first couple chapters like I did Twilight. I really need to just sit down and make myself read it because I'm sure I'll like it!

    I'm a girl.

    I don't like it.

It's simply not my cup of tea. I'm not one for vampires or anything fantasy for that matter, despite whatever human characteristics they might have. I guess I just found it all to be rather boring. Just my opinion. The writing was good, though. I could appreciate that much.

I like these books. They're good to read only once, though...I tried to reread the entire series just to cure my boredom one day and I had to skip through a lot of stuff because it wasn't entertaining to read over again. Twilight was pretty good, New Moon wasn't as good in my opinion, and Eclipse was probably the best so far. A lot of girls my age love the series solely because they fell in love with Edward Cullen, one of the main characters. In short, Edward is the sexy, irresistable vampire boyfriend of Bella Swan (Bella is the narrator of the story). I like the series because all of the characters are interesting and unique...even the evil ones. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves teenage romance novels :]

My sister in law just read the host and she described it as 300 pages of emotional vomit, but she couldn't put it down.

I just saw the trailer for Twilight, not happy not happy at all. It's gonna be like the Harry Potter movies where itshould be "based on the bestselling..." instead of the "movie version of..." The person pertraying Edward is so not believable as mysterious and captivating, more like a geeky blood sucker. I kope beyond hope that they don't rip this series to shred like they did with Harry Potter.

At least we'll always have the book version if they do this! :) I take peace in the fact that I can always get MY version of Edward/Bella/The Cullens by reading it.

I'm also reading it, and I'm sure it will get better after the first few chapters. I've been so busy lately that I havent been able to read much...or even get on my computer, but I will soon.

Well, what's in the other 300 pages?

And I'm still trying to figure out where she had the time to write the Host! She has 3 kids, and a couple million people waiting for the Breaking Dawn, so she writes something totally different that's longer that the others? Twilight only took her three months! Three months. Two years and I'm still trying to get my plot right! And she also wrote Midnight Sun. I want to read that

Looking at some of the clips and interviews...the actors didn't look very excited. That botherd me...a lot. I want them to want to have the chance to pretend to be some of the coolest characters ever, I would hope that they would put more into it if they did.

    The movie better be good.

Well, that's true. But the way it's written, it's plausible... and I loved the characters. And the "out-there" premise of it. So I guess I fall in that category, too.

I read Twilight a few weeks ago. I must say that I adored the love scenes between Edward and Bella (if only guys like that actually existed in real life!), but the book didn't live up to the hype for me, to be honest. :)

I like the love scenes too :D I'd die (or become a vampire) for any guy like Edward.

Okay. There is no way we can let this thread slip into the next page. I'm surprized to find it close to the bottom. Has anyone else who has read both the Twilight Series and The Host found some of the characters to be very similar?

From what I've heard, they're not very similar. I'll let you know once I finish The Host, though!

To keep this thread alive, it might be fun to ask a daily/weekly question.

Knowing how much Stephenie Meyer loves music and how much it influences her writing, I thought this would be a good one. If you could pick any song(s) to describe Edward and Bella's relationship, what would it be?

I'm going to have to think on that for a bit (when I'm not supposed to be working!) and answer tomorrow! :p

We'll talk about the characters when you're done...

I've been thinking about this one ever since I heard there would be a movie. There are two songs that I think mostly look at their relationship in Edward's perspective:

Your Guardian Angel - The Used (one of my FAVORITE songs)
    Your Call - Secondhand Serenade

This is the chorus for Your Guardian Angel:

I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to heaven

Even though Edward can't go to heaven, it's still very Edward. Then there is Your Call:

Cause I was born to tell you I love you
and I am torn to do what I have to, to make you mine
    Stay with me tonight

I thought this was very Edward in Twilight because he is fighting himself, he knows that what he is could hurt Bella if they were together, but he goes after her anyway. =D

These are amazing songs too, I love them =D

I love the idea for the daily/weekly questions. We should do that!

Well, personally I loved Twilight and Eclipse - wasn't such a huge fan of New Moon, except for the ending and a few moments throughout. Jacob gets on my nerves something shocking!

    Anyway, as to that question:

I'm not sure if this counts, as it doesn't have lyrics, but if you can recall the tragically romantic piece from Attack of the Clones entitled Across the Stars, can't you agree it suits Edward and Bella? Edward is so torn between his love for her and his will to do what he thinks is right - which is to leave her and put her out of 'danger'.

Also, Shine A Light by the Rolling Stones, doesn't really fit, but it does, kinda. >.<

I have read Twilight and New Moon, I was a bit disapointed. The relationship between Bella and Edward is a too cheesy.

New Moon, I just thought his reason for leaving was lame. That might have been the intention but it just annoyed me, as well as Bella's willingness to take him back so easily after he ditched her and broke her heart.

But after I read it, there's a guy at my college who matches the description of Jacob Black perfectly. It's strange.

Wanted to let all the Twilight fans know that each day until Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will be putting a different quote from the book (out of context, of course) on her website! There have already been two - they can be found at http://stepheniemeyer.com/bd_quotes.html

    19 days! :)

    Earth -- I think?
Honestly, I couldn't stand it. To me, the romance was cheesy and not realistic -- I've read much better romance novels.

I must admit that I only read the first one. But I couldn't bring myself to keep reading the trilogy - especially after reading the beginning of book two. By then, I just decided it wasn't going to get any better.

Plus, to me, the idea doesn't seem all that original to begin with. Sorry. It's just that I think there is way too much hype over something that really doesn't deserve it.
