Mikkish looked at Jinx "Nope. Probably not. I mean think about it: its a school. They probably got some strict rules about hurting people with magic. It can't be anything too serious, this sparring class." Mikkish said, remembering Cheza's fight with that other kid. Then he realized he hadn't seen her all day. "Of course...I could be wrong." He said, shrugging.
Jinx relaxed slighty her palm, gripping the desk tight enough for her knuckles to whiten. "Yes, looking at the various abilities it would seem difficult to categorize skill, against students." She paused a smile tinging her lips,"If we are sparring with students." She waited for the teacher to enter as she began to strategize her pieces. After the lecture she received in mathematics she decided to work out the time, percentage, and quality of her magic infusion. She pulled out her notebook and pen and began to write some simple equations before the class began.
Martyn quietly looked worried quietly going to the sparring class as well worried he didn't want to fight it wasn't easy for him to do it he was a more of a supporting spell caster and never really fought properly before. "... w-well... umm s-so we have to fi-fight?"
The thin, balding, middle aged Mr Chase walked through the doors of the class. It seemed pretty obvious they would not be doing any actual sparring at least for today. A classroom as small as this one was no place for fighting, especially not with magic, which could potentially bust a hole in the wall. "Good afternoon,class. I know you are all excited to be done for the day. You will all come to enjoy this class though, once we get into the action. Today will be one of the more boring days, however." He said, walking over to a white board, which he began writing on with a black sharpie. 'Physical Buff / Psionics/ Elemental/ Blood Magic/ Healing/ Telepathy' Were written in big letters. "Alright, so we will begin with a rather simple task. Brainstorming. Who can give me one way in which...hmmm...blood magic, can be used for combat?" He said, looking around the room for volunteers.
Leon grinned. "One could simply drain all the blood out of someone, or just enough to incapacitate them, or they could manipulate them into slitting their own throat or turning against their comrades." Leon said, it seemed that the idea really appealed to him. I looked at Leon and saw the unrestrained glee on his face as he talked about it really creeped me out... who would enjoy doing something so horrid to a person...?
Jinx turned to look at the teacher then looked over to Leon with a rigid expression. She was silent for a few seconds, as she evaluated this being's response. She waited a few minutes before speaking up, "I think it is also imperative to add that blood itself can be used in various rituals and spells that could be applied in a confrontation. For example I spoke to a shaman of the Hulu tribe that could use blood to raise evil spirits." She turned back to the teacher, "I think supporting a comrade is another important aspect of fighting. Blood magic could be used as a way to perhaps increase the physical ability of another, as well as perhaps help with healing and restoration. We are only as strong as our team. Support is half the fight." She lowered her head to write down some notes, waiting for someone else to add in.
"i-i've never really heard or u-used blood m-magic b-but it c-could be dangerous b-but coudl be used to make blood tendrils and hold people in place or something?" he says quietly and shyly. "... maybe even d-dig into the skin or c-crush it maybe? if you wrap the tendrils tightly? o-or maybe a shield using the blood to protect yourself." he muttered quietly
"Hmm..." Mr. Chase said, in mild disappointment "Some right answers. Some wrong answers. The most important fact about blood magic is that it only pertains to the blood. You cannot manipulate people. You cant increase another person's strength, though it could be used to cure someone's illness by raising his immune system." He said with a smirk, turning to Martyn "And no, you can't hold people down with blood tentacles." He said, causing most of the class to snicker "I mean, maybe you can. I am not a blood mage myself, but I have...never heard of that. You could make someone bleed profusely from an orifice, or several orifices. It could be used to draw blood as a sacrifice for a ritual, but it is easier to cut someone with a knife or blade. Blood magic is very powerful when you practice it enough. Intermediate level blood mages can raise the blood pressure in someone's brain so much, it explodes. Hmm..." He said, pausing for a moment to think "Ok, what about psionics? Could anyone tell me how psionics could be used for combat purposes?" "Hey." Mikkish blurted out "Isn't pyrokinesis a form of psionics? You could just set people on fire with it." He said nonchalantly, as he slouched in his chair, not too worried about doing well in this class. "You could, Mr. Callanhad. Good answer. But I am looking for an answer on pure psionics. Simply moving objects with your mind. Anyone?"
Jinx jotted down some notes before she felt a quick whisper in her ear, "No. Not right now, class will be over soon. Be gone." She turned to the teacher, "Well you can state the obvious and use objects within the vicinity to perhaps harm or form a barrier against an enemy." She turned to the left barking a loud, "Enough." She smiled at the teacher,"Sorry.."
I raised my hand. "You could use something like telekinesis, you could move a large object using your mind, something that normally your body wouldn't be able to handle on its own, and create cover, scatter enemies, or you can use it for surprise attacks, such as making a large amount of noise opposite to where you are to gather opponents around, and then back them into a corner or incapacitate them with something else a large crate, a car, something large enough to deal with multiple opponents, without ever putting yourself in harms way, and if you're ever in a tight spot, you can strike them from behind with an object and cause enough of a disruption to give you enough leeway to turn the tide of a battle or at least give you ample opportunity to get away and live to fight another day." I said, it seemed right...
Martyn looked quietly and watched quietly and sighed quietly listening to the others he didn't know at all what other magics could do all he knew was to heal people and create barriers and when he was laughed at a little he even became more recluse quietly looking around at people he didn't know what to say about telekenisis.
I blink a bit confused at the teacher's statement and raise up my hand so I could speak. "I'm sorry to ask but wouldn't moving things with your mind just count as a section of psionics just as pyrokinesis is? I just thought psionics was just like a name of the group of abilities... Though then again I'm not an expert." I say letting out a sigh.
"You could, Mr. Callanhad. Good answer. But I am looking for an answer on pure psionics. Simply moving objects with your mind. Anyone?" "HEY!!!!" David shouted his voice ripping through the entire class. "I KNOW IT!! I KNOW IT!!" Junior groaned. "No...you don't David." "Its moverkenisis!" He belched
Mr. Chase turned his head to David. As far as Mr Chase could tell, David was a mental handicap. Only on occasion did he have a student with a mental handicap, despite the fact that most of his students were...interesting characters. He let out a short sigh "Moverkinesis? No. When psionics is used for the sake of moving objects it is just called 'psionics." He explained, but then out of sympathy, decided to give David an opportunity to answer "Could you tell me of any way you might be able to hurt somebody with psionics?" "Oh, I wouldn't recommend asking him that." Blurted out a voice from the class. It was Mikkish "The poor kid will give himself a hernia trying to answer that."
Jinx gave Mikkish a slight slap on his arm, "Oh come on give him a chance. Sometimes the people who suspect will fail are he ones who can provide unthinkable suggestions." She turned to David expectantly giving a small smile.
David chuckled. "Yeah that idiot you guys are talking about is so dumb!" He pointed at the teacher. "Why are wetards like Herenia even in this class? I am here to get a good edumacation and kids rich kids like him give us all a bad name!" David snorted as snot dripped from his nose. "Does anyone agree with me? My friend Captain Chocolate was killed by guys like Herenia on a ship.....by pirates."
Jinx smirked, "See we can't have Herenia killing people like Captain Chocolate. Good lesson to keep in the repertoire for future sparring. Thanks David." She wrote down a few more notes, and nodded to the small man who sat curtly behind David's chair. He gave a slight nod, his appearance frail and translucent, as the class continued. It was nice to see a happy soul that still felt the need to watch the living from within their realm.
'Captain Chocolate?' Mikkish thought, fury rising within him 'CAPTAIN CHOCOLATE!!?' "Fuck! Seriously? This Captain Chocolate bullshit again?" Mikkish blurted angrily, turning to David "I know you have problems, but really, damnit, there is no Captain Chocolate! And thats it. No more jumping over the sides of ships to save your imaginary friend." David's mention of Captain Chocolate really got on Mikkish' nerves. On the very first day coming here, Mikkish had to stop David from killing himself to rescue his confectionery, make believe comrade. "I will not have that behavior in my class! Any more of that attitude and I will have you miss class for the day, if I feel nice! If you truly piss me off today I will just kick you out of my class altogether and you won't have sparring class with me all year." Mr Chase said, warning Mikkish and being very patient on his own part.
Martyn quietly listened worried and didn't want to get in trouble with Mr. Chase. "If you could move objects with Psionics... couldn't you pick up weapons around like rocks, knives or whatever you could get and fire them at the enemy?" Martyn asked curious thinking to himself. "Or could you move the enemies body parts to hit themselves?"
The class went on as Mr Chase talked about how each magic art could be valuable in combat. Mikkish was asleep when the bell rang. "Oh man, about damn time. I will probably skip that class till the actual sparring begins." He said out loud to himself, walking out the doors of the school building and into the light of the outside. It was perfectly clear today, and not as hot. About 75 degrees. "So what-" Mikkish' very important question was cut off as a girl's scream filled the air. Mikkish was very annoyed by the time the screaming stopped. "Shit. Hey! We don't all got to hear about your problems!" Mikkish shouted, which was met with another horrified, painful scream.
I listened to the lecture intently and took detailed notes about everything. I walked out of the classroom and stretched, I was contemplating about what to do, I was thinking maybe I could go help with the renovations at the hotel, I mean if I was going to take advantage of any help that they were going to give me, I'd have to give back in any way that I could. I walked outside and heard a girl's scream. "What the?!" I wondered, I didn't give it anymore thought and quickly rushed toward the source of the screaming, whoever was screaming was likely in danger!
Jinx rubbed the back of her neck, after the long lecture. She yawned feeling the lingering exhaustion of the previous night. She left the classroom quickly aiming to head back to her dorm to prepare for tonight's dreaded strip show. She made it just out the door when a piercing scream erupted out of the air. Jinx stopped, her body tightening as she stared up into the ceiling her eyes going a pale and glossy white. She tightened her books falling to the floor as the pure terror of that soul filled her body. She blinked once before running full force towards that direction, past Mikkish and following Joe. She cried out some quick versus in Latin, in order to prepare for what was about to come. She could feel the anguish of a scared and tortured soul, but the light was fading fast. She yelled ahead in deep Russian, "JOE. BE CAREFUL. SOMETHING IS KILLING HER."
I sighs when the bell signals the end of the class and get up stretching. "Well that was interesting." I says heading on towards outside into the nice day. "Hmm not bad maybe I sh-.....What the hell?" I stop midsentance hearing the girl scream and look over seeing Joe and Jinx take off. "That does not sounds good. Wonder what's going on?" I say mostly to myself and take off running after the two.
'Where the fuck are they going? Probably just some woman saw a bug or something.' Mikkish thought...for a moment. Mikkish was rather ignorant and insensitive towards other people, but any idiot could smell the burning gasoline, and the rising smoke was not easy to miss. "Alright." He said to himself, somewhat reluctantly, as he jogged to the source of the screaming and the smoke. This was a magic city. Maybe someone was being attacked with fire. His attitude changed, however, as he came to the screaming woman. She was young, just like the boy with his eyes gouged out. Probably a student. She was chained to one of the top branches of a tree, and burning alive. How did nobody see who did this? Mysterious, just like the gouged eyes boy. But this girl was still alive. She could still be rescued. "Fuck! We gotta get her down!" Mikkish said, running up to the tree planning to climb up and save her. He was not a complete moron though. A good portion of the tree was also engulfed in blue hot flames. The fires would need to be put out first. "Come on! Somebody! Water magic!" He shouted.
Jinx watched the girl with horror, trying to find a way to safely climb the tree. When none was apparent she groaned and pushed past Mikkish as she began to mumble incoherently. Three large corpses pulled themselves out of the ground and walked casually up to the tree and began to climb, as the smell of burnt flesh and muscle tissue filled the air. Jinx sunk to her knees, her hands beginning to turn a sickly shiny red, before cracking and bleeding. The men ignored her as they pulled at the chains, before one shoved a large knife into a link and twisting. As it broke, an eyeball melted out of the corpses eye, and the rest of another's skull became more prominent on the top of its head. Jinx kept eye contact her mouth still mumbling as they dumped the girl down on the ground and began to pat at her, in order to stop the flames. They stopped abruptly after a few minutes and began to sink back into the ground, as Jinx slumped over breathing heavily, her hands were sore and bleeding but the amount of damage was minimal in comparison to the young woman. She needed healing immediately or the grim was going to have one more person in line for judgement. She swore, standing up shakily, as tears ran down her cheeks, "She's in so much pain. WE NEED A MEDIC NOW! NOW GOD DAMN IT! NOW!"
