The fight between Mikkish and Morgan continued once the corpse let go. It was actually quite the spectacle. The sounds of meat smacking meat could be heard, as they blocked each other punches. They speed dashed around the area, towards each other to let out a flurry of punches and maybe some knees, then speed dashed out to recover, then repeated. It was much like Dragon Ball Z, but this was not a cartoon, as unbelievable as it all was, it was real. Joe's rant went unheard. Mikkish was much too busy to pay attention to him. Morgan seemed an even match with Mikkish...at least, with physical buff and hand to hand training.
"...Well we'd need Mikkish's consent, which seems highly unlikely, he seems to be one of those people that might have a thick skull... it's rude to say, but he did just brush your warning off as though it were just some fly on his arm... though it is a good idea, if we can commune with the spirit that gave you the message, we might just be able to get him to tell us who gave him the message." I said smiling. "...Er... it's... not... er... scary is it...? L-Like any chance of death or possession...?" I asked, I felt like an idiot, however these were questions that I had to ask, I wasn't that well versed in the occult, so I had no clue what a seance was besides that it was some ritual to communicate with the dead.
She frowned knowing he was probably right. She crossed her arms bringing up her knees as she smiled at his worries, "Haha your cute. Here let me explain. When the living perform seances it isn't to invite the dead into our world like they see in the movies. They are already in our realm, well sort of, they live on the border. That's the reason why we,well you, can't see them, and believe me you don't want to, they are just as annoying as the living. Anyway in a seance I can invite you to be able to speak and see him, and in turn you all create a type of cage to keep him. Seeming as most of the people here have highly toned traits their energies are like diamond bars." She yawned her eyes drooping as she sat by him, "Plus if anyone could be hurt it's me. If you guys are the cage, I'm the lock. I wouldn't worry though. I've completed a few seances in my time, and one way higher then a simple poltergeist. I can assure you that you and any one who joins will be safe. The problem is no one else I know will join, but to be fair I don't really know anyone." She yawned again, "It's so quiet here. No voices, or screaming. It's nice." She shut her eyes, and laid back, as she prepared to take a rest.
Ignoring the cute comment as best as I could, I just listened to her explanation, I didn't quite like the thought of her being in danger... I looked at her a bit surprised as she began nodding off. "O-Oh you should get back to the dorms, you'll catch a cold if you just go to sleep here... or you could get mugged or some men of ill repute will try to do something horrible to you." I said, I assumed that she was a student as well, she was at the party after all.
She sighed, her eyes opening wearily, "Yes..my room. Where they wait. I'm sorry for nodding off, I drank a bit much, and I rarely sleep well. I have pills to help with insomnia but they rarely help, when you have people sitting on your chest or screaming at you." She paused, feeling exhausted, "You are right though. Better to be screamed at instead of being raped or killed." She stood holding out her hand and smiling, "It was very nice to meet you Joe, and I hope we can call each other friends during our time here. I haven't had many living friends." She yawned again her eyes drooping a tad.
I smiled and shook her hand. "It was very nice to meet you and thank you, you made a very horrid evening into a pleasant one." I said, I got up. "I think I'm going to head back to the party, you take care of yourself now, okay? You never know what sort of weirdos are out at this hour, have a pleasant evening, Jinx." I said smiling, I bowed politely and then walked away, back toward the abandoned hotel, I needed to make sure that I didn't miss anything, like a membership card or something to make sure that I'd be recognized as a member.
Jinx smiled, and shook his hand gingerly, "Thanks. I am sure I will be fine. Boris is quite the bodyguard. See you later." She yawned again and began to walk the opposite way back towards the dorms, her heels making a soft noise against the pavement. She shoved her cold hands into her pockets and tried to ignore the creepy chill running up her spine. The dorm wasn't to far and hopefully no one would be stupid enough to fuck with her at this point. She smirked her eyes going pure white so she would know if a spirit was in the vicinity.
I stood there a moment watching the fight as it once again insued. Though seeing as it didn't die down I would turn around and walk in the direction the girl talking about spirits went. I stopped when I noticed Joe on his way back from that direction. I give a smile and wait a moment before walking over next to him. "So....I'm guessing that girl is feeling better then? Looks like she left in a big mess and you don't seem like the kinda guy who would just leave someone emotionally stressed behind. Which for a lack of better words just a nice guy huh Joe?"
I sighed as I saw Mikkish and the woman were still fighting. "Figures." I thought, I saw that Rue walked up to me. "W-Well I can only hope that she feels better..." I said quietly, I crossed my arms. "And it's understandable why she left... I can understand how it feels to be treated like a freak, you know? I would have at least thought that Mikkish would have used some tact... though I-I shouldn't have blown up at him like that." I said quietly and sighed deeply. "As for being a nice guy...? Er... I guess." I said, I chuckled and rubbed the back of my head. "I-I just think that if you can do some good, you should, you make one's life less of a burden and I'd like to think it has a ripple affect, if you do a good deed, that good deed will be spread by others as well..." I said, I smiled slightly.
Jinx stood warily at the entrance of her dorm room. She leaned her forehead against it, to hear the harsh whispers and slight giggles. She could sense 10 souls of moderate energy roaming about inside. She whispered to herself, "Why couldn't I have something interesting like freezing people, or super strength. God damn it." She opened the door and stepped inside to see her occupants. The room was quiet as she walked to the window and opened it to allow Archibald to fly in after his rounds. His cage was set up in the corner by her open trunk. She turned back around warily and spoke impishly, "Hello everyone. I understand you all have century long grudges, angry lovers, sad family members, and anger issues you wish to get through but tonight is not the time. I am tired, angry and drunk. I promise I will give you all my full attention on the morrow. So if you don't mind giving me some privacy, I would very much appreciate it." It was a few more seconds before the yelling began. The three brothers who accompanied me to the party, sat in the corner smiling at me with a shifty arrogance I detested. The rest which comprised of three women, two men, a small child, and well blithey me, I am guessing a transvestite. The young woman with blonde hair and a missing arm stepped up first, "YOU BLITHERING IDIOT YOU HAVE NIGHTS TO SLEEP. I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO PLACATE MY REVENGE SINCE 1952." The young child perked up, "I can't find my Teddy, Edgar. He's in the lake. I need him." A large man barreled up, "YOUR TEDDY CAN WAIT YOU LITTLE SHIT. MY WIFE SHOT ME IN THE CHEST AND IS SLEEPING WITH MY PARTNER. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE." I rolled my eyes about to speak when an older women perked up in a shrill tone, "No wonder your wife shot a miserable mule like yourself, my granddaughter married someone just like you, and on my deathbed I swore I would see them separate before they ended up procreating a child out of that madness. Now they fornicate like rabbits in my home. My grandfather built that house for the lord not some sick rabbits." I spoke up taking a step back before feeling a cold chill behind me. I turned to see a young man with greased back hair and a sharp pointy nose, "Don't worry about them love, I can make your time with me all that more enjoyable. Just give me a knife and I'll cut away those clothes and carve my name into that lovely skin." I shivered utterly revolted, as a scream tore behind me. I turned quickly as a raven came through the window and perched on the nightstand, right in front of a small women in her thirties ran away muttering in a language I couldn't determine. I could feel the pull of the child on my clothes and the barreling wariness of the large man. I snapped my fingers and Archibald landed on my shoulder. The ghosts repelled away from his presence and I spoke in a simple tone, "Enough. Not tonight. I will overhear your issues accordingly tomorrow, but mind you if you all don't behave I will let you suffer in this state for the rest of eternity and not give a care regardless." I eyed the child, and my tone softened, "I promise I will help find your teddy tomorrow. Then you can go see your mom sweety." I sighed moving through the crowd to my dresser and pulled out some pajamas. I undressed quickly, ignoring the insults and leers on my physical attributes. It didn't hurt me anymore. Archibald watched warily, crooning into my neck to offer me comfort. I loved the Raven my parents bought to help ward off vicious spirits. He saved me more then a few times. I settled onto the bed a few seconds later shutting my eyes as I shoved ear plugs in. Archibald sat on the nightstand, guarding me. For a second, I thought they would listen, and hope could be found, but then, a single manly voice broke through my peace, "WELL I WAS RAPED!" I opened my eyes to look up at the transvestite laying on the roof. Then the yelling began again.
I simply shrug my shoulders. "Hey do what you think is right. If that's it then that's it right? Anyway. I don't blame you much for blowing up like you did. Not usually a very well accepted way of life." I look over on back towards the building. "So I'll just tell you that you really haven't missed anything. Well except for the fight which has been going on the whole time....Not much out of the normal for a party other than that."
The fight continued for only a couple more minutes, but didn't end well for Mikkish. At the party, Mikkish had not counted the number of shots he had taken, and took too many too quickly for him to notice the effect. The drunkeness hit him all at once, from all the vodka, jaeger, and jack he had swallowed. Morgan was poised to charge at him, and Mikkish to meet her in his own charge, when suddenly he faceplanted. This was no victory for Morgan either; Mikkish collapsed as she was charging at him, and she tripped over his unconscious body. She went flying and fell face first into a puddle. The scene caused all the students watching to burst into laughter. Morgan, hiding just how upset she was...though not very well, stood back up and composed herself. "I apologize for the retards. Everyone who attended this party is a member." But wasn't there a sign up process? Didn't they need to be in some database? They already were. How? Magic "Voluntary work on this hotel building, which is also our main place of operations, starts tomorrow. Now if you will excuse me." She was embarrassed by what had just happened, and needed to leave the area. She went back in through the hole and began to approach different groups of socializing students to inform them of the news a well, which Donny, too, was instructed to do. Mikkish picked himself back up and stumbled out of the building, along with other student who were beginning to leave. The party was ending. ___________________________________________________________________________________ The next day came unexpected to Mikkish. He had already missed first block as he was puking his guts out in the toilet. He hardly remembered most of the night before. Only to the point where he had to knock out the cute blood mage girl.
Jinx gasped for air, her wet black hair slick against her bare back and cheeks. She gripped the deck harshly pulling her weight up onto the deck with one hand. She shivered at the cold air on her bare skin, as she stood lifting up the bear in triumph. "Th...t...There..you go...Toobbbyy..III...found him!" She leaned down, and held out the wrinkled and moss covered bear to the soul of a little boy who smiled widely, "EDGAR! YOU FOUND HIM! THANKYOU! I COULDN'T LEAVE HIM..HE'S MY BEST FRIEND!" She yawned giving him a smile, "It's what I do kid. Now sorry to rush, and miss your exuberant soul release, but I am naked and late for class. Say hi to your mom for me!" She turned, shaking her body and running down the dock as she scooped up her clothes and ran up to her Harley parked at the edge of the road. She hid behind it, pulling on the boots, jeans, and sweater, that hid her bits. As she was putting on her final boot, she shoved the helmet on her head, and hoped on before she revved the engine and headed towards the school. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When she finally reached the building she pulled the keys out of the ignition, and jumped off the bike to smack against the pavement. She groaned, feeling a sharp pain to her knee as she looked at the shoelace caught in the side pedal. She swore ripping it away as she moved towards the class. She walked in quickly, the teacher pausing in his discussion to look at her. He pursed his lips in discontent and she mouthed a quick, "Sorry." She kept walking finding a seat in the back, and opening up her books, to find they were for a completely different class. Her lips twitched violently, as she picked a ponytail out of her backpack and placed her dripping wet hair in a bun. She then paused seeing a large red stain soaking through her pants, in the area where she fell. She bit her lip in frustration as she dug through her backpack for something to cover the blood until class was done. She found a pad and some ductape and with a few confusing looks from her classmates she ripped her jeans and ductaped the pad to her knee. Finally, she took a minute to breathe, rubbing at her swollen and blackened eyes. She woke up at four with a nasty hangover and a barrage of restless souls. Luckily for her two were saved right before class leaving about 8 more to worry about tonight. She took down a few notes, and pulled out an apple. It was the first thing she had eaten all day and as she chewed she thought about tonight. Even though that Mikkish dude was not going to the roof she sure as hell was. She only hoped that whatever was waiting up there was something she could handle.
"Well if that's the case, I think I'm going to leave, after I make sure that there's nothing else that I need." I said, then a few minutes later Morgan gave me that confirmation, I looked at Rue and bowed politely. "It was very nice to meet you Rue, I'll see you tomorrow, have a nice evening." I said, with that, I went back to my dorm and went straight to bed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I woke up early the next morning, as per my usual routine. I got up, got ready for the day, grabbed my case for my bow and quiver and walked outside to the place I had gone to yesterday, it was a nice peaceful place, perfect for archery practice. I strung my bow and grabbed an arrow from the quiver and walked fifty feet away and aimed at the tree, I took a deep breath and released and did it in quick succession, doing my best to hit the tree. When I used up my last arrow, I looked and saw that only a few of the arrows had missed the tree completely, a few were far off the mark, some were close to where I had been aiming, and two had hit where I had aimed, I smiled and collected the arrows, sharpening the ones that had become blunt by carefully using a pocket knife that I kept within the bag to sharpen them once more and then repeated the process until it was almost time to get to class. I rushed upstairs and put my bag away and then rushed off to class, taking any open seat nearest to the front of the class. I had managed to get there five minutes early. I cracked open my alchemy book and began to read through it. I rather enjoyed the study, it was very interesting, it seemed very complicated, however I seemed to get it pretty easily, well the gist of it anyways, I'd have to actually put the idea into practice before I could really say that I got it. Once class would start, I'd pay close attention to the teacher and take detailed notes of the proceedings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leon arrived back at the dorm hours later, only a few hours of sleep, not that he minded. He could get to sleep and just go in late. He could easily charm the teacher into letting it slide, just a little bit of manipulation, along with a little bit of routing around in his mind and he'd have the teacher wrapped around his finger with ease. He woke up ten minutes late for class, he took his sweet time getting ready and arrived at class twenty minutes late, he flashed the teacher a smile. "Oh I'm so sorry, I woke up so late, I hope you don't mind." He said, he tried to gently enter the teacher's mind and try to mentally nudge the teacher to just let him off and go back to teaching, it always worked for him with all of his other teachers, shouldn't be any different now.
Conjuration The first block teacher folded his arms authoritatively as he glared at Leon. "Oh. Why of course I don't mind." He said sarcastically "You don't even need this class anyway, do you? Who needs conjuration when you already have such award winning telepathy?" The man then picked up a tall, pointy hat from behind his desk, on which read the word "DUNCE," then walked over to Leon and placed it on his head. Then, he walked over to the front of the class and announced to the whole classroom "Class, if you show up late and attempt to fool me with novice telepathy, you will do just fine. Just ask Mr. Levance." He said with a smile. Elemental "Psionics to control such things as temperature...for example, cyrokinesis, involves feeling the cold first, and projecting it to an object. This is not psionics class, however, this is simply elemental class. In my personal opinion, psionics is for, how some of you might say, 'noobies.' Not to...'diss' on anyone in this class. Elemental magic does take greater concentration. Healing "You will be needing medical knowledge, which I will be teaching. It is very, very basic, however. Don't worry. It won't be anywhere near as hard as medical school probably is." Physical Buff "As some of you may already know, magic greatly raises your metabolism when you practice it. This is good new for the ladies, but maybe not so much for the gentlemen. It is difficult to gain much mass. Physical buffing help that, however. Each time you, how they say 'speed dash,' its like a full workout for your legs. Punch with force enough to smash a brick wall? A workout for your arm. It is also a great way to turn a mages 'skinny fat' appearance to a fit, defined one. We wont be wearing ourselves out too much during this class, however. After all, you have mathematics just after break." Break Mikkish had not been attending class at all that day. After he had missed first block due to his hangover, he figured it would be best to miss a few classes and act like he was feeling sick that morning. His tray was piled high with a burger, fries...and brussel sprouts. Mikkish absolutely LOVED his brussel sprouts. He happily sat at a table, munching away at his burger and fries, saving the brussel sprouts for last.
I watched as Leon had been reprimanded by the teacher and was forced to wear a dunce cap. "...I have a feeling this isn't going to end well." I thought, I gave Leon a sympathetic look. He just scowled back at me briefly when he noticed my look and gave a convincingly phony smile to the teacher. "Oh, you got me." He said raising his hands in the air, pretending to take it well. "This isn't over, twit." He thought, he took a seat in the back of the classroom and took off the dunce cap. The next few lessons I paid close attention to everything that was said in each class, taking very detailed notes. Leon on the other hand just slacked off, none of it really interested him and he was still brooding over the teacher's humiliation in front of everyone. At break I grabbed a bowl and loaded it full of watermelon, it was my one weakness, I grabbed a burger and some lemonade and sat down at the table Mikkish was sitting at, I hoped he wasn't angry at me. "Hey... um... sorry for blowing up at you last night... it was just that you blew off that girl and insulted her, I mean you did criticize her abilities, and also... please, just don't try to 'fix me', I'm still me, I've just never been attracted to women, and I swear that I won't do anything intentional to make you feel uncomfortable." I said rubbing the back of my head. "Er... I hope you'll take these as a peace offering." I said, I pulled out a small stack of papers and set it down next to his food. "They're the notes from today, I copied them down since you weren't here, glad you're feeling better though." I said smiling, I knew I'd also have to ask him about the book and the seance, and tell him about my suspicions, though I'd just have to test the water for now.
With nothing left to do now that the party was over and the few interesting people to have conversations with had gone and left I figured it was time to do the same. I went back to the dorms and marched my way up to my room to go to sleep. When I awoke the next day I found I had slept in. "Ah jeez....Well the first class of the day won't miss me too much. I'll just catch up tommorow." I say waiting after it was over before going out to join the other classes. During break I give a yawn and go out to see what was in the way of choices for lunch. Not really in the mood for much I grab an apple and a bottle of water. I look around to try and see if there was anyone I knew and noticed Joe sitting at a table next to ...... Mikkish. "Oh great." I mumble and walk over to the table sitting down farthest away from Mikkish and begin eating the apple.
Jinx stared at the man masturbating behind the counter with a stoic expression. She paused opening her mouth, about to say something when she decided, you know what not today. She grabbed a burger, fries, a coffee and a piece of every desert offered. With a quick crack of the neck she turned looking around the room to find Joe, Mikkish, and another pretty girl who she hadn't met yet. She limped towards the table, her knee still hurting her and plunked down beside Mikkish to face Joe. She gave him a weary smile, and rigidly picked up her sugar packets to fill her coffee. "Morning Babooshka. Hope that your night was well." she stated her Russian accent filling her words. She paused taking a bite of her sprinkled donut, and turned to the young girl, "Hello Miss, my name is Jinx. I am sorry you witnessed my aggravation yesterday. I was drunk and things seemed to irritate me more then they should. It is a pleasure to meet you, and hopefully we can be good friends." She ignored Mikkish completely, trying not to touch or acknowledge his existence in anyway.
Martyn had stayed out of most of the incidents that happened during the party and afterwards and went back to his dorm earlier than many of the other people and stayed round the back of classes staying mostly quiet unless asked to talk and do stuff only taking notes. As he slowly walked into the cafeteria he just walked to the queue to get some food scanning over the group of people quietly. "...why can't i jus tbe with you guys..." he clicked his locket opening it looking at the picture inside solemnly. "... this place may be fore me... with magic but `I don't fit in this whole vibe." he says closing it again quietly
I blink looking to a familiar girl from last night who sits down at the table as well. I give a quick smile. "Ah so your name was Jinx was it? Nice to meet you, well formally anyway. But, don't worry about it. I've seen plenty of blow ups from people." I say and thinks to myself how most are usually directed towards me. But I didn't figure that was something that needed to be said aloud. I then turn my attention around to the other tables idly listening to see what they were yacking about until I notice a boy standing alone just staring at a locket in his hand. I decide to wave to him. "Hey you over there just standing there! Why don't you come over and sit if you don't have a table, so you can eat?"
Mikkish looked at Joe with confusion. He didn't remember most of what had happened the night before. "Hey its cool, man. I don't really remember it. It pretty much may as well not have happened. And thank for these notes." Mikkish was also confused about what Joe was saying about not being into girls. 'I guess he is gay.' Back in Georgia, there were a few openly gay kids, but everyone, including Mikkish, always assumed it was due to getting rejected by women repeatedly. 'Or he thinks he is. Just gotta toughen the kid up. Its not like people are naturally born gay.' These were his thoughts about gays. Hey, he was from the south. What do you expect? Mikkish didn't even remember either of the girls sitting at their table too well. He turned to Jinx, seeing as how Rue was talking to a shy looking new kid. "Woah. Hey. Like your accent. Are you..." Mikkish started, thinking of where she might be from "Polish?"
Jinx paused, looking up at the young man beside her and blinked, her expression cold as she let her face sink in. When he didn't appear to recognize her she spoke in a simple tone, "Russian actually. You don't remember insulting me do you..." She leaned over and smelled his clothes, and wearily moved back, "Seems I wasn't the only one tempted by the D'yavol's liquor. You enjoy the taste of vodka like a Russian, I can appreciate that in a man." She leaned up to look at him full in the face, "Ever call me crazy again, and I will make sure that your room becomes a personal circus filled with every poltergeist on this island " She pulled back, taking another sip of her coffee before speaking, "Now then, seeming as that is sorted, I suppose you also didn't remember what I informed you of last night. Hopefully you take my second warning with a bit more then a grain of salt. I am a medium like my Mamochka, and I have a message from a deceased soul within this vicinity. He wanted me to tell you that the book is wanted? and that if you do not release it to them tomorrow..I mean today at 9 pm on the roof, you and all your friends will be in trouble." She took a bite of a dough-nut and begrudgingly looked at him, waiting for an insult, "You said you didn't have a book, and it isn't my duty to prove otherwise, but I am going to be the one risking my ass when I go up to that roof tonight. If any thing happens to me, it's going to be on your shoulders, Meekesh." She smirked, taking another bite of doughnut, to let that sink in.
Martyn heard the voice and almost jumped out of his skin well maybe not that spooked but he did jump in a little shock that someone talked to him. "u-umm i-i-i'm fine." he smiled quietly stuttering looking at the girl quietly as he picked up his tray of food quietly and shyly nervously walked towards her and sat a little bit away near her though nervous and went silent slowly picking up a chip quietly and ate it slowly nervous that someone actually talked to him. "...u-umm w-w-w-who are you?" he stuttered nervous
Mikkish froze at what Jinx was saying. A dark feeling washed over him. Nobody could have the book. NOBODY. It was his. If Mikkish actually stopped to think about why he might feel so protective of the book, it may have scared him. But what could anyone who ever met Mikkish honestly expect of him? "What book?" He asked, noticing the new kid who had just sat down "Who are we? Kinda wondering that about you. I am guessing you were at the party last night?" Mikkish asked. Already there were two people he hardly remembered and one he didn't remember meeting at all. Mikkish wasn't actually interested in talking to Martyn. He just wanted to change the subject. 'Shit!' He thought 'How the fuck do they know about the book?' Only Jinx mentioned anything about a book, but Mikkish was getting paranoid. If the girl knew, who else did?
I looked at Mikkish and crossed my arms, it was clear that he was lying, normally I wouldn't be so pushy... but my life, his, and countless others could be in real danger. "Mikkish, please don't change the subject. There's a book and you're hiding it and it's dangerous, it's apparent from the way you're acting, you're not endangering only yourself, but others. Now Jinx has an idea but you have to agree to it first. You see, she wants to perform a seance in order to commune with the spirit that gave her the message, we can learn the identity of the person that did this, we'd need you, Jinx, myself, and at least one other to be able to perform it. If we succeed we can put a stop to all of this before anyone can get hurt." I said, I'd notice the boy, but I'd talk to him after this, this was much more pressing.
