If you like surreal humor, INCIDENCES by Daniil Kharms is a bit insane. (Or pretty much anything he writes.) Just slightly in the same vein as John Lennon's books--and probably an influence. It's easy to see he also influenced some modern bizarro writers like John Skipp and D. Harlan Wilson. This is what he looks like:
I'd go with House of Leaves. Other Danielewski's novels , I think, also are written in an experimental style.
