The juice of a poison hemlock plant will make your lips and tongue numb. I googled it to make sure I wasn't going to die and evidently 6-8 leaves is a fatal dose :agreed:

I just microwaved some frozen chicken taquitos. A customer comes in and says ‘wow, that smells really good. What is that, curry?’

Apparently chicken taquitos and curry smell alike

0 degrees isn’t freezing point, it’s the point at which ice melts.

    Or something like that.

Isn't that also the point at which water freezes though? Or would that be minus 1?

It is both, but only pure water. Adding salt or other minerals alters the temperature at which it melts/freezes

0C is known as the triple point of water. It can exist in its solid, liquid, or gaseous form. It won't change state at that temperature without input of energy.

Little known fact - ice doesn't cool your drink because its cold. Ice cools your drink because it is extracting energy from it (in the form of heat, and known as latent heat) to change state from solid to liquid.

Oh yeah, Eurovision. Was a bit surprised at the winner this year, but the only time the band I liked won was in 2006, so whatever. Iceland was my pick this year, though admittedly mostly for last year's song.

Apparently there is historical evidence for Venus not being a part of the Solar System until the second millennium BC. There have been records in ancient Babylon and India mentioning planets like Jupiter and Saturn, but no Venus. They claimed it was a "four planet system" for the planets they knew of - Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter. Apparently the arrival of Venus as a comet is a possible explanation for several historical natural disasters, as well as during the time it took to settle into a normal orbit. Of course, all of this depends on how much you trust the work of Immanuel Velikovsky, but in my opinion it's either good science or good science fiction, so either way worth reading.

That opens the terminological question of whether we consider pink a shade or tint of red or separate colour. I feel like most of the time is considered a separate colour.

Giraffes have dark purple pigment on the end of their tongue (like black people have high melanin) because they stick their long tongue out so much while feeding they need it to avoid getting tongue sunburns. Which raises the interesting question of how long the phase in between developing a long tongue and evolving the pigment was, and whether there was a period with an epidemic of giraffe tongue cancer. Lol :bigtongue::bigtongue:

Shade: a saturated color mixed with black.
Tint: a saturated color mixed with white.
Tone: a saturated color mixed with gray.

Pink is a tint of red.
