    They used "factoid" wrong ;)

People use factoid to mean "little fact" but it actually means "something false that people think is a fact"

Factoid meaning "little fact" is itself a factoid :D

Ok I'll share a few from a book I have called "The Book of Incredible Information."

Delaware is the only state with no national park territory.

In the 1600s, mental patients were a tourist attraction in London at Hospital of St. Mary. Anyone who paid a penny could observe and taunt the "lunatics" for their own amusement.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was related to 11 other Presidents, either directly or through marriage.

The average person forgets 80% of what he or she learns in a day.

How do you know men masturbate more? I think women just don't talk about it as much. It's a cultural thing.

Of course men masturbate more than women. It is precisely because we don't have as many nerve endings in our penises. That makes it much, much harder for us to achieve orgasm than it is for women - so we really work at it a lot! :D

Bruce Willis was born in West Germany with the iron curtain and everything, and he used to have a stutter.
Martin Luther King Jr's closest associate, Bayard Rustin, was also a gay socalist. Surprisingly, I like him.;);)
At least some species of spiders are affected reversly by sleeping pills and coffee; with one acting like the other.
Badminton used to be called Poona, but was changed in honour of popular game location Badminton Hall because Poona is from Indian Sanskrit and it was colonial times.

My dog can eat a whole sausage in one quick gulp, but he will take fifteen minutes to lick a little bit of gravy off a plate.
I think he's just being a sarcastic asshole about it.

An average person blink 28'800 times per day.

Which is 15-20 times per minute. which means that we spend about 10% of our waking day with our eyes closed.

    My time to shine:

    * On a logarithmic scale, a 0.1 mm dot is halfway between the Planck length and the size of the observable universe.

    * If you were holding a ball representing the sun in Victorville, CA and the Earth being a meter away, the closet star system, Alpha Centauri would be about as far as Tijuana, Mexico, 164 miles away. Voyager 1, the farthest man-made object from earth would only be about 407 feet away.

    * After the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed on 9/11, its light dust reached as far as the Empire State Building, almost 3 miles away.

Qatar, is the only country on earth with absolutely no forests (zero kilometer square of foresty. 0 km2 - 00.00% of total land area), the next closest country is egypt, with 670kms2, or 00.07% of land area. This is quite different to Suriname, which is 90% covered in forest. or Russia, with it's 7.8 million square kilometers of forest.

    Other random Facts:

The Czech Republic is the highest consumer of Beer at 148.6 liters per capita.
France is the largest producer of wine at 4.2 million tonnes.
the USA has the most of operating McDonald store at 14267, the next closest is japan, at 2975
Liechenstein and Uzbekistan are the only two countries in the world that are 'doubly' landlocked (i.e two full countries away from closest sea/ocean)

Funnily enough, Qatar is the largest producer of C02 per capita in the world, at 44 tonnes per capita in 2009. In comparison, the USA is at 17.2 toones per capita.

Also random little factoid, the USA is no longer the largest economy in the world by sheer GDP. it is now Europe, at 14,510.82 billions. In comparison, China sits at 2,657.84 billion and the US at 13,178.35 billion.

The replacement government in Egypt after the Arab spring is more oppressive than the one before the coup.

The largest living organism on earth spans across 3.8 km.

Cats carry a microscopic parasite which will make people and other animals attached to cats.
