Hi Friends, So I come here after encouragement from another forum where people complimented my writing style, so I came here to test my skills, to see if I could stand toe-to-toe with the big boys, so to speak. My grammar is quite terrible when I don't try, I have a tendency to trail off into rabid double-take-inducing tangents, I have occasional bouts of emo that have alienated most if not all 2 of the friends I have made online. I hate dogs, they're too needy. I hate cats, they think they're hot ****. I hate fish, I can't ****ing pet them. Seriously, a pet you can't pet? Who's the genius who thought of domesticating a creature whose natural habitat is underwater? For christ's sake, we skin/chop up their cousins LIVE and serve them on pretty plates with swirly designs that mock the fact they will never be able to perkily swim those swirly seas EVER again. My father has balls big enough to put them in eyesight of our dinner table. Hypocrisy at its very best, at the very least. But I digress, it's a pleasure meeting you all, I'm hoping to learn a lot in this forum, meet some kool people, and just have a good time writing and reading. Cheers! ;] - S.O.
Hello Seriosity Overflow, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Reading your introduction, I like you already. I agree about the fish thing, and a lot of my friends (not here) are the emo type too, haha. Welcome!
Charismatic little paragraph in your intro; I can tell you're one hell of an interesting guy. Have you tried Hedgehogs as pets? I've heard we're horribly needy but once you get past the quills we're quite great... Anyways. I'm Greg, this is the Forum, and welcome! Do enjoy your stay. We MUST get together for Coca-cola and Cheezits sometime!
Wow, you are much more bold in your opening statement than I was lol your definately going to be fun to talk to, welcome to the WF!
Woww... hedgehogs. My first impression is that I would get extremely hurt trying to pet its spikes. But then I remember how extremely cute their little faces and stomach are. I've concluded that this constant struggle between wanting to pet and fearing to pet would make for a very very interesting experience. "omg... so adorable, so cute" "OH GOD, DEATH SPIKES" "but that innocent little face...." "DEAR GOD IM BLEEDING" But yes, I do agree about the Cheezits+cocacola, we must discuss these dangerously irresistible hedgehogs in more detail~ Yeah, that really makes me sad. Fish it doesn't seem as bad because they're in a glass tank that looks fancy, but birds get a metal cage. It just feels all sorts of wrong. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome~ ;] Cheers~
