Sounds exciting! What did you do? Tell! TELL! What's 'fasting'? Just curious. EDIT: 100th POST!!!!!!!
well, if you're really religious, you're going to spend the whole day in the synagogue saying prayers. I can't do that. So really all I'm going to do is go through the day and not eat, then go to the Break Fast party.
Later Link Wish i could get some sleep, but its not even 11am yet (I really should not have gotten up at 1am to do housework - dont ask).
G'night!! *Collapses once again on the tavern floor in a drunken snooze* ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....
Wise move and thank you So Rei, as i've been a little absent from here recently, i'm wodering how you ended up going with your editor. I hope well, decent, better then it began. I hope i'm treading solid ground!
I really don't know what to say to the editor. Sometimes the notes show a lack of knowledge others make me think she's trying imitate Harry Potter, and with others, she's totally squashing the character stories and making it totally plot driven, not to mention getting rid of the ending, where the character finally accepts that having a step mother is enough, when the whole point of the story was that she had never accepted her mother's death. She doesn't even give reasons for a lot of the changes. When she gives reasons, I'm usually okay with it. It's the ones she doesn't properly explain that I dislike.
heh, i cant only begin to imgine how much this ending change is/has/and will annoy you! Might sounds stupid, but have you read any other books/stories from this publisher your now under? Woud be interesting to see if they have a "trend" Wen there is n reason or an illogial one, its probably cause she doesnt even know herself, which is cringe worthy.
Sometimes I can guess the reason. In so many fantasies, it was acceptable to name the potion based on what it did. Buffy always had "protector spells" and "binding spells". They always had very simple names when referring to them in English (which is what I do in my story) but the editor doesn't think "disguising potion" is good enough and wants to give it a more magical name. Can you say Polyjuice potion?
*Drinks an anti-wtf potion* Sorry about that, but oooook I wonder if, i mean when she sakes her pills if she gives them magicl names? I'm starting the hate fantasy (wait, this was somewhat fantasy right?), i was complaining in another thread how i was getting bored of fantasy and its ability to be reluctantly develop me ideas or styles rather than rehash the old, but I’m wondering if is only because certain people are holding them back, by sticking wit either the simple or the old.
That's what I'm starting to think, too. There is nothing wrong with using certain things that books like Harry Potter have used, but only if it's right for the book, and your reason has nothing to do with the success of Harry Potter. In my case, the only reason to do it would be because Harry Potter did it.
Well if you get big time famous, be demanding and when you write new material use your style and methods and tell em who is boss, and when that becomes best selling, Smile and say thank you If only i guess. It appears "What people want" is becoming cliche (even though i guess most wont say it in those words). Old people (or as you get older) change is hard, and this seems the case (as long as its profitable) I respect the industry very much, but we need some flexability. I picked up about 7 fantasy books the other day and you could link every one together with certain ideas/themes. I always though fantasy was about going anywhere you could imagine, not where you wanted to stick a dragon or elf that were all the same in the same locations written by someone new. I'll shut up now, it always betters me
Make comments i cold make. None i will choose I'll see your tired and raise you a pillow! Yellow - Absolutely nothing, though more then previously, but still nothing.
