How far away did you move? We rented a Uhaul for our move from AZ to here, of course, but this last time we just got a truck...even just going from one side of the apartment complex to the other, it was a pain in the *ss. Living in Scotland would be pretty.
I hate packing, but love unpacking. Is that weird? Well, I'm a weird person so I guess that's okay. Living in Scotland would be pretty! I want to move to New Zealand though.
The things stopping me from going are the following: #1- I don't want to leave the rest of my family across the Atlantic. I love them too damned much to just up and cross an ocean. #2- Job opportunities.
Yeah, my moving to NZ is mostly a dream of a dream... One of those things I want to do but will probably never actually be able to.
Living in Sydney pretty much means living in New Zealand. there are thausands of Kiwi's here. Thus i don't need to really go back overto NZ ever again. But it's a better country, so i probably will.
Isn't Australia mostly desert? Except the coasts of course. Can't say I can truly compare Australia to NZ, but NZ was so beautiful from the scenery in LotR. Though I wouldn't mind Australia either... Or Ireland... or Scotland. lol
I read an interesting story today on CNN's website about a group of people who believe the world will end on May 21, 2011, and as such are giving away all their possessions and traveling together in caravans across the country to "spread the word". It just made me wonder, where do people get these ideas for a certain "doomsday"? And if they're sacrificing everything, giving away everything and basically acting as though it'll all be gone be May 21, what happens on May 22nd, when everything isn't gone and everything they own is? I've always wondered, how do the doomsday believers cope when life goes on after their supposed "end of the world" day? Just an interesting topic to me. I never believe in these doomsdays, so when people do, it makes me a little incredulous.
Reading the stories of some of these people makes me hope that they have really good support systems and families around them to help them deal with the fallout from this. It may seem laughable to a lot of people, but to these people, it's very serious, and the fallout from it not happening could be big.
Well, considering people pulled their lives back in order after the Y2K scare, I think they'll manage. Else the homeless population will suddenly spike for a while... >.>'
No, the 12/21/2012 thing is still up in the air. I wonder what we'll be doing on this fourm come 12/20/2012?
I honestly doubt the world's ending any time soon, especially in 12/21/2012. There's a higher probability that I get married on that date than the world ending. And I'm not even going to get married any time soon.
Heh, the Mayan calendar ends, so it's the end of the world. Too bad we haven't been very good at keeping track of the dates and pretty sure 2012 has already passed us by.
I have read about that calender, and it really does not mark an end, its just marks a transition into another time, like a cyclical turning of the roman year, but of course the mayan one is based more on astrological measurements. It is a system not too similar from my own andean ideals of cycles within grander cycles and tiers of nature and extrapolating meaning in those natural processes, ever looking for harmony. Also, it is raining pretty hard, I had to organize the garbage and I got drenched, even with my rain poncho.
I don't know about the rest of the forum, but I'll be celebrating my sister and her fiance's first anniversary in our survival shelter. ^That you know of. These things can sneak up on you! I hope you've dried out and warmed up by now. I love rain, but being soaked is never fun.
Fair point, I suppose. My sister and I used to drag Joel and her fiance out to play in the rain, back when we lived down the street from each other. Joel thought we were crazy.
It's ust like the end of the year. And guess what, another year begins. Ifthe world did burn, it would still be cool. Just saying. Wonders if pallas lurks on a certain ATS site.
