Identify as in interest or my own historical background?

My ancestors were French and Swiss and I have an interest in all cultures besides my own. Why do you think I'm a history freak? ;) Why do you think some of my posts are all France is #1, etc?

I think I consider myself somewhat French because...well...I just LOVE that country! :D The UK is a close second. Though more specifically, I find that I'm nurturing a fondness for Scotland.

  2. LOL... what does that make me then? I generally call myself a Heinz 57 :) I am Cherokee, Apache, German, Dutch, Italian, Norwegian, and French....LOL And Scottish...Too many to remember sometimes :( Links post reminded me.

Makes for quite the interesting mess :D

    Maybe. :p

Though my family haven't been French or Swiss in almost 200 years, and none of them were from Britain (Scotland), I like to think I'm American, French, Swiss AND British. lol.

I amended my post to include an example of myself, which is similar to yours in that one can still identify with an ancestral culture even you grow up in another one. It's all a matter of personal perception.

That is a close definition of 'American.' It is a melting pot of cultures. I'm Irish, English, Scottish, and Italian, and in that order of influence. Oh, and a smidgen of Cherokee.

  6. I'm straight Cherokee and Apache on my Dad's side, the rest is from my mom.

My dad's ancestors were Swiss from Switzerland. My mom's were from France. Again, all that was about 200 years ago in the mid-1800s.

I suppose there is a bit of British in me. I mean, I had one ancestor that sat in the First Continental Congress...Were there Frenchmen delegates in that convention or were they all British people?

No, I'm an Irish lass lol.

All British Americans, Link. Give the Americans their credit. The French had their own revolution. :p

Hmmm...that is interesting. In that case, perhaps I do have a bit of British in my family that's overshadowed by the French and Swiss ancestery.

Oh boy, now you've done it Pallas. You've gone and angered my MC who happens to be married to an Irish lass. XD Let me calm him down...

Ireland itself is a mixture of Britain, Danish, and the Scandinavian countries, BTW. They are pretty much mutts themselves :p

I'm a mutt. Joel is 100% Danish, though, so I tell him all the time that I'm going to pollute his blood when we have kiddies. :D

Weddings suck because you have to write thank you letters...

So I ma writing semi-personal letters that I can mass produce and send out. They look pretty personal and I think they will do the trick. I'm doing 2 versions for gift cards, 2 for cash/check, and a couple for actual gifts. Here is an example:

Then we will load it into office and pull names/addresses out of our contact list AUTOMAGICALLY!!! I  computers sometimes.

I must break it to you, that looks pretty impersonal. Not that I think it matters...most reasonable folk understand these things pretty well. But that impersonal letter becomes rather more personal if you leave it addressed to Dear (persons).. for you are then, at least, crediting the receiver with a sense of humour and a sharp understanding.

I call myself a mutt all the time. I'm half German, almost half Irish, with a bit of Welsh and British thrown in the mix somehow.

But my family's been in America since the mid 1800s (and my German half before that, probably before there was a United States). So I'm American. :p

IDK how many of you remember middle school, but I love that feeling of a new crush. You get butterflies just thinking about them, talking to them, texting them :)....

Kyle, you should tell Joel all about your thank you note woes. He won't have any idea what you're talking about because I did like 90% of them. Lucky bastard.

Hopefully not. Until they're old enough for him to make fun of their non-100% blood. ;)

    Awwww cute! I love it!

Isn't it funny how I suddenly want to get games that had been out for years now? Games like

    Mirror's Edge
    Dragon Age II

I suppose it's no harm in wanting to get a game despite the fact they've been out for quite some time. I dunno, sometimes I feel like I'm late to the big party by doing that.
