I am still digging up articles and keep changing the focus of what I want to write. I want to write on gender, but now I'm finding neat stuff about gender and its relationship to social order. Really neat stuff.

Well, keep to your point; be concise. As long as you successfully make your point, you should be fine.

Where are you applying? (out of curiosity)

That was always the hardest part of choosing a topic for me. There were so many interesting things, I couldn't decide what to focus on! I'm not a good decision maker. :/

Good advice, thanks. :) I'm applying to the University of North Texas, for their library science program.

Incidentally, my deadline isn't until July, so I'm not procrastinating at all. Neener neener, you silly procrastinators. :p

My wife went through the UT Austin library science program. She has done very well in the job market and met a woman at a conference who Lynette beat out two times in a row for jobs. Plus Austin is a cooler town than North Texas. Hills and Water > Flat and close to Oklahoma.

I'm going online. :) UNT is one of the only colleges I could find that was accredited through the ALA (required to become a librarian) and also offered an online program. Since I currently live in Nevada and will likely be moving again in the next year or so, I figured online would be ideal.

Incidentally, I totally lied about the whole not procrastinating thing. I made a list of all the things I need to include in my statement of purpose, and then started researching roller skate wheels and knee pads...then started paying bills...then started looking up derby workouts...

And here I am. Back to WF. Still haven't worked on my SOP.

Scrubbing off some pink stain on my desk from a pen, dunno how it stained but it has. Who would've thought toothpaste would help in getting it off? Still hard work though...

    Toothpaste, really? Hmmm...good to know.

I used to use toothpaste to clean my rings. I wonder if it would work on my wedding ring.

Some kids in school were commenting on how stupid it was of the school to schedule spring break over 4/20.

Well, that's what they're gonna do, that's what they're gonna do.

At any rate, can any UKer here inform me as to what British humor is? I guess it's different than other humor?

Haha the skating rink by my parents' house is having a "take back the day" event that day. Made me giggle.

My friend's baby was born on 4/20, so he set all his work passwords to that date, and then our boss thought he was a pothead. Also made me giggle.

Hmm...I'm not a UKer, but I don't think there's "British humor" and then every other version of humor. I think different geographical locations all have different types of humor. That being said, I do love me some British humor. ;)

Not in the UK either, but I do watch some British humor. It's going to vary much like US humor does, but I always got the impression it was slightly more dry and sarcastic humor than what you might see here in the States.

That's what I figured. Dry, sarcastic, and not as obvious.

Yep, dry is not a quality of humor in the states generally.

No, there is plenty of dry, yet very American, humor. What I see as a particularly British flavor is understated humour, and humour that says the opposite of the surface message - but more sardonic than sarcastic.

I'd agree with Cog. I'd say understated is the defining feature of British humour. If you're looking for some specific examples, I'd say take a look at some of the sitcoms Channel 4 has produced (Black Books, Spaced, etc.), and listen to the friday night comedy shows from BBC Radio 4.

Just researching human evolution on Wikipedia. (Cause I am bored. :p)

I'm just amazed: How did we Homo Sapiens evolve to where we are today while the other Homo (xyz) didn't?

And I almost want to write a sci-fi/fantasy story about what if the Neanderthals were still living and co-existed with us.

Though I think I'll just do the Neanderthals. ;) Y'know, like an alternate magical realm set in our Earth where the Neanderthals survived but we didn't.

Wow...I could almost use them as a fantasy race, give them made-up names, etc. XD

Do you ever get in that late night mood where you listen to songs and just daydream? Yeah, that's where I am right now. :)

Also, I had an amazing day with my amazing friends who I love very much. :p

God, I'm so jealous of both of you. I've been alternately making flash cards for vocab words and studying math stuff all day. So...much...fun...?

    My hand hurts. A lot.
