Agreed to the nth degree. I would have liked to have read some some of the great Science fiction authors from this decade as they were being published.
I just love the musics of the '40s and '50s. Okay, I confess. The blind detective thing I keep harping on about? He's finally found a setting he actually likes. I'll still keep dear Amos and Miguel for other books. I might have that idiot protagonist smacked around in the beginning as payback for aggrivating me all these years. XD
Remember how I wanted to write a mystery/suspense about Omar? Well, I had a thought of writing a near-completed first chapter and send it to my Fiction Writing class this Thursday for their critiques. I'm...kinda nervous, yet curious as to what they'll think.
I probably should be doing dishes right now instead of surfing on here, but I have to keep my brain on this kick I've got going. I pretty much decided to just write out the story. No perfection, no nothing. Just babble it all out onto paper, and then edit it after it's all out. So far, not too bad. I'm cringing as I look back on it, but I have to remember not to look back. Not yet, haha. How's everyone?
I always swear I'll do that, but after a few paragraphs, I am rewriting and expanding and editing... Good luck!
I love just driving with the windows down at night, with the cold air blasting in and Journey blasting from the speakers. Having my license is more fun than I thought it was going to be.
Thank you! Over the past week or so, I got one chapter done, and in the hardest part that I'm working through- the beginning. /shudder And Gigi, the envy seeping through my pores that you got to do that is probably going to manifest through the computer!
Dude. I feel like it's been a zillion years since you were on here. Hi! I started using the word war website Mallory uses when I'm writing...it forces me to just write without editing as I go. Joel and I are so pathetically lazy sometimes. We ran out of water today, and I was going to go to the store before practice and get some, but then I didn't. He got home from work while I was at practice, but he didn't want to go either. While driving home from practice, I was like, "man, I'm gonna need something to drink when I get home...should I stop at the store? No way, I'm too stinky." Then I remembered that we had a left over life water from our last trip down to AZ and was like, "score! I'll drink that." I got home, and Joel was drinking it already. "Are you drinking that because we're out of water?" "...yep." He just went to the store, though. I think that means I win.
Maybe they have poor water quality. I rented a house that had terrible water so I bought the bottled type.
LOL sorry, I went to sleep. Yeah, our tap water is pretty gross...I'm not brave enough to drink it. Dude, I was just making a grilled cheese sandwich, and I was like "man, this is taking a long time to cook." And then I realized that I never turned the stove on.
Ahaha! On the bright side, that's not as bad as not turning the microwave on. Also, mmmmmm grilled cheeeese!
Good point. And yeah, man, after I finally got it made, it was delectable. Sadly, now that it's gone I have no excuse for putting off studying...
How about another bright side, only this time one that pertains to me. At least you aren't chain-smoking to put off writing. I feel pretty lame. Grilled cheese is brain-food. You will power through studying like a wizard.
I see a familiar face among the sea of people! Yay! Awkwardness abolished. I think I just rode a huge creative high. Not only did I outline (which is murder for me) but I had one of those, "Holy crap it all makes sense now" moments. This place always does that to me. Side note, I had fried mushrooms. So... delicious...
I did, I destroyed those flash cards! Now it's your turn-stop chain smoking and start writing! Meh...it's only like a dollar for a huge thing of water...my brother talked to us about getting a filter, but the one that he was talking about seemed kind of labor-intensive for an apartment that we (hopefully) won't be living in for much longer. Hooray for creative highs!! And for fried mushrooms, I suppose...though mushrooms kind of freak me out.
I wrote this really awesome story for a contest at school, and it's being judged right now. I hope I'm one of the top people -- from what my English teacher says, even though he's not a judge, it sounds like I might be. I'm pondering whether to post it here or not, just to let people see.
I wonder if I should post it as a blog entry or as a post in one of the threads. I'm leaning more toward blog entry, as it's not a piece I'm submitting for criticism.... however, I would be open to any criticism. I'll blog it.
Yay! I got like a 98% on the math review I just took. Of course, it was the super easy part of the math review, but still...it was a higher score than I got the last time I took it. Getting better.
Posted! Personally, I was very proud of it when I was finished. I think it's one of my best pieces to date.
I think I'm bored. I'm just replying to everything for lack of something better to do. D: I wish I took breaks from writing during the day so I'm not so drained at night.
Can we reverse? I would love to write all nigh and crash all day. Gigi, I'm going to go read your blog now, since it's empty here at work. Haha. And Hidden, fried mushrooms are EPIC. Right up there with burritos and chicken blts.
