I've never been shooting either. Unless you count shooting from a water gun at other people. :p

I have never shot a gun either, at people or at a live dummy.

I've never gone to an actual shooting range. But I learned to use guns in my teens: Rifles, shotguns, and handguns, using drawn or improvised targets. And I have taught my children as well, when they were in their teens.

I believe in safety though training and knowledge. Guns must be handled with respect, not blind fear.

^ Or not handled at all. That'd probably solve 70% of crimes these days, if not more.

I can safely say I enjoy shooting without being called a 'gun nut'.

Too many gun deaths arise from finding a gun and mishandling it. One approach is to teach, "If you see a gun, report it and don't touch it." However, curiosity still tends to win outf, with often tragic results. I prefer to teach safe handling first.

What about people who purchase guns for the sake of threatening? Or killing? What other use is there, really? It's one or the other.

Anyway, regardless of what it's for, a gun is a killing tool. That's its function. So in my opinion, absolutely nobody should have that power or even the right to its potential. It only takes one gun to kill thousands of people.

I'm not gonna start a debate though, so that's just my opinion and I'm gonna leave it there.

I wouldn't mind giving shooting a go, but I wouldn't want to own a gun. I much prefer swords! I'm a massive fan of Japanese culture, so kinda obsessed with katanas lol! Haven't got an urge to use one but i'd LOVE to have one sitting in my room ^^.

Also would pay of incase a zombie invasion ever happend...

Agreed. Even in the UK it's easy to acquire guns. It's better people know about them, and know what and what not to do than be largely ignorant of them should something happen.

^ I'm the same way DayDream, I'd love to learn how to use a sword/own one...

I've been taught some gun handling, mostly low caliber like 22's and such. I'm crap with a shot gun, as I hate anything with a "kick". I've never dealt with handguns before.

I was thinking about it earlier while reading a book about home invasion. The guy shots and kills one of two men who break into his home. The fire fight results in the second man getting shot but surviving while the elder home owner looses his wife in cross fire. The guy who broke in comes back with a lawsuit against the home owner...

If someone broke into my home my only action at this point would be to try to rope them or run... Not really all that comforting...

Yeh I wouldn't mind giving Iaito a go! It's got me alot more interested than Kendo, because of the spiritual connection one has with their sword.

I think every man has a spiritual connection with his sword.

Yeah, I think my boyfriend cares more about his kindle or his newspapers than his winkle.

    Which makes two of us.

    OH YEAH! Badom-TISH. Oh-no-she-didn't!

    Urgh...I am despicable.
