Not from what I've heard. In London 16,000 police officers calmed things down. Elsewhere, the rain did it.
No. But the only way the computer joke could have continued is if I used something from current or once was current news.
The riots are scary -- I hope all our WFers over there are okay! The problems causing the riots aren't very distant from the US's problems, and I hope riots don't start here as well.
It's scary to see the parallels between the issues here and there and what's been going on over there. For the sake of all of us, I hope something gets resolved... although the politics on both sides of the Atlantic don't give me much hope.
New subject... How does one dispose of a computer? I am ordering a new one tonight, mercifully. This one will not make it much longer. I cant believe I made this laptop from 2006 last this long anyway. I considered donating parts, but I don't think it would be worth it with a machine this dated and (ab)used. So I will be just disposing of it. However, I am unsure of how to go about that. Although I realize the information on my computer is not top-secret or anything really all that special, I am still worried about the information on here being accessed by someone I don't know. Especially as this is a personal computer, I would worry about a personal crime such as identity theft or someone lifting my information to things like my bank account or something. I cant just toss it in the trash can and be done with it... right? Should I just take a hammer to it and physically obliterate it?
I've not heard of such a thing?! I have the recycling bin that came with my PC... But I've been told that you can recall information from the Recycling Bin (and beyond) even after you've deleted it, so...
Best Buy will also take old computers. I think they sometimes make you buy a $10 gift card with them taking the computer. I also think they might charge if you don't remove the hard drive first. I don't think it's much though.

Could you buy white silk flowers and then buy floral paint the same colors? If you do that, so that you have contrast and stuff, you could paint some of the flowers with pink zebra stripes (they're already white so not too hard) and then paint some just plain black. Make the centerpieces out of those. You seem like a pretty creative person so I think you could handle it
^ it's 2:53 here. Just watched this documentary about the Bielski Brothers, three guys during Nazi Germany who created a refugee haven far off in the woods for Jewish people to go to when they escaped from the camps. They grew to a decent-sized community and used guerella tactics to fight back against the Nazis (i.e. blowing up the train tracks used to bring prisoners in). It was really cool and gave me some tactical pointers for the novel I'm going to write after I finish the one I'm on.
That is an awesome idea! Thanks for the suggestion, I'm definitely gonna look into it! Me three! I just got home from karaoke, and I'm not sure why I'm not asleep yet...
Lol insomnia is a joy, is it not? I left the first 114 pages of my manuscript at my bff's apartment last week, and she texted me today saying she's been really enjoying reading it and writing all over it. She's a writer, too -- even better than me I think, the girl is REALLY good -- and I'm excited to hear her feedback. Writing some more....I bumped up to 45K earlier today, trying to hit 46K...
Wow, Mallory, you're doing great! Keep it up! Hopefully you get some great feedback from your friend, too.
I'm trying really hard not to fall asleep. I'm very torn between my desire to do things...like skate...and my desire to curl up and sleep all day.
I think I'm going to curl up and sleep...then watch other people skate tonight...then skate tomorrow. That seems like a solid plan.
