I can't speak German at all, besides a few words and sentences, but usually I can understand most of a conversation, since it does sound a lot like Dutch. I know enough Spanish and French to make conversation, and I'd like to think my English is alright. Oh, and then Dutch of course.

I wasn't even aware they had A*s now. Only got two As, one C, and two Bs. Not too bad, so I'm going to celebrate ;)

    Better than most natives.

Thank you. I love it too. :]

Le' Edit: Would it be too obvious if I created a fantasy race called the Alamonians?

    I like the name! :)

I hate lazing around the house. I know, not typical teenage feelings toward summer, but whenever I have nothing to do and just laze around, I end up feeling useless. I need something worthwhile to do, otherwise I go mad.

I've been feeling the same. I don't know why but I've been really down today.

I've been frustrated with myself for not doing much all day. I know it's summer, but I can only handle a week or so of lazing around before I'm itching to do something again.

Same. I have been giving myself projects to do over this summer but I still feel like I'm doing nothing, or at least nothing important, while at the same time tired because I'm doing these things.

Like, for example, I'm editing my uni magazine.

That's EXACTLY how I feel during the summer. Oh sure, the first few weeks are awesome in that I get to do whatever I want, whenever I want, but sooner or later, every day turns into the same. I have nothing to do that's really important (tried getting a summer job, but failed. :() so I feel kinda useless.

Oh sure, there was that little bit when I was writing my story, but all that kinda crashed and I'm...right back to where I was when summer began. Not writing stories, nothing. :/

That's why I'm glad my college is starting next monday. Finally, I'll feel like I have things I need to do and I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something.

I feel that way with every summer, Link. I'm glad I can find some things to do, though...

Hmmm...I'm trying to work out a scene, but I'm not sure if it's realistic. Basically, it's set in 1815 America and my protagonist is talking with a circus ring leader who notices a boy the protagonist has with him...

“Ah, and this must be your slave?” Mr. Jacques bent down to Carlos who stood behind me. I should’ve expected this to happen. Many people often wondered why, when myself and my family were clearly against slavery, had a small black child working for us.

“He’s…an indentured servant, yes.” I said. “He came from slave parents that were free, but up to about a few years ago, they died of sickness. He came to us and agreed to work for us for a certain number of years.”

“So, he’s essentially a slave in all but name.” Mr. Jacques concluded and straightened back up. “How old are you, child?”

    “Eleven, sir.” Carlos replied.

I'm not exactly sure if indentured servitude was still going in 1810s America...

And I feel that this makes my MC hypocritical anyway.

    Thoughts?

Well for one I don't speak haircut. My sister unit was annoyed at the fact that I didn't get her normal lady who would understand the haircut she was asking for. And the lady was using terms like A-line and b.s. And I'm like o_O

Worse was the fact that she was trying to ask what she wanted through me, even though I am not the oldest and it was hard to explain without visual aids. I had the pictures my sister wanted it seemed very clear to me how they were suppose to go. But the ladies were confused they needed a completely different fucking picture than the two my sister showed.

So here I am the one looking through hairstyle books just to find the fudge I am looking for. I finally find it and the haircut lady goes,

"Why didn't you say you wanted a short disconnected a-line haircut?"

I was about to scream or at least beat the lady with the magazine. I don't know that crap. All I know is the picture I drew for my sister and it's called short in the back and longer in the front. My god woman.

    Never again.

    Damn...

That's rough. My barber is smarter than that lady. She knows what I mean when I say "short and even all around".

I know. It was very annoying. Never had this problem before, except this lady.

Wow, that's pretty bad. Most good hairdressers know how to find out what their clients want without being condescending or using terms they know they don't understand...

Why exactly did it fall on you to describe what your sister wanted done? Shouldn't she have been the one explaining that?

Well she was having a hard time already. So she thought that I could explain it because I am the one who told her a haircut like this would look good on her. I use to do my sister's hair...I mean I have always been the baby of the house. But my older sisters have always asked me to comb their hair or style it. Or even help them with their makeup.

So all the responsibility of describing it fell on me because I know better. But I didn't know hair lingo.

I mean it's b.s. I think I said that out loud by accident. But it was really hard to explain to this woman.

I shouldn't need to know the lingo for her to understand.

I mean that would be like a Starbucks cashier telling me she didn't understand because I don't use Starbucks lingo.

I always order, non dairy [they know what I mean when I say it Soymilk] small [a small is a tall] mocha.

I didn't and don't understand how this woman cannot get, longer in the front, shorter in the back. A little like this and a little like that. My sister had a picture of the front she wanted it choppy. And a picture for the back short and buzzed. I do not see how this woman couldn't understand that.

I shouldn't need to know the lingo for her to understand what I mean.

Yeah, from what you've said, she sounds pretty unprofessional. I've never been able to tell my stylists what it is I want...and actually, a lot of the time they suggest things for me that they think would look good, which is what I think a good stylist should do. Not that I'm saying people shouldn't go in with some idea of what they want, but a stylist will usually have a better idea of what will look good with a person's facial shape and such than the average joe looking to get a haircut.

Well I more than agree on that. If a hairdresser doesn't understand what long in the front an short in the back is then they need to go back to beauty school. Man.. knowing me I would've went off on her. :p
