The weather's been consistently quite nice here. Not exactly warm, but bright and clear. And the leaves are really starting to turn. All in all, the home counties seem to have had a very beautiful October.

Hey guys, just thought I would stop by and introduce myself since I'm new and all.

I'm a 20 year old Psychology student in the UK currently on my 3rd year now.

A musician by trade when it comes to artistic outlet but the other day I decided to sit down and just write something after the recommendation of a friend and aspiring writer. I actually to my surprise thoughly enjoyed writing a bit of fiction so I joined up to get some pointers, tips and info to further my journey into the world of writing.

So nice to meet everyone and I hope to speak to more people soon.

Hello psych major from the UK, hope its a good stay here in the the forums. What instrument do you play?

Good brisk weather today, so different from that anomaly of snow we had last week; wish I had my bicycle in working order for a nice ride..:/

Welcome, cb1990. :) Glad you've discovered the joys of writing. Might come in handy if you're more of a musician for song writing and stuff.

And the weather here is wet. Lovely rainy weather. It's depressing and making the pile of uni work I need to do even less appealing. Third year is busy and stressful. :(

I'm the exact opposite. :p Everything's cool and sunny and, while I DO have a test next Monday, everything's smooth sailing. xD

Better because next Friday is SKYRIM!!

When it comes to my instruments I mainly play guitar since I started playing 7 years ago but since then I have also started playing bass, doing some vocals along with some more production work. I like to dabble in lots of different areas with music. I think understanding more about different genres and instruments has made me a more well rounded musician. And the name is Chris for all who are wondering.

I wish I had the patience to do that. I used to play clarinet for like a year and a half to two years, but I got tired of it quickly.

I'm back! Apparently, my creative juices just needed warming up a bit (better known as sitting at a desk working at a novel for 20 hours in fairly short order). Much happier in myself now.

Main reason for posting here is simple: there's a lion on the loose in the local countryside. Yesterday it was in Shepley, and now it's worked its way to Kirkburton. Which is just the other side of the hill. A lion within two miles. A chuffing lion! Police have given advice to not go out unless necessary, and I really wish I was taking the piss.

Wow, 20 hours! What straight, in the same day?

A lion? Are you serious? has it been in the news?

I saw that yesterday, and wasn't sure if it was a joke story or not...

Not in the same day! It's been over the past week. Blame Nanowrimo.

And apparently it's serious. Local radio's been keeping people abreast of sightings. Then again, the police can't find it, despite it apparently moving fairly steadily north. So if it is a hoax it's a very well organised one. Someone came out and said it was a hoax earlier in the day only for there to be another sighting (not that the Examiner's picked up on it yet - it's the only local newspaper I've come across that gets its stories from BBC News 24).

Ahh, nanowrimo. I'm not taking part in that. I'm already some way into my novel but just the thought of it is keeping my motivation going.
I should be writing now, in fact. I sat down and instantly got distracted by twitter and here.

Good luck in avoiding that lion. Glad I'm in the south.

^ Glad I'm in the south too.

I'm so behind on my NaNoWriMo word count. >.> But glad you've got your creativity back.

This lion business does seem like it'd be a hoax but who knows... you better watch out for it and stay safe!

I've been out, and I've survived! All the lion business appears to have died down, so I'll agree with others who've said it was probably a hoax. An elaborate and well thought out hoax, but a hoax nonetheless. (Now, what are the odds of it turning up in Liversedge or Birstall?)

Now for another hour of job-hunting. There was nothing on any of my usual sites yesterday, so it's back to the Google Map plan of going down streets in Leeds city centre and finding law firms I can email my CV to with a pleading covering letter :p

    Wash your mouth out! :p

I'm an exile, a missionary into these dark wilds. I was born and raised in Warrington, in the North West between Manchester and Liverpool. I'm only here to civilise you barbarians :p

A hoax or a large Labrador with a feline gait?
Imagine living in a country where you turn a corner only to come face to face with some bear or big cat ...
Crikey, cows give me the willies. Further proof that God is an Englishman.

    ^ Scary thought.

Also, cows scare me too. I was half running when I had to go through a field with them. Walking past them at uni is fine though because there is a barrier between us.

Well, I'm originally from up north so nerr! :p

@ Art- "The Pope may be French, but Jesus is English!"

@ Eunoia- Cows don't scare me. Roaches do. Anything that has more than four legs scare the piss out of me.

I'm scared, well wary, of a lot of animals. And humans. Basically living things. Heck, I get freaked out by a leaf. :p

To be fair, the southerners do a bloody good cream tea. Even if it is an otherwise morally corrupt land of strange accents and weirdly thatched houses.
