The placement finished a couple of weeks ago, but it was amazing, thanks. I Just loved it. I came away with some proper goals to reach, knowing that I had a future to work towards. It was awesome. I'm sure your job's going to be brilliant, Dante; you've worked so, so hard. You deserve all the happiness you find. What is it you're going to be doing exactly? Law stuff?
Sounds like a cracker of a placement, that. I'm going to be a paralegal in a firm of solicitors' abuse department. So that means dealing with some pretty heavy cases on a day by day basis. I don't think I'll be handling clients for a month or two and I'll be starting out with paperwork and research (from what was said in the interview), but it's a start. And because I know the subject matter I'll be dealing with will be a bit depressing, I'm trying to spend as much time as humanly possible with Hannah over the next few weeks.
^ N'aw. Isn't it weird how life goes? For ages you had job trouble and girl trouble, and now both have come along at once. Always the way.
There may still be girl trouble in the offing. This is me! I haven't made a monumental cock-up in the last four weeks, mind. Though given the glacial pace things are developing at there's time yet for me to get all impatient and say something very silly. There's also a *bit* of an age-gap, which could be telling. I'm getting all negative again, aren't I?
Oh man anyone else going through editing? I'm at about pg 170, and still have like 60 pages left, plus filling in some gaps that I just inexplicably left blank...:/ Plus my first submission looks like my first rejection...oh yeah feeling the good vibes.
Haha, yeah I totally write like that. I wrote scenes for the middle and even the end before I got there, because you know when you get a narration just right, you have to write it out; and I have all these odd gaps now that need some mending with continuity. Yeah Go Writing!
Aaaah! The urge to write about a teenaged vampire hunter in Scotland has gripped my mind! It started just a few minutes ago when I was raking leaves on the front lawn when crack the rake broke, the handle turning into an extremely long spike that looked pratically like the ones they use to kill vampires. There, standing in the pile of leaves, with the cool wind in my face and the sky darkening, it hit me. A story about a teenaged boy in Scotland who hunts vampires. His attire: Wells Lamont Gloves, GAP blue jeans, GAP black long-sleeved shirt, a thin dark-blue GAP hoodie, woolen green socks, and dark brown running shoes. Oh, and the boy's hard-of-hearing. Got only one working ear that is aided. The other's too malformed, which explains why he has long hair to hide that deformation. He joins forces with a vampire girl (that he DOESN'T form a relationship with, btw!!) as they fight the other vampires that want to hunt her down for being a traitor to her race. Why is this? Why does breaking the rake give me a story idea rather than send me swearing up and down?
Here's a vampire story set in Scotland and it might give you a few ideas http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0192255/
I don't know yet. Perhaps near the border between Scotland and England. I'll likely create a fictional city for my dear protagonist. (What shall I call him? Charlie?) I was thinking that maybe a vampire war breaks out in all of Britain and this poor sod is caught in the fray. Vampires, ghosts, y'know, every nightmare you can think up of comes out.
You would then be talking about the place I've lived for most of my life then. If you need any help about the culture of the Boarder regions and Northumberland then please don't be afraid to ask. I've also lived in the Highlands, and been many times to many different parts of Scotland too, such as Stirling, Edinburgh and Loch Lomond. So, same applies if you wish to set it elsewhere.
Well, well, well! Half hour later and I'm already writing the big twist of the vampire book. I tweaked a few details, gave the girl vampire a name and gave her a huge motivation and drive. Namely, she's now the protagonist and her human companion Charlie is her second-in-command. What is the twist? In the words of River Song, "Spoilers!!" Here's a hint, though. My favorite book about vampires is called I Am Legend by Richard Matheson and my female vampire read it. I think I shall continue writing this. I am very intrigued.
Reading about St. Patrick for my History of Ireland class. Very interesting stuff! Mind if I ask you Irishfolk questions so I can check the book's knowledge with yours??
I've been doing the same. But I feel like if I say 'hi again!' again I'm going to lose it and start hurting empty Mountain Dew bottles everywhere.
Ask me anything you want. I studied Celtic religion for A level...I'm probably a bit rusty but go ahead
Ah shucks, I'm chuffed lol This sort of study was pretty popular in our school...RE was seen as one of the easier A levels to get an A in!
Right, I want you all to GET UP right now and go look at my submissions thread. There's loads for you guys to get involved in and I wanna see you all submitting something.
Ashleigh, serious question: Will you be looking at submissions objectively, or will you, for example, print mine out and burn it in a hatred ritual?
Of course I'll be looking objectively. Oh, and if I ever find myself hating anybody, they'll be rewarded with my sexy cold-shoulder. I don't waste printer ink like that.
