I have visited the north quite a few times as I am actually originally from there. But yeah, there is definitely a difference between the north and south. I think the south is nicer overall though.
Finally figured out how to use my webcam, and take pictures on it! Happy days. The picture to the left was accidental, though, hence the angry stare at the thing as I didn't think it was working properly.
Well, I'll be heading back North tomorrow. I have to admit, the South is a lot more friendly than I first thought it would be - and warmer, atmospherically speaking. I've liked my time here, but I must leave Chichester soon, and return to good old Sunderland. I can't say I haven't missed the place, and nor can I not say I'll miss Chichester and London, and my girlfriend.
^Chichester is apparently a nice place and the south is a friendly place! I was going to Blackle (energy saving Google) something but I can't for the life of me remember what and it's really bugging me, so much so I can't get on doing anything else until I find out what it was. Also, the snow today was pretty lousy, barely even snow. Got my hopes up for nothing.
It might just be the North/South divide, but I've heard a lot negative about the south, and London in particular. Now that I've actually experienced a number of places in the South for myself I can honestly say this: never listen to just contemporary opinion. As if people needed a reason in the first place. Chichester is lovely. It's a very fine city, very pretty, and I'd be happy to return. London - errrgghhh - I'm not sure about. Tash has taken me a few times this week and I honestly can't decide if I like the place. Mind, being on Baker Street was cool, I love the Sherlock Holmes stories; and I liked seeing Parliament finally. I will say this though: the Haggis down here is horrible. I almost feel sorry for everyone. (To those who don't know: it was Burns week last week and Haggis was being sold nationwide)
London is quite diverse but the busy city atmosphere has always put me off. There are some brilliant places in London though so I think that's what makes it most attractive.
I worked on Baker Street for two weeks in Decemeber, and I can't adequately describe how amazing it was just being there. That place makes you feel like a somebody.
I just had a phone text conversation with a 2.9 year-old My best friends daughter Daphne, who is 2 years and 11 months old, has been obsessed with books and reading since she was a baby. So it's no surprise she started reading at 2 and a half. Today though, something wonderful happened. She got her hands on her Moms iPhone and texted me, very slowly. I am filled with glee! She texted me fully supervised by her parents but they insist she typed every letter herself. Here's the conversation in it's entirety... D: Cat D: Dog T: Hi happy Daphne. I love cats and dogs. D: Cat D: Hi D: Cat D: Hi T: Two cats and a hi. that's very nice. D: Cat T: Hi back. T: Hat rhymes with Cat D: Daphne T: Bat and Cat and Hat D: Hi T: You spelled your name! Daphne T: I can spell my name. Teddy D: Daphne T: Daphne is a pretty name D: Daphne D: D T: Three Daphnes. I like that. T: Daphne starts with D yes. D: Daphne T: Hee. D a p h n e D: Daphne T: Teddy D: Dad T: I like Dad D: mom T: I like Mom. Hi Dad and Mom. D: Daddy D: M T: Daphne and Daddy and Mommy. D: RAt T: Rat rhymes with Cat D: Mammy D: Cow T: I like texting with my friend Dapnhe. It makes me happy. T: I like cows. They are nice. They give us milk. At this point Mommy takes over the phone D: Mammy Cow? I am not pleased by this! LOL
Baker Street does have a weird but definite charm. And Buckingham Gardens are wonderful - though walking around it and admiring almost made me miss my connection to Newcastle! Overall I honestly don't know why I didn't warm to London. It has everything I could want in a place, and more. The people seemed nice too: very friendly and helpful - some guy even offered me a smoke when he saw me stressing about meeting my connection, and though he did impersonate my mildly-Scottish/rather-Northern accent, it did make me feel better. I might have to just go again, and spend more time there I suppose.
AWWW! That text convo is too cute, and the mom's response on the bottom is hilarious. That is something most women would say...
A fight broke out at my school today...about three inches in front of me. I was walking with one of my best friends, and then a girl walked up behind another girl who was walking my direction and totally pounded on her. Then the brother of the girl who got punched started hitting the girl who was doing the punching. Another guy joined the fight, and I'm not really even sure why. But it was crazy. And right in front of me.
Wow, that must've been shocking. I'm glad that you weren't hurt. I am somewhat amused that some random guy jumped in though. Maybe he was in a bad mood and just acted impulsively? Or maybe he didn't like that a guy had hit a girl and flipped.
It happened every year in my high school cafeteria. I could tell because every student would immediately stand up to see the brawl. Once, I saw two girls going at each other. Luckily, they were stopped before there was too much damage done to each other. The teachers were always ready to intervene should a fight break out. Come to think of it, there's a myth that my high school was once a prison facility many, many decades ago. I wonder if that's somehow connected?
In my high school I was witness to a random fight just because one student accidentally stepped on the new Timberlands of another student while walking through the hallway. Blue Ribbon school of excellence was surprisingly hard knocks.
Loads of people were pissed that the guy hit a girl. I hear that the first girl that got hit had just gotten out of the hospital for something involving her brain. Head injuries aren't the best way to recover from a brain injury. Actually, the guy who jumped in is always in fights. I don't know what his problem is.
Thank God I got out of high school. The cafeteria was pratically the most unsafe place to be, what with the fights constantly breaking out.
Lol. I guess that guy's just always looking for a fight to jump into. Is there such thing as a "fight crasher"? 'Cause that's what he is. My high school was full of tough kid wannabes and were just all talk. It's good that no one ever got in a fight, but the drama and trash talking got old after a few months but lasted all four years.
Fight crasher! I love that. He's not even a big tough guy. Sure, he's like 6'4", but he probably weighs about as much as a paperclip. I'm surprised nobody's snapped him in half yet.
oh man down to my last few pages in my work...then fin haha, more like round 2 of editing, and sending out another query. I didn't know writing was so much hard work. I should also probably start writing something for the wf science fiction contest
