Hi all, I'm John and new here. Thanks for hosting such a great site.

The spell "checker" poem is hilarious.
I'm now going to read all "8800 plus" posts in this thread so as to be "up with the play", and not "off topic"
    It may take a while.
    :p:D

    Cheers,

    John.

I looked at some negative reviews after I went to see the film and made that posting, and they all included the word "boring". I found the characters one-dimensional and unsympathetic, and I was particularly irritated by the way every move, every surprise, was so heavily and clumsily signalled in advance that it destroyed any hope of suspense. At one point the Prime Minister tells the Gamesmaster that the reason they hold the games rather than just executing the tributes is that it gives hope. Exactly the opposite in my case. If they'd executed them as soon as they selected them, then filled the rest of the time with advertisements and trailers then I would have had a far more enjoyable evening.

Does that mean you'll be crapping chrysalises (chrysalides)?

Caviar in general just seems like a bad idea.
All of my fingernails are painted red except for the pinky ones. Those are purple. Got to love younger sisters with short attention spans.

Real caviar is amazing. Everyone should try it at least once.

Congrats on completing the second book!

I may try it eventually. But for now I can't get past the fish eggs part.

Thank you! I'm impressed I managed to finish something in that kind of time frame. Today, I float on wings! Tomorrow, I panic over edits. Hah.

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, and as a show of support another friend and I are going to shave our heads for a local hospice. We're in the planning stage, but I don't mind saying I'm actually a bit scared. Not the show of solidarity or raising money, but the going bald thing.

Don't know when it'll be, but it's been on my mind all night.

So sorry about your friend Dante. :( Is this a young friend? That's terrible either way.

He's 22. I've known for about six weeks now, and I've seen him a couple of times in that time. I wanted to do something, so me and another mate are going to raise a bit of money for charity. I'm also considering doing the Great North Run for the same cause, though I doubt I'd be able to drag Chris along with me on that one!

Moisturize your scalp. My uncle did that for my grandmother and yeah, just moisturize. And possibly have someone help.

My prayers and wishes to your friend.

Sorry to hear your friend has been diagnosed with cancer, at a young age too. ;/ It's good you're showing support like that. Good luck with the shaving head thing and raising money. :)

Tried it once at a banquet in Russia. Tasted fishy. Yuk. Can't stand fish.

How it is handled is important. If it has been frozen, the membranes may toughen. If the salting is not done properly or at the wrong concentration, some of the caviar may burst. Never use a metal spoon or serving dish, as it will add an unpleasant flavor.

Ideally, the caviar should have no broken eggs. That way, the taste will all be released when the caviar is in your mouth as a burst of flavor when the eggs pop. A little lemon juice suppresses some of the fishy character, if you don't care for it, but give it a chance. Like many strong-flavored delicacies, a small amount with other flavors present can be an absolute delight.

For example, I don't care much for goat cheese on its own. To me, it's like a sweaty tank top fermented in a gym locker for a month. But as an accent with other flavors, it can be w wonderful surprise.

It will grow back. But your friend - I'm sure he or she will appreciate the gesture. Maybe you can use the bald look to endorse a cancer research/treatment charity as well.

Oh dang, Dante, I'm so sorry about your friend. It's a nice gesture to shave your head - and hey, there are tons of bald action heroes, so I'm sure you'll look fine. Maybe you could buy yourself some cool shades and start practicing some intimidating poses to stand in.

I've been without internet for a while, and couldn't do much lurking at school because the site was borked on the school network for some weird reason. I hope everyone's been well. :)

I went to uni (my last official day) today expecting it to run as normal. Oh no, me and the other people at uni had to be evacuated from the buildings because of a bomb scare! It was a hoax apparently, emails saying 'there is a bomb in blah blah' . It happened on Tuesday as well but just the Students' Union had to be evacuated. Apparently it's been going on with a few universities. Not sure why they chose our uni, it's small. Also, I don't understand why you'd want to do something like this. Could be to do with the tuition fees, I guess, but still. It's a bit extreme and wastes everyone's time. Some people... ;/
