A bunch of short stories. Of them the three I feel I can talk about are: One about a man fleeing from fighting in Kenya during the 50s, one I'm currently redrafting now actually, a 500 word simple little thing, and a novella about Innsmouth that I'm writing partly for fun, and partly because I want to practice writing longer things. I have the idea for a book but I've always wrote short stories, so writing a novella seems like a logical step. You?
Two fantasy stories. One is just a fun-filled series of adventures, and the other is evolving into the typical "free the slaves, overthrow the evil empress!" deal, and my protag is your typical "I am of the race that's enslaving these folks, I think it's wrong, so I'll lead a revolution!!"
I enjoy critiquing, tell me if you post it and I'll have a look at it. I'm interested. As for me, I'm keeping ahold of these short stories and trying to magazine publish them. But the Innsmouth novella I'm not too fussed about, it's more an exercise, and I'll be posting it on Fictionpress when I get it finished.
Hi, I'm new here, and just wanted to let everyone know how impressed I am. I'm learning an awful lot. Great site.
I shall let you know when I do. I'm trying to get the first scene straight in my head now. It's all cluttered. @ Thumpa- I'm glad you enjoy it!
Glad to see you like it here, always nice to see a new face. Cheers mate. Fantasy is something I've only started to take seriously as a genre, as much as I hate to admit that, and am currently re-reading all my Tolkien. So hopefully I'll be able to give more than just looking at semantics.
To scare people with? I dunno, I thought it was pretty convincing. (ahum) Merc! Good to see you here! This place has too many familiar faces missing. Welcome! And yes, this place is indeed awesome.
Ben Whishaw's Richard II, in a recent TV adaptation of Richard II, is actually quite amazing, with a second watching. Watching stuff like this Hollow Crown series reminds me why Shakespeare kicks ass!
^ Matt's been banging on about that too, and he was really impressed with it. I shall give it a watch sooner or later, though I'm getting my Royals on enough reading A Game of Thrones at the mo.
^ Derek Jacobi is my personal favorite Richard II. But he was the first I seen. I've seen a few adaptions of that play and Ben Whishaw and Derek Jacobi are, I think, two amazing Richard IIs. So it's really worth watching at any rate. I've not seen/read Game of Thrones though, is it good? My housemate is in love with it at the moment.
The show is f-ing AMAZING and you need to see it right now! As for the book, I'm loving it just as much - but in a kinda bookish way, rather than a TVish kinda way. The characters are just...Dude. Go watch it.
^ Tennis is awesome. Sadly only two days left of Wimbledon. But on the brightside, got Olympic tennis as a bonus this year.
Aa, a place to relax. I just got a new pup (shihtzu) and my Shepard Collie (6 years old) hasn't been much a trooper in welcoming him. The first day he bit his nose and I'm sure my heart must have flown out of my chest and hit the floor. Though it wasn't deep, I was just...shock to say the least. My dachshund (also 6) on the other hand has been very passive with the pup and I suppose pretty much ignoring him. I feel so bad for him! But I'm told this is how the hierarchy of dogs run. v_v
Did you go see it live?? I only get to watch it on TV v_v. I desperately want to see it in person, FIFA world cup too.
^ Nah, not this year. I have been to Wimbledon before though and I've got tickets to the Olympic tennis semi-finals.
Lucky, lucky! I was aiming to make it this year, but it didn't happen. Have they announced where the winter Olympics will be held? *thinks about it* I guess I could google it.
