In lieu of previous mods when they step down making certain reference to fish, I'll swim against the tide here. From today I am stepping down as a moderator here on WritingForums.org after a year and a bit of watching over this place. And what a year and a bit! We've seen some really great changes to this site since I became a mod and I've honestly felt really honored to have seen it all. Radical change in direction and an amazing update that continues to get better. My full thanks go out to Daniel for that opportunity to help him out with this ongoing project that is this forum. @Daniel: Thanks mate, I really do mean that. I'm doing this for a number of reasons: I'll be starting a new life as of next week, going into teacher training to be a college teacher, I am wanting to devote more time to my writing as that's starting to pick up a bit, and also I just feel like I need a break from the kind of responsibilities that come with being a mod. As much as I do honestly enjoy it I'll not lie and say it's always easy. My huge respects go out to the remaining mods @Dante Dases, @minstrel and @Wreybies. I know I'm leaving this forum in very good hands. As that last bit might have suggested, I am not sure yet, but I will likely be taking a short break from this place as I get settled into my new life. I have no idea yet, but for now I'll be just stepping down. Thanks everyone, this has been ... educational. -Lemex
Aw @Lemex! I'll miss you as a mod, although, the remaining mods are wonderful also, but I love seeing the white wolf snooping around and leaving all those insightful comments about life and literature and forum behaviour. But I understand the need to have more time for life and writing. To be honest, I can't imagine myself writing anything if I was a mod, it must be so time and energy consuming! You were a wonderful asset to the forum, so the effort wasn't in vain. Best of luck my friend, and keep us updated on how everything is going. And good luck with the writing projects, because they are what all this is all about
Thanks everyone. I'm touched by these comments. Honestly, this wasn't an easy decision to make at all, I've been debating this for a month, but it's time for me to move aside now and get on with other things.
Thank you so much for your hard work and fairness as a moderator. I wish you much luck. In a way, I think you'll find that your service as a moderator is itself good experience for teaching, You deal largely with diverse individuals ravenous for knowledge, with a small but noisy minority more interested in gaining attention through disruptive behavior. You aren't responsible for providing knowledge, "only" in maintaining an environment conducive to the exchange of information and nurturing of creativity. And you have done this, very well. I hope you stick around, or at least visit. Either way, do us proud as an educator.
Best of luck for the future, mate. Thanks for all the hard work you've put in. It's been a pleasure to work alongside you for this past 18 months.
Well, I've certainly enjoyed reading all the interesting things you've written, about classical literature and all that other good stuff. You're a cool guy, with many unusual interests and a very pleasant and supportive attitude towards forum members. Hope you enjoy your time off, but please do look in every now and again!
Sad to see you step down. Hopefully you'll still stick around and contribute once in a while. Good luck with your teaching program. The English students of the future are in good hands.
Picture a squirrel bawling his eyes out over the departure of a wolf. Okay, got that? Lemex, you were the first to welcome me to the Mod Squad and you helped me stay on my feet when it turned out the job was scarier and more demanding than I thought it would be. You're a hero, dude. Best of luck in your teaching and writing careers, and goddammit, stick around here! I'm going to feel like a ship that's lost its keel. (Hey, that rhymes ... maybe a limerick is coming on ...)
Thanks. I know being a mod is a tough position to take but I know you, and everyone else will do it amazingly well. I believe in you guys. This ship has three amazing captains, keep it afloat.
Lemex! You have been an amazing mod, level headed and fair. And always with a fresh perspective and viewpoint to bring to discussion. I hope that everything goes well for you, and hope to see you around still. Take care!
Well problems have been minimal since I've been a member here, and that means everyone involved in keeping things organised has done a great job. You are one of those people, Lemex. Thanks for all your help, please stick around if you can, and make sure you enjoy your new life as a teacher!
@Lemex, will you be creating your own lessons as part of the program? If so, you should post some of them in your blog or something. I imagine you have some interesting things to say about 18th century (or was it 19th century? I remember you told me, but I've forgotten) literature. Besides, I love me some free education.
That's sad, I think you were an awesome mod and added a lot of class to some of those more or less heated discussions we've had here. I wish you luck, and, having been teacher trained myself (finished the 2-year programme last spring), can tell you it's a lot of fun and very rewarding. You'll make a great teacher, I'm sure!
