WF Short Story Club Nominations for October

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by thirdwind, Sep 16, 2011.

Post all short story nominations in this thread. As usual, make sure that the story you nominate can be found online for free. For now, nominate no more than 1 story. That way everyone will get a chance to nominate something.

I'd like to read The Call of Cthulhu, by H. P. Lovecraft.

Anyone else have nominations? I'd like to get the poll up in a few days.

I think you guys posted novels/novellas instead of short stories (this is, after all, the short story club).

If I don't get enough nominations, I'll just use a few of the suggestions from last time.

I STILL have to respond to the other short story discussion, it's coming, yay for having two more weeks.

    But this time around.

    I renominate:

A Real Doll by A.M. Homes
    The Lottery by Shirley Jackson

Oh, my bad! It is a novella. In that case, I'd like to nominate A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, by Gabriel García Márquez.

Since we don't have enough nominations, I'll add two stories from last time.

About The Man Uglier And Scarier Than Ratzinger by Dave Eggers
    The Ceiling by Kevin Brockmeier

I'd like to put up a poll by tomorrow evening, so if you have anymore nominations please post them before then.

I'm going to nominate another Dave Eggers story called Accident, merely because it's in second person and it'd be interesting to see what people think about this viewpoint. It's also a short short story.
