Was candying some lemon peel for some lemon meringue pie, then decided to make some lemon drops out of the remaining sugar only to discover that my candy thermometer is no longer accurate and clearly reading too cool (probably about 20-30°F) as my mix was obviously starting to caramelize way before the thermometer said it was reaching Hard Crack stage.
Not really cooked, since all the ingredients are raw, but this is what I made. Blue tomatoes are sick this time of the year.
Doing veal milanese with arugula salad and shaved parm. Haven't decided if i want to do pasta on the side too. Not feeling very motivated, kitchen wise.
Should you really be eating them if they're sick? Probably wouldn't want whatever made them blue passing on to you.
The world is odd Cave troll. Not just the blue tomatoes. Blue tomatoes are our friends. They make us happy. They give love in our tummy. It's just a figure of speech. Blue is a pretty colour. It turns your blood purple. Purple is a healthy colour. Purple is good enough.
Made pork burritos last night because the only supermarket open was the fancy-schmancy one that wanted $8/lb for ground beef. I sliced up some lardons from my homemade bacon and added them in and it was actually pretty damn good, might become a staple. Today I think I'm going to bust out the hot sammich attachment for the waffle maker and have grilled cheese and salami for lunch. Classy....
Homemade apple pie and water. Yes, it's not a healthy meal. No, I don't give a hoot. I cannot pass up homemade pie, for Yeshuas holy buttocks sake!
You know that saying "Eternity = 2 people + 1 ham"? The same principle applies for one person +1 roast chicken. My freezer is tiny, so it's been "creative ways with roast chicken". Tonight: chicken wrap with baby spinach, grape tomatoes, onions, and a sauce I made by diluting homemade Thousand Island dressing with mayo. There's one more serving left of that damn chicken, and no way in hell am I turning the carcass into chicken stock (as would be my normal practice). I am just so over it. Goodbye Henrietta!
This apparently is the way to bind the two, to make water. https://www.thoughtco.com/making-water-from-hydrogen-and-oxygen-4021101
I'll create a new universe tomorrow. Too tired. I'm heading for bed. Goodnight. Good day. Good whatever-timezone-you-might-be-in.
I may have mentioned I don't much like to cook, so I'm going to make a week's worth of hobo dinners today. Works out great, because I don't like washing dishes, either.
Going to gobble a simply MASSIVE amount chili black bean stir-fry with tofu. Noodles or rice is the question...?
Stationed there for two years, if we're talking about the same thing, and I imagine that's where I picked up chili and rice. Spam and fish noodle soup at every fast food joint, too.
