Breakfast this morning consisted of steamed sausages (something my boyfriend really wanted) he had them with beans and I had them in a sandwich. He said they were excellent.
unless you're a member of an Orthodox church, in which case it's the week after so you could have jelly beans for C of E Easter, Orthodox Easter, and Aschendale Easter Pasta and pesto for me today. Quick 'n easy as I am working on my van
Yeah, our corpocratic masters are trying to make Easter a thing here, but it's just not taking off. Halloween taps into the cosplay thing, but bunnies and pastel candy is just Tuesday in Japan, no one's getting really wound up about it. The religion angle is pretty much out, the locals really don't care very much. There is a traditional picture of the seven gods in a boat, and one of my students said that if Jesus wanted to join them for drinks, he'd be welcome to, but no one would get excited.
I reckon half the people you could ask in the UK would say that Easter is fundamentally about having two bank holidays either side of a weekend, often in Springtime when it's nice weather. The other half would come up with something about bunnies and chocolate eggs...
Girlfriend cooked some pork chops, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy and a sugar free raspberry roll cake (store brought). It came out great. Gonna have to find a way to have her cook more often.
Dinner tonight was mushroom and bacon risotto, first time I made it. Texture was perfect, but the flavour was a bit bland, I need to polish something.
Pulled pork in what the recipe touts as a Carolina style. The bf asked for it to be served in sandwiches with lettuce so that's what I'll do.
Carrot pie. I've never had carrot pie before, or even heard of it, but I have a tonne of carrots I picked up on discount and I'm in the mood for pie, so we'll see what happens.
This amazing meal right here, Spoiler And getting ready to turn the wheel of my life back on it's old course, due to recent news.
Pizza. Yes, that's not healthy, but it sure is tasty, which is healthy for my taste buds, so, logic on that. Hmph.
Depends on the pizza. Choose the right one and you get all food food groups (crust, cheese, bacon, and pineapple), even if they are a little heavy on the carbs.
No cooking was actually involved, but it is food. Energy Bites: 2/3 cup of smooth peanut butter, 1/2 cup of choc chips, 1 cup of oats, and 2 tablespoons of honey. They were meant to have 1/2 cup of ground flaxseed in too, but I don't have any of that. Mix it all together, then refrigerate for 15-30 mins. Take it out and roll into balls. Mine didn't roll, but they did squish together. Tasty, but kinda dry. Should make a good little sweet treat though.
A heart attack McDonald's. Cousin says he hasn't had any in months cause he lives in the middle of nowhere. I'll most likely have something chicken.
Baked some Easter goodies. Had some oven issues but managed to salvage it. Just little cupcakes with pink strawberry icing, jellybean eggs on them, with cotton candy peeps in the middle on top. Theyve gone over well.
I have 2 questions. 1-What is a jelly bean egg? 2-What is a cotton candy peep? I am familiar with jelly beans and cotton candy, but baffled by the notion of eggs and peeps.
They're just jelly beans. Just shaped to look like eggs have little speckleson them like a egg would. Thought itd go good with the theme. Peeps are little baby chicks made out of marshmallow. Idk if its a international thing but here in the states we have like a thousand different flavors of them cause....murcia. We were just gonna use normal peeps but uhh....the store got cleared out. Only things left were cotten candy and pancake flavor...we thought cotten candy would work the best
Ah. Seems wrong to think of egg shaped jelly beans somehow. Guess I'm too traditional for my own good. Chicks made out of marshmallows is just strange.
@flawed personality Here you go, Flod: Peeps have been around since 1953: Spoiler: For size Bunny Peeps, which I like better. They're fun to float on hot chocolate: Spoiler: Yep, size again... Jelly bean eggs (there are many variations, depending on the brand): Spoiler: Yep, that again
Over here, we have chocolate disguised as vegetables. But only at Christmas. ETA: As an added bonus, they're Palm Oil free.
Thanks for posting that! I'd seen marzipan at Christmas, but never those! Those are cool! Better chocolate disguised as vegetables than vegetables disguised as chocolate...
