I am at the Hammer-Mater's, so lots of things that can be eaten with a restricted number of teeth... A friend presented me with a couple of giant home-grown courgettes so courgette and cauliflower soup, a chicken curry with cauliflower, spinach, and , ahem, courgette, plus a fish pie with boiled eggs and courgette... I will have to re-think my hating courgette policy as both the soup and the curry were delish.
Going to a dinner tonight. Dunno what's on the menu, but I plan on stuffing my face with it. Most likely steak, veggies, whatever the hell else. Not drinking any alcohol. Gave that shit up after my birthday horror story.
White rice and salad. Probably the most boring meal in the world, but it's better than cup of noodles.....
Fish soup. From "leftover" salmon that I had cooked but didn't get around to eating (gratefully happy for dousing it in spices and leaving it in the aluminum foil I cooked it in, in a Ziploc bag), potatoes, harvest corn that I forgot to eat, some other vegetables that are "on their last leg" (broccoli, baby carrots), from chicken broth. Apparently, using vegetables in that state is a good way to make vegetable broth. Considering that I wanted to eat the fish as it was, I think that this should be good soup. Waiting anxiously for family to get home. I'm hungry now, even though it's almost four. Edited to add: It was a success! I didn't care for the fish-vegetable smell, but it was way better than it smelled. It was a lot better- and more filling- than the garlic chicken soup I made yesterday.
Not cooking, but the party I'm attending tonight will have great food. The last time I cooked something was almost two weeks ago (rigatoni with sausage).
Roast chicken thighs with coleslaw and garlic mayo. Top tip 1: I mix the mayo with yoghurt to make it a bit less heavy Top tip 2: Don't buy Greek yoghurt mixed with honey by mistake... (actually it is surprisingly nice... I might do it deliberately one day)
Not cooking it, but I'm ordering the next round from a Russian place research (what I'm having is actually Ukranian, but the Russian joints here tend to mix cuisines from anywhere in the former U.S.S.R.).
I noticed that when I was recommended some low-cal ice cream. They said it was better than the real stuff Anyway I like to leave my IC to go soft, but when this stuff went soft it also went kind of crumbly.
Hello darkness my old friend..... Think I'll get a chicken sandwich this time. With bacon. Bacon makes the world go round and life expectancy go down. Woot!
Gonna go out with gf and her brother and his wife. Tonight is Indian food. Samosas of all kinds, chicken tikka masala w/rice, naan an one (or two) mango lassi. Dammit, now this shitty breakfast isn't enough. Can't wait for dinner!
Beer and crackers....wait no that's just what I`m eating right now. Dinner was chicken cooked in corn ground mustard, with macaroni salad and baked beans. Nothing too fancy but nice. Filled the stomach for the aforementioned beer, Yuenling Lauger. I really only drink on the nights before i`m off and even that if I have something in the fridge. Which is normally only if I`ve taken something home from work. Given the multiple types of beer currently downstairs I`d say I`ve been getting overstocked lately.
Mixed salad with avocado, roast chicken thighs, and chorizo kebabs with paneer. Crossed a few continents but very summery and tasty...
Multiple ice cream cones. Buying a box of cones to do at home was the best decision ever. Not the best dinner but I did really good at breakfast with a spinach and tomato omelet so close enough.
We had a massive tasting for our new menu on Thursday, so everything we couldn't special out tonight just got served up for the staff. I can't move. Might sleep in my office tonight.
Perks of the restaurant life eh? Nathans Hotdogs with that stone-ground mustard again for tonight. Nothing fancy but not to bad. Also the most generic bag of chips, not even a label just a big grey unmarked bag of chips. Found them in a giant heap of crap left behind in a wedding room. We don`t lost and found food so ended up going great with my hot dogs. Also got a box of Stash tea, greek yogurt, apple sauce, and chocolate. All unopened of course. The amount of food we still had to toss from that room breaks my heart. Why be so goddam wasteful? Just glad I got my chips outta that room, needed something for pulling multiple bags of trash and a bedroom covered in glitter.
The Steakhouse yesterday was disappointing, so I'll be making my own steak today. Sided with mashed sweet potato, some gravy and for obvious health reasons, veggies.
Didn't cook it, but it was poached salmon with dijon-caper sauce, spinach salad, and Belgian chocolates.
