My husband just made the most FANTASTIC Indian fish curry (from a Madhur Jaffrey cookbook) I've ever eaten. It was light, and relatively simple (a yogurt base, with onions, cumin, lots of ground coriander, fresh ginger, salt, pepper, a bit of chilli and a dash of oil.) He used haddock, which is what she recommended. It was baked, rather than stirred and simmered, although you could probably stir and simmer the sauces as well, and add in the fish at the last minute.

I could easily have gobbled twice the amount I got. Definitely a keeper, that recipe.

We're busting out apple cider doughnuts with espresso gelato, veal tenderloin with rabe and polenta cake, and switching the risotto sets to sage and butternut squash for the weekend. Demos for Fall menu, which is dropping like an atomic bomb next week.

I ordered Chinese food but the girlfriend has other ideas. We're going to cook one of those cookbook recipes together.

Tonight is roasted almond lemon chicken with some grass salad with some shredded mozzarella mixed into it.

I made a bobotie last night - sweet spicy minced beef with a baked omelette topping served with kale. Kinda comfort food but none the worse for it

Takeaways are horrible up here, only Chinese circa 1973/Curry Houses of '78 + world's greatest fish n chips, + Mcyuck pizzas. Desperate need for prog/posh Levantine influence, if I spelt that right?

    ...

I don't think I'd like bobotti - blobby egg over mince gets a bit grandfather's plate [gob] for me:

'Bubble & Squeak - pedigree chum, cabbage, insulin from bathroom, use the dog bowl, grandson.'

    'Nnn.'

it is a bit unusual... key is to have the meat nice and spicy with curry spices but also sweet with sultanas and dates, I also had half a mango lying around so I chucked that in. I've made it a couple of times and nobody has died or puked, everyone seems, reluctantly, to acknowledge that, actually, it is quite nice.

Not sure where you are in god's own county, but if you are anywhere near Huddersfield, Cross Church Street has an interesting selection of food

Leftover pizza. Coffee. Water for the rest of the day because I'm in one of those moods where I hate the idea of eating.
