I finally saw the European version of that film about ten years ago.

Where did you eat them? Because fried catfish is the best-tasting food on the planet if it's done right, but it can be muddy.

Various celebrations in the Hammer House so we will have a barbecue... well two barbecues because of the social distancing limits of six people in the UK, so I will start prepping tonight...

Saturday's barbecue - mainly Indian with ginger chicken kebabs, kofte kebabs, tandoori spiced lamb chops, paneer kebabs, minted yoghurt, green salad, coconut rice, naan bread

Sunday's barbecue - mainly Greek with souvlaki chicken, butterfly leg of lamb, halloumi kebabs, hummus, Greek salad, tzatziki, couscous salad, flat breads

Eerily similar foods from different continents which all taste very different!

Also lots of hard bloody work for me, so wish me luck cooking tonighters, especially as one of the celebrations is my birthday so I will attempt the whole show in a semi-drunken haze (c:

Try to save the haze till after the barbecue - burns hurt more the next morning.
Shame you have to do your own birthday cooking! But, hey, it's strange times: for my birthday, I packed sandwiches to eat in the car, parked across from the restaurant at which we planned to go for brunch.
(Not as pathetic as it sounds: it's actually a park overlooking Georgian Bay.)

Probably isn't going to be too boozy if I'm honest. Got a couple of my bestest drinking buddies coming over, but with wives and kids or pregnant partners...

I had to Google Georgian Bay. Looks like a very nice part of the world, under the current circumstances, picnic at Georgian Bay sounds like a great option (c:

It was a really nice day, too. Watched people - you know, life-sized ones, in three dimensions!! - walking with their kids and dogs. Pleasant as our house is, sometimes the need to be somewhere else is overwhelming.
Today, it's back to same-old. No cooking: I made a four-day batch of tofu and chick peas paprikas, and salad out of the last cucumber from last week's shopping. Still a whole week to go; the cats and I are on a strict budget of canned food and beer, respectively.

I had fake chicken nuggets and some pasta with peas. My lunch was popcorn and my breakfast was two mandarins, a banana, and the last of my tofu scramble with kale (sorry, Homer).

I have a few more kale plants in the hydroponic tank that need harvesting. There's firm tofu in the freezer.
    How do I scramble them??

I usually just use salt and pepper with a generous sprinkle of nutritional yeast, but I know a lot of people season theirs with garlic and onion powder and turmeric for the color. I've eaten enough tofu that it doesn't need much to taste good to me.

To combine it all, I saute the veg first with salt and pepper (layer your seasonings, yo), then crumble the tofu into the pan and add whatever other seasonings/spices you want. Then just cook till it's all heated through and sort of browned a bit.

I try to press my tofu before I scramble it but when I'm lazy, I just cook it longer so the excess water evaporates.

I'm making broccoli soup, and eating dried apple rings while I wait for the veg to cook down.

The apple rings are the first product from the dehydrator I bought last December but only unpacked on Wednesday. If I don't control myself, I'll scarf down five apples' worth before the day is over.

(Got strawberries almost done drying now.)

I wring it out by hand when it doesn't need to be neatly sliced; usually soak in a little soy sauce for colour and salt. With kale, I'll definitely use mashed garlic (always have a little jar of it in the frig - v. convenient). Thanks; we'll try it as soon as I get over four days of kale risotto.
I've recently used up the last of the Y2K stash in muffins. Yep, they do keep 20 years in a tightly closed jar.
Do not keep dehydrated vegetables, especially spinach, in anything more pregnable than a Mason jar. We sealed them in plastic bags in a tight-lidded plastic document box, and the moths got at every last bag.

That's all fine, well and good, but ---
    What are you cooking tonight?
I used to ask new members what the little frog in the story asked every new acquaintance: "Who are you and what do you eat?"
    None of them answered.
On this thread, however, it's 100% appropriate.

Hello Kitty is five apples tall.

She only weighs three apples though. I kind of suspect her of having an eating disorder.

Homemade, carryout, or the kind out of a can?

(True confession: When I was a kid, I thought the canned kind were Super Cool.)

    Unusually laconic, for a writer.
