The obi belt that goes with Japanese kimono is very difficult to tie, and can only be loosened by untying and retying it. As a result, many Japanese women who have to wear kimono to formal events that involve eating and drinking will tie an inflated balloon (just a kids' party balloon, nothing special) under their obi, and when they start to feel constricted, discreetly pop it with a straight pin, giving them more room for food.
Well, it's muffled under several layers of silk, and she could excuse herself to the little geishas' room. Fun fact, a little geisha is a maiko. Maiko wear distinctive white makeup similar to that of geisha. Due to his vitiligo/skin whitening regime (you all know where the Debate Room is), Michael Jackson was occasionally nicknamed "Maiko" Jackson prior to his demise.
Dry rubbed ribs in the slow cooker with cold garlic green beans. And maybe a bottle of Gruner? Something white... it's finally getting warm out.
Combo late lunch / early dinner: Flatbread pizza (sauceless) with sausage, garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil, and a small spinach salad with cucumbers, red bell pepper, carrots, and creamy garlic dressing. And now I'm eating dark chocolate covered almonds, 'cause garlic = chocolate. Did a cooking mini-marathon today (Cooking 5K?) to have things already made in the fridge. I'm tired.
Peanut butter and pretzel sticks. That's right, its a five star classic none can resist..... woot woot.... @Shenanigator Thatsoundssogoodholypizzainpizzaheaven.
LOL--Truth: the reason I did the mini cooking marathon is because last night's dinner was a handful of potato chips , another night it was lazy guacamole, and the night before that was a big bowl of popcorn. @Moon, let me see if I can find the recipe that saves my ass from such nonsense: @Homer Potvin 's cannellini bean, broccoli di rabe, and sausage saute. It's one of the things I made today, and it's now in my regular rotation because it's so damn fast and easy and nukes well in the microwave. When I find it (it's way back in this thread) I'll edit the link into this post. ETA: @Homer Potvin 's Cannellini Bean, Broccoli di rabe, and sausage saute Shenanigator's tips: Most US supermarkets have hot, mild, or sweet Italian sausage. Remove it from the casings if you can't get it without. After trying a couple of different ones, I use the hot. I also cheat and use canned beans. Go for the ones called "small white beans" or "white beans". The last two cans of "Cannellini beans" I got were gigantic white kidney beans, which are bitter. Cannellinis are supposed to be small. Also, Homes advises using large garlic cloves and slicing the garlic into large, thin slices.
I have a craving for something raw and pleasant. Too bad it will not be easily acquired at the moment.
I'm having a flatbread as well (thanks to Plated) - Pizza Bianco with three cheeses (ricotta, fontina and Parmesan), figs and balsamic glaze, served with a lemon honey Dijon vinaigrette. It's my last night dining single!
Do you like your sausage in a hotdog bun? With something fancy like that I'd fry it up and then sautee some diced mushrooms and onion and eat it on a bun. Funny enough literally the first damn recipe you'll find on Google if you search "pork cheddar sausage recipe" is actually pretty much what I just described lol: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/damaris-phillips/mushroom-and-cheddar-pork-sausages-2353440 This is like some sausage-from-scratch recipe though, and they put the mushrooms right in the sausage. I don't know about any of that, but some sauteed shrooms and onion with sage and just a little bit of butter (after it's done sauteing) on a bun is how I'd eat any sausage like that.
Apples go with pork, and they go with cheddar cheese, so maybe a waldorf salad? Or chunky applesauce and a veggie? My Southern great grandmother would have made fried potatoes and fried apples with that. Totally unhealthy, but damn...
Yes!!! That's brilliant! Slaw dogs, but with a creamy slaw that has apples in it! One of the places I get takeout from has an amazing creamy coleslaw that has shredded apples in it, which sounds weird, but it totally works.
Steak fajitas. Cheater style, just steak with packet seasoning, onions, yellow bell pepper, corn, and weak-ass cheap cheddar, but it's been so long they tasted like heaven
I'm making pizza tonight with a home made spelt base (which is half weight brown flour). Need to get passata, garlic and the mozzarella my bf likes. More flour by the weekend too.
Not sure if it was the booze or the CO, but I was feeling a little woozy so I microwaved the last of my fajitas. I feel better now, time to head to the bar
A large salad made of baby spinach, tomato, & avocado with creamy garlic dressing, and a small portion of the above-mentioned cannellini bean-sausage-broccoli di rabe saute. Lunch today was two soft tacos, no cheese, with lots of salsa.
The wife wants to stay in tonight, so she asked me to make something she saw facebook (another reason to get rid of that abomination) pickle and bacon grilled cheese. Sounds terrible to me and I’m pretty sure it’s outside her diet parameters. I do this under great protest.
