Last night's dinner comprised of breaded chicken sandwiches with rocket served with home made chips and baked beans. For me, breakfast comprised of a rocket omelette and a couple of slices of seeded cornbread.
Bangers, mash, gravy, carrots and yorkshire puddings. Cos sometimes you just need something that reminds you of home and just so happens to be damned bloody tasty into the bargain.
Scrambled egg in a tortilla. I spit in the face of your gourmet meals! (And my spit has little bits of scrambled egg in it. Ewww!)
Got a thing for tinned sweetcorn right now. Microwave for 90 seconds - gorgeous. It's just about the only healthy snack I partake in. Problem is I used to work on a farm where one of my jobs was taking the bull out to graze. I had to get fairly close in order to clip the bull staff onto his nose ring, and the smell coming from his breath and steaming nostrils smelt exactly like tinned corn.
Breakfast for me was a mixed herb omelette and some leftover bread. I probably won't be in the mood for much cooking when I get home. I have a long drive ahead of me and we need to top up the food and pick up my stand mixer from a shop along the way.
Something something veggies something something. Why am I even on this thread whilst drinking morning coffee? Yesh.
Sashmi Deluxe platter (that's 18 - count 'em, 18 pieces of raw fish) from our favorite sushi place. I wish they delivered, but Mr. Kelly is lovely enough to go out and pick up our takeout order.
Likely some manner of fluffy cake goodness, like the white chocolate sponge cake recipe that I found for the bf's birthday. I'll know for sure when the idiots at the DPD depot finally get the damn thing labeled and to the collection point. If it's not there tomorrow customer services is in for another blunt call. The problem seems to be with my local depot and the seller doesn't permit collection at the depot itself.
Over and done with, but I made tzatziki sauce and mint chutney, got some pita breads, feta and camembert cheese, olives, charcuterie, stick salad of celery, cucumber, and red paprika pepper, pan-fried and thin sliced a steak I had, and dumped a bottle of white into the carafe for a nice dinner in tonight.
A big disaster with the 'lamb breast' - same meat the big Samoans adore - and we use for our donner kebab. ...I bought it for the price, fed up with the expensive shanks & chops. But, my god it tasted like medical off-cuts - even after the roasting for six hours. Would be okay as an economy roast for children, but with potato salad and coleslaw this was vile. Greasy teeth. So, cheese & biscuits...
Tortelloni stuffed with some kind of food. Chicken and roasted garlic, probably. With alfredo sauce. And some crushed red peppers and black pepper (if you are what you eat, I am 63% black pepper).
Some 21 year old Balvenie Port Wood scotch my uncle got me for my birthday. Holy fucking shit... it's like sex in a bottle.
It's supposed to rain all day and night, so I'm making a potato, parsnip and cauliflower soup for dinner. Also going to get busy prepping for my first long cook in the sous vide - 36 hour baby back ribs, to be served for dinner Monday night. I'm going to put the rub on and get everything vacuum sealed and in the refrigerator tonight, then get up at 6am tomorrow to pop them in the water bath.
Do you sear them a bit afterwards? I forgot to look into getting a sous vide cooker when I was back home (twice as expensive here), but something about ribs without a crust feels wrong to me.
