Was cooking to order some vegetable pizza from the local Kosher joint...but Goddammit, G-D rested today, so they're closed. Guess I'll just make some rice, roasted corn and plantains.
Got any jalapenos or salsa? You could go Southwest. ETA: I'm ordering Greek later. Either a combo gyro plate (chicken and traditional lamb-beef) or chicken souvlaki, rice and salad no feta. And bring on the tzatziki! (They gave me 4 of 'em!) ETA: Hell, it's the weekend, so possibly baklava too. ETA: And Grubhub brought it 15 minutes early, so extra points!
Oh yes, I'll take them out, slather 'em with barbecue sauce and get them nice and caramelized on the grill before eating. You really have to sear, grill or broil any meat that comes out of the sous vide unless you like grey , soft food.
My best investment after getting the sous vide was a cast iron pan and a bottle of avocado oil. You can get that sucker up to 500 degrees and it'll make an amazing sear in 30 seconds a side.
Like the Swede that I am I'm making mea... veggie-balls tonight! I've promised Lost some proper Husmanskost (homely food) and I'm making the veggie-balls beforehand so I know they'll taste good. They aren't really veggie balls... they are more bean and nut-balls, but that just sounds ridiculous! Bring out the lingonberry sauce (jam?)!
30 hours of 36 hour ribs have gone by, and I am very excited to finally be close to devouring them instead of watching them float in the water. I made a buttermilk coleslaw this morning, and we'll also be having corn on the cob. And these Absolut Grape Slings as a libation (though we are using Absolut Acai Berry instead of Grape. Gotta get those superfoods in somehow!).
It’s Labor Day, I labored today, so it’s going to be ribeyes and steak fries tonight followed by a large slice of french silk chocolate pie.
I'm 99% sure I can eat plantains until I'm dead. So, I'm eating that. I did cheat on my die-it today with a Lamb Gyro platter with rice and pita-bread. ....It was.....C'est très bien.
Love gyro, no place to get it in Osaka. There are some Turkish joints that sell doner kebap, but it's not the same.
Yum! Your posts about the ribs got to me, by the way...Got myself a small order of "finish 'em yourself" ribs and sides.
And they're even more fun when you say it really fast! But yes, on occasion I do love *enunciates precisely* fish sticks .
Would post fish stick meme, but it probably is too offensive around here to post. So just imagine I posted a meme about them that is not as offensive.
Bought one of those sous vide machines last night, and a couple New York strips to try it with. Walmart had it on sale for $50 (regular price $85). It's not the one I had been looking at, but it was doable for the price. If this one works out, maybe I'll get a better one later on.
