Still cleaning! The kitchen is a lost cause. Not because it's dirty per se - but because I'm expected to fix up the old fridge and freezer that looks like they've been clean with... something you totally shouldn't clean those areas with. Either that or buy "new" (used) ones. They've probably been around since the 80s and it shows... but I still think it's better if the new owners decide what they want rather than me spending money at it. Also the cupboards shed color when it comes in contact with water. Not enough to show whatever's under the white... but enough to be concerning. Can't wait for the apartment to be evaluated, photographed and shown... I just want to get rid of all my things already.
Getting ready for a picnic at Bear Mountain. Gotta drive out that way. Usually the views are nice an all, but I'm 100% sure everyone and their mothers mother is gonna be there today an I don't wanna go. Nothing more enjoyable then a national park full of "throw stuff on the floor, blast music and throw up randomly" amirite?
I'm going to try to get some weekend out of rest of today before my next morning week. Just two left before work gets back to normal fir the last three weeks if August.
Just getting back from the ER went there so that I would have a doctor actually look at the infection in my leg and decide what to do about it. This has been something that was first noticed by me over a week ago and I couldn't get anyone to believe there was something wrong. Monday I got a nurse here to look at the botto9m of my foot because of pain and he found a blister, but he still didn't see anything wrong with the leg. Very early Friday morning I got a different nurse to look at the leg and she started things happening to get it looked at, but that didn't go beyond her being here even though she stayed several hours after her shift. I was supposed to be seen by a nurse practitioner Saturday, but I guess that me being visible to her while she was here counted as being 'seen' by her. So today I pushed the limit a bit with the only tool I really have in a place like this and they arranged for me to visit the ER. Oh, and, I told them that the doctor who I haven't seen at all, and his nurse practitioner who I've only seen in her nonprofessional capacity are fired from my case. Tomorrow this place will have to present me with some choices for a new doctor. EDIT: I started writing that when I got back, it's taken me over 2 hours to find the time to get it all written.
Hit the post office this morn after my ride. As soon as I saw the extremely large and well secured package I knew it was lappy. <-- that sentence was not intentionally set that way. Spoiler: the lappy story... I joyfully exclaimed as I pointed, "Oh nice, I've been waiting for this to arrive now I can finish building my machine." He (post office guy) was interested..."Oh what machine is this?" "A time machine so I can go back and bring my 20 year old self here", I smiled manically. "Bring the younger you here or become 20 again?, he asked. "Ah yes, either way, I just need to be 20 in this current time." He smiles and continues quietly with the paperwork. I'm tired thus having too much fun so I want it to continue. "You see, the trick is to buy the parts from different sources, that way no one knows what you're building. If they knew what I was up to I wouldn't even be standing here. They would have whisked me away a long time ago." PO guy smiles again, "Ah I see, that makes sense, well good luck and I hope you're able to go back and find your younger self." "Me too, have a nice day!" Did a stack of work on me book this morn before dawn. Had a ride in overcast weather, came back in me ute for packages and ag pipe. Now 'aving a cafe coffee, lots of fiddly things to do but too tired. Did oil change and checked brakes yesterday and did tyre rotation. Rain came in again after noon. I'm a late bloomer, me ute is the 1st car I've ever modded. Learnt something useful about brakes yesterday. Spoiler: brake rant... Pads were installed a long time ago, but are only 50% worn, the slight scraping sound is due to caliper shafts slightly sticking thus the pads are a tad tight against the rotors. Brakes are in top condition. The DBAs are HP rotors thus made of far stronger steel compared to factory rotors which severely buckle after 10 mins of hard driving over The Sidling, thus for crap rotors you should run the softest pads there are so they don't severely scratch the rotors. They wear out quicker but at least you don't damage the more expensive rotors. When I put these 2nd hand DBAs on the front I got mech to install HD pads as an experiment. Nothing fancy, just next level up from base model, thus still fade out when hooning due to high temps, but due to hardness of DBAs the harder pads don't scratch 'em, hence also why these pads have lasted a long time. When I finally install my full set of new DBAs sittin' in me tool room, I also got a full set of racing pads rated to 750 degrees (standards are rated at around 300, hence the brake fade when you do a ton of heavy braking. Also with the new DBAs will be braided steel brake lines to maintain stable pressure, and hi temp brake fluid as normal fluid boils and loses integrity at high temps.
Got done watching a rather funny video, about how WH40K promotes fascism, and Slaanesh causes people to be gay. Pretty sad state we live in when people take fictional things and warp them to fit their silly agendas. It is just over the top fiction that is meant to be entertaining, nothing more. Geeze some people are dumb.
Waiting. There's going to be a lot of that this week seeing we're five people working a machine that would normally be operated by three.
Narcissism is pretty popular nowadays. Fortunately, it makes for good comedy, ha! OT: Working from home today, since I hurt my leg yesterday. What that really means is: Playing around with the WIP, making a few phone calls to check on progress then going out for a drive anyway.
Indeed. Not the quote thread, but a quote: "But I'll tell you what hermits realize. If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you'll come to understand that you're connected with everything." - Alan Watts That interconnected feeling, or perhaps observation is a better word, is impossible with too many people around, I find. Taking an off the beaten path walk in nature though, ah, man, its indescribable.
One of, perhaps my most favorite* scene in Cast Away is when Tom Hanks character is sitting on his haunches, just looking at the section of broken porta-potty. I can't tell you where I first noticed it, but one of the things that's hit me about people from various "primitive" tribes that I've seen documentaries on is the fact that they rarely seem to fidget. They may examine something carefully, look at it from all sides, discuss it with their peers, but unlike (speaking as a Gen-Xer and speaking of all currently living generations) they don't seem to feel the need to be constantly moving about. It's a skill I'll never learn, I'm afraid. *I know "most favorite" is redundant. I don't care, it sounds right in context.
Moving stuff up the attic and clean the balcony! On Wednesday we're taking the first real steps to sell my apartment 《--- equal measures of happy tears, tears of relief, stress tears and pure sweat because I'm going to have to do all the moving in extreme (by Swedish standards) heat!
Listening to some nostalgic doom metal music, talking to online friends. This was a really sad day overall. I did nothing useful and just reminisced about the past. Tomorrow, I gotta go to work... Aggh, I just want everything to end...
How did I miss this one on my earlier pass through this thread? A number of years ago now I read somewhere that sporks (you know, those spoon/fork combos) cause lesbianism. If that's true, what would I be if I used them?
Dying. I think. I've done almost all remaining cleaning except vacuuming. I'll do that tomorrow and Wednesday if I got the time. Now I need to find some kind of food before I pass out.
