Just started Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach. I already love it. She's an excellent reporter, and funny as hell. Every other page has me giggling.
Reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I am having a hard time understanding the book, anyone eles reading this or have read it. I could use some help with it.
I actually gave up on a book for the first time ever yesterday. For some reason, I just found Lord of Light unreadable. I will have another pop at it though. I'm too stubborn to just give up. I'm rereading Life, the Universe and Everything instead. This'll be about the 30th time I've read it.
I am reading 4 books at the moment: 2 at school- Incognito (Teachers made me! its not very good) Wicked (My choice, it is good) 2 at home- Wuthering Heights (AWESOME ) Silverwing (AWSOME the 2nd
Angels and Demons was a really good read for me, i liked it more than the Da Vinci Code. What are you in need of help with?
Just picked up The Road by Cormac McCarthy the other day. I've heard excellent things about it, and so far it seems like a compelling story. I've also started to read Book of Blues by Jack Kerouac, which is an interesting insight into the Beat style of writing that I'm a fan of.
The Lovely Bones. Very good. And cmax08 - I just finished the road and HATED it, only because it was so depressing. If you like depressing, then it's for you.
I've only just decided to give the sci-fi genre a go, and haven't read any Iain M. Banks, but has his other half (Iain Banks) written anything of note since The Wasp Factory? Oh, and I'm down to the last couple of chapters of the first Red Dwarf novel.
I don't know, to tell the truth. I've only read Consider Phlebas (this is my first re-reading of it), The Player or Games, and Matter. I've yet to stick my nose into his non-genre stuff. But The Player of Games is a great read and a good hop-on point for his Culture novels, if you asked me. I'd also recommend Dune, by Frank Herbert, and The Man In the High Castle, by Philip K Dick, as good reads if you're just getting into SF. This evening's been the first time I've sat down and really enjoyed a book in some time. I only read about 60 pages of CP, but it just felt so much better than some of the rubbish it feels like I've read of late. Rendezvous With Rama is about the only exception in the last six months.
I ordered Dan Simmons' Hyperion a couple of days ago (arrived this morning). Looks like a bit of a slog, but I'll give it a fair go.
18 new books on my shelf that I splurged on. About to get started on the shortest of them 'Coraline' by Neil Gaiman.
Arthur C. Clarke the collected short stories. The more well known ones - The star, Nine Billion Names of God, the Sentinel - I've read multiple times before but I'm definately enjoying some of the more obscure ones.
I saw that in Borders yesterday and was tempted. I don't know much about Simmons, so let me know if it's any good.
Just finished Coraline by Neil Gaiman. About to start on either Little Women or Peter Pan. Maybe Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood.... I have 17 books to choose from and I can't make up my mind!!!
Ended up choosing Anne of Green Gables. I"m quite enjoying it. So far I wouldn't really call it a story, but I can't stop reading.
I'm rereading My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George and just started reading Jack McDevitt's Chindi.
