I always thought it was "Tequila Mockingbird" for the longest time until my grade saw the play last year. No one ever told me! Currently Reading/Enjoying - Empire Falls, by Richard Russo
lol I love stuff like that So I'm still (sorta) reading The Dark is Rising because I can't seem to get enough into it to read it constantly, I also just finished The Three Vests:The New Brilliants my easy blast from the past book, and I am about to start a book called How it's Done I'm so proud of myself, I checked out about 10 books last time I went to the library, and I have read all but 4, and I still have a week to go. With school going, thats pretty impressive
Destiny of the Dead by Ian Irvine. It's the third book of the second series of this one story line he's got going, and the first series has four books. Read 'em all; most impressive Australian author I've ever read, so I decided i'd stick with him.
Sepulchre by Kate Mosse. Just started it really (got it out of the library today) but it's pretty interesting already. Lots of intrigue and deception and stuff. Also going to start listening to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson on Monday when I go to uni.
just read a good book.... ... called poisen study it was brilliant. what books has everyone else read lately.?
Just finished a short story collection by Ray Bradbury. The Golden Apples of the Sun. Reading Fevre Dream by George R. R. Martin at the moment.
I finished it a few weeks ago. It really is a bit disturbing in parts, especially the ending final face-off, but he tells it so nicely. Get a French dictionary though; I read it while in class and on busses and didnt have a dictionary handy --I think I missed out on some crucial or at least memorable scenes because I dont speak the language. I loved Lolita though, and I want to read his memoir next. xx Olgic --I loved Sophie's World. Not much for a real "novel," but it does a fine job of an introduction to philosophy. xx Currently, I am reading "Into Thin Air" which is a true account of Jon Krakauer's expedition on Everest that went very, very wrong. Interesting, but he takes such a long time to get to a point.
I was thinking I should, because there are a lot of French words mixed with the English. It seems so effortless with the switching between the two--and yes, in parts it is creepy, but he truly does love her I believe.
I've been trying to finish the Ernesto Guevara Reader for a while now. It is a great collection of very intriguing and concise essays and speeches written by the famed revolutionary. I got a recommendation for a book entitled Shadow of Wind, so I might try that next.
Just finished Good Omens by Terry pratchett and Niel Gaiman. Was a very good read. Im about to start The Stand by Stephen King
Just finished Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? while I was reading Lolita--now back to Lolita so I can finish it this week.
Currently reading The Norton Anthology of Poetry for class. It's a massive book, having more than 1400 pages. Good thing we don't have to read all of it.
Grossly exaggerated. Read the actual story in "Geisha: A Life" by the actual Geisha. She was angry that he had embellished so much of her story that she made her own. I have yet to read her version, though I do own Memoirs. As for what I'm reading: Conversations with God vol 1. and Tolkien's Two Towers. I gotta admit that I'm enjoying the LotR books more after playing the MMO. My excitement when I visited Bag End (despite being owned by the S-Bs) was epic.
I just finished Reading Like a Writer, by Francine Prose. It reminded me of a great poet (nobel and everything) who insisted that whoever works with words shouldn't try to be an artist, but a craftsman. As a craftsman you need to be an apprentice first, to other writers obviously. Reading their works closely, just like Francine Prose suggests. This poet, Sepheris, whote the most amazing prose and essays. He said prose is like a walk, one foot after the other, while poetry is like a dance where the steps are not in a sequence but make beautiful sence. My words, he actually said it better
My Swordhand Is Singing by Marcus Sedgwey. I'm less than impressed, but , as squodward says, "We must sufferf for our art."
About a third of the way through A Clash Of Kings At this rate I should be able to get through the whole Ice and fire series by the end of the month.
