Just rereading Lord Dunsany's "King of Elfland's Daughter." Excellent story and writing, but a bit lacking in real substance. Still worth the effort to find a copy, though.
Currently reading Neverwhere. I'm enjoying thoroughly--it gives me the same feeling I felt while reading Harry Potter.
I've done that before. Yeah Inkdeath is very good. Personally I think the second two books in the series are a thousand times better than Inkheart, which is saying something since Inkheart is really good. Inkspell is tied for my favorite book of all time actually.
Mm... I found Inkspell dragged a bit in the middle! Inkheart was amazing, and I've yet to read Inkdeath. And I've now started to read The Hobbit. First time reading it. My teacher read it to my year 4 class; I must have been... 8, so that was YEARS ago.
Check my sig. Haha. I just finished it and i loooooove it. I'm really sad its over. I've really come to love the characters, Derek is my fave. But Chloe, Simon, Rae,are awesome and even Tori is now tolerable. Has anyone else read the Reckoning?
I'm absorbed into Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward. Even though it's a vampire story, and it's so awkward compared to the rest of the novels I've seen, it deviates away from the constant need to present the fangs and to the physical and mental connections everyone holds in the books.
Just finished Eaters of the Dead by Micheal Crichten. I'll be moving to M. John Harrison's Light later today. Sci fi kind of mood now.
Currently reading a Philip K Dick short story collection, a Woodrow Wilson biography and the first Harry Potter book. The first 50 pages of the Potter book were a chore (took me a week) but it's starting to hook me.
Is this the first time you're reading Harry Potter? I'm finishing up the seventh book soon and this is my first time through the series. It definitely hooks you the more you go on, but I don't think I thought the first book was a chore at all. It's a pretty easy read.
Yeah the first half of the first Harry Potter book is a bit of a chore to get through. Stick with it though, its a great series. I am currently reading The Bachman Books by Stephen King. While I had to readjust to his word choice, I just finished Rage and thought it was a really twisted and amazing book. I am going to be starting Roadwork later today.
Draon Tattoo? ....it's a film? When did that happen? I was a bookseller at Borders for a while and that series was enormously popular. I never picked it up, myself. I just finished 'Fool' by Christopher Moore. Love... loooove.... love Moore. 'Lamb' is my all-time favorite book. I have it in the binding that replicates the Bible.
It was limited release here in the UK, because it's in Swedish with English subtitles. Apparently there's a Hollywood version underway. It will be interesting to see whether they let it stay as unsettling as the book and the Swedish film were.
I don't really know why they're already making a Hollywood version. Can the US not deal with subtitles? I haven't seen/read it myself, but I may rent the DVD somewhen.
I honestly love foreign films with subtitles, case in point would be Pan's Labyrinth, so I'm kind of annoyed that they are making a hollywood version. It is guaranteed to not be as good.
Subtitled films? What a pain. How am I supposed to text all my friends while I'm in the theater if I have to keep my eyes on the screen the whole time? And yes, that is sarcasm, lest anyone harbor even the slightest doubt.
