getting some ideas for my next story? looking for imageries preferable with SOUNDS. tweeting of birds early in the morning.
I don't understand the question... do you mean figuratively what can brighten any day? Technically anything could.
But theoretically anything could. Maybe you live in the city and the sound of traffic passing by your apartment complex brightens your day because it's something you are familiar with. In writing you can have two people describing the same exact scene, but one in a positive tone and one in a negative tone... and you would get two completely different paragraphs. But I guess if you are looking for cliche sound imagery... here goes: -autumn leaves rustling on the ground -sizzle from breakfast being cooked in the kitchen -children playing whatever games outside
thank you for these lovely ideas. I would definetely say familiarity brightens one's day but I am not all familiarity does. the sound of traffic is different because it hinders other more natural sounds so I am not so sure about this one.
But see... this is what I was referring to in my first post. You were talking about the "cliche" (and I mean cliche in a good way) or more "traditional" examples of something that could brighten your day. But I would make the argument that you could write something like "he woke up and the rhythmic thunder of traffic passing by his window that he had come to expect every morning put him in a great mood to start the day". Or... you could write it the opposite way "he woke up to the screeching sounds of cars racing down the street". Now, I probably could've written both of those examples better with more time, but I think I proved my point. If you change around a few adjectives and verbs, you can make anything sound good or bad.
agentkirb..Isee what you mean...that is an interesting concept if we want to go as far thunder rhythm but isn't the word TRAFFIC hinders it a little. in a world where motor and speed is at highest/lowest point, doesn't TRAFFIC evoke an negative image in the sense that it reminds people o being stuck in cars for hours on ends?

Maybe replace vehicles for traffic then I guess. And I probably could've thrown more metaphors and similies in there to drive the point home. I'm not really the best at being poetic.
the sound of piano music (preferably a soft classic piece) coming out of an open window of a nearby house...
"Good morning!" Dogs playing with their owners Light gusts of wind on a beach or in the middle of a field Young couples/newlyweds chatting about whatever
Rain hitting my window. Sunshine puts me in a bad mood because it's too optimistic, but rain has a calming effect.
I like the rain effect..I am just imagine sunshine and rain at the same time..very pretty to watch. how sunshine too optimistic? I agree rain has a soothing effect.
I'm not a morning person, so anything that seems "happy" at such ungodly hours tends to piss me off. Also, unrelated to optimism, I burn easily, so the sun is a jerk face Honestly, I prefer Autumn. Beautiful, overcast skies; the cool air that denotes the start of "sweatshirt" weather; the sight, the smell, and the crunch of leaves on their deathbed. Can life get any better? I submit that it cannot.
I see. I was born in the summer and so naturally sun and warmth for me is optimism . I also like autumn and the colours and the mystiness of it all..it has its charms of course..but then there is winter snow and spring and flowers so yes they are loveable to me.
a child's laughter a stranger's smile a sudden shower on a hot day the sun coming out on a grey day seeing a fresh snowfall on awakening a favorite song being played on a bell tower's chimes newborn puppies' first 'yips' a newborn child's first cry anyone saying 'i love you' and meaning it a 'sick' car engine returning to a healthy 'purr' a cat purring happily on your lap the aroma of homemade soup simmering on the stove the scent of lilacs after a light rain seeing a double rainbow
Well, I guess you're not much for watching skimpy dressed girls strolling by through a lush sun-dappled park...
