    Nice drawing Odile

Who is your character a small description of what he looks like and some context of the world he inhabits?

Oh no she doesn't have a computer made out of water. She can program water.

Like, she can touch a pool of water and be like. "You are my roof, so get above me, and stay." and it will. This is not normal in my world. Normally magic requires constant focus.

I love the concept. I read lots of science fiction and i love BIG IDEAS. I also like it when fantasy does world building in such a way that there magic system is that BIG IDEA. I eat that stuff up everyday and twice on sunday.

I hope people keep posting characters pics this is fun stuff.

I'm gonna go see if i can find a picture of Trixie my cheerleader thats out for bloodthirsty revenge. Finding a picture of Thelma who girlfriend who gets mortally wounded in front of her will be easy. I just have to find a picture of a hot librarian.

    Alright, I'll do it!

    CSELD9HVAAA9DJZ.jpg

Miko, more or less. His ethnic heritage is more mixed, like most people in his homeland, but hell if this man's lips and cheekbones aren't on point. Mmm. Anyway.

The real person in this picture is actually relevant. His name is Hong Jinho, he's a retired pro-gamer turned TV personality. He is so dorky and gullible but secretly brilliant. And that's Miko in a nutshell. He is the epitome of the "looks like a cinnamon roll but could actually kill you" meme. He's a nice guy but don't piss him off. He might be able to rip your soul out of your body.

Big ideas sounds like me. lol.

Lets see. In my work. I currently have a 2.5k magical model that is trying to be as MINIMAL as possible because it just describes the rules. Any result in my world is a result of those rules. I have thought about it a long time! Like if ya read the model you would see exatly what Mindy is and why her power is rare and the limitations and applications of it :D.

I've got at least three main characters (all women)

This is what Maeve (Main #1) looks like:

    Maeve (2b).jpg

    Then there's Katherine (Main #2)

    'Katherine'.jpg
A very passionately, emotionally driven woman/witch

And finally, there's Andrea (Main #3)....
    Andrea O'Brien (3).jpg
The slightly older sister of Katherine, she reprents, intellect, tradition, and wisdom. She was inspired originally by Andrea Corr of Irish band The Corrs but also takes inspiration from Nigella Lawson and Catherine Zeta Jones.

A small description on Maeve? I like that you do your own art. I do that as well if I need to get something out of my head.

I don't feel the need to post concept art. :supersleepy:

Marckus Syrilious is a 6ft4 massively burned slab of muscle with virtually
no hair on his body, and is 55 years old though due to cryo 275+.
Wears a gasmask to hide his heavily scarred face, which has modified
lenses to allow him to see in the dark and infra-red. And carries a modified
.50 Desert Eagle (an antique) that is his most prized possession, and he
is not afraid to use it on his enemies. And holds the rank of Ober-Commander,
which is basically the same a 3-Star General, only Marckus is active on the
    combat field.

    Graxis is a 7ft Reptillian/Saurian with greenish/bronze scaling. At 238
is a master swordsman, but has a strange fondness for the Confederation
issued 15mm pistol. He is also a more modern Centurian, forgoing the
old clan traditions of displaying his status and achievements with heavy
alloy rings on his body. While appearing more like a carnivore, he is
omnivorous and has a tail. Also wise in his younger age, with a high
sense of discipline and honor. Despite being a Captain and extremely lethal
soldier, is quite gentle when there is a need for it.

Corlixia Burvonn (AKA The Mother Confessor) coming in at a towering 5ft7.
is not to be underestimated. Bio-engineered with tetra-helic DNA mixing
both carbon and silicon, gives her a massive advantage at not getting ill
and granting her an extremely long life. Estimated to be anywhere from
500-1000 years old, she is about the maturity of a hyper-intelligent woman
in her 20s. She has no idea of her origins, who created her, nor does anyone
else considering all the strange aspects about her. Though she is physically
durable with her two hearts, and woven carbon nano-tube endoskeleton.
For more fun she is considered highly attractive and exotic, even if she
has two pair of legs and is unable to reproduce. Despite all that it gets
darker as she literally made a name for herself in the galaxy by being the
best and most sadistic interrogator that has ever existed, all because she
did not want to wind up on a dissection slab.
Add to all that she pilots a 5m tall Medium Armor war-frame, which the
Centurians trained her to do when she joined their military. Also a trained
field medic/surgeon, she can be the sweetest angel, or your worst nightmare. :p

Your characters sound similar to Simon R. Green's deathstalker series. I love love love those books, Owen deathstalker boosting is quite the sight. I love details, nicely detailed characters CT

Main characters, or protags? I've split mine up. :D

    Main characters:

Ben Carter: GP with an interest in cardio surgery. Doctor to the protags, he's Black Carribean, in his mid to late 50s with thick black hair and dark brown eyes. When he's not working for the protags, he helps out in his sister's Neuro and psychology rehab centre. He's not the oldest character in my WIP, but he's a fatherly type figure, trying to keep the following characters in check, while they give him the run around and seem hell-bent on making his life a misery. :D

Add in the confusion of important x-rays of the protags that have either gone missing, or never existed in the first place, and he's about to burst a blood vessel with the stress. . . And then it gets worse for him.

Sven: Chief of security and bodyguard to the protags (Scott and Tracey Thornton). 5ft 5" with short blond hair and green eyes, he's very passionate about his job, and very protective of the Thorntons and their villa. Because he's so petit, and looks more like a self-starved rock band groupie/wannabe guitarist, no one takes him seriously as a bodyguard - that's their undoing, not his. He's married to Pierre, but doesn't see a reason to flaunt the fact that he's gay. He and Ben often disagree on what is best for the Thorntons, but somehow, Sven always seems to get his way.

Sven and his sister were homeless when the Thorntons met them, but that's for a previous book that hasn't been written yet. ;)

Pierre: The Thorntons' Chauffeur and pilot. He is, as his name suggests, French, about 5ft 8" with dark hair and eyes. He has a cheerful, friendly, sometimes cheeky disposition and has a tendency to get more cheerful as Sven's mood darkens. :D

If Sven is adept at getting his own way against Ben, Pierre is adept at getting his own way against all staff members. He also has one of my favourite lines in the book.

Protags: In this book, the protagonists have both had their memories wiped, so they don't know anything about their marriage, or their relationship, and devices of a mysterious nature are implanted in their bodies, keeping them from remembering - if they remember, they die.

Scott Thornton: 6ft tall with black hair and blue eyes, fit, he has muscles in all the right places. :p He's introverted, and enjoys reading a book, playing games on his tablet, or going for walks, either alone, or with his wife, Tracey. He is, nonetheless very compassionate and empathetic, with a self assurance and inner strength and that Tracey quickly learns to depend upon.

But he's no pushover. He's fiercely loyal, adores his wife (not that he knows that, of course), and is prepared to kill and die for her and their marriage,

Tracey Thornton: About the same height as Sven, with auburn hair and grey eyes. She's much more unnerved by the loss of her memory than her husband, and the world seems like a very scary place for her without it - but she's not to be underestimated - she's a badass chick with a two-speed temper, depending on the nature of the insult.

Anyone coming between her and her husband and/or attacking their marriage, wants to hope and pray that Scott gets to them first, because he'll just kill them - Tracey'll torture them.

thanks. Yes I know exactly what you mean. This makes it much easier for me to actually see my characters and therefore easier to write the story.

Small description of Maeve? Well, she's based on Queen Maeve of Irish Legend and basically doesn't /can't take no for an answer. Her personal honour and pride mean everything to her and she can't handle personal humilation very well. Can't really give any more information without giving the plot of my story away.

Also, another thing to note is that Andrea's hair is lot more longer and curly that what you see here.

My book is actually taking the form of an episodic Gothic Horror literary magazine complete with images, bios of the characters, first hand accounts of terrifying experiences etcetera.

The book is called "Memoirs of Asylum"; it takes place in an Appalachian Mountain community that was founded to preserve monsters.

The monsters in the book are almost all original, given the scientific term "Ultracryptids" to distinguish them from standard, more well known cryptid entities like Sasquatch, Jersey-Devil or Mothman.

The book is nearing completion, I've finished some of the stories in it already and done most of the artwork myself using 3D and 2D graphics applications.

The first image is from the finished story "The Visitor"; a young lady named Miranda is stalked by something extremely dangerous on a stormy night when she tries to get some sleep.
    miranda visitor 1200.png

The second image is from the finished story "Darkling"; it's about a hybrid human/monster who works as a pole-dancer at a night club. This story includes Historical elements, a rabid pack of Inverse Lupine-Shifters terrorizing the community, artificial aging for minors who were rendered ageless after having been "Turned", etcetera.

    pd edit.png

The third image is of a gifted teen named Eric, who was brought to Asylum by his mother when he exposed a secret government initiative called "Project Illuminate" which threatened to remove the rights of highly gifted minors and make them federal property for a very twisted reason. He and his mother come under the Founder of Asylum's protection, and he describes his experiences there and his coming to terms with the existence of monsters.

    ERIC 1200.png
"Eyes in The Dark" is a story about a missing hiker who ventured into Asylum's forests and was never seen again, but the last image on his digital camera suggests that he was the victim of an Ultracryptid attack.

The journalist who investigates this mystery invites three local monster-hunters to discuss the image and give their thoughts on what it might have captured; they eventually suspect that the hiker captured the first ever image of a Sadist Night-Walker, one of the most terrifying and mysterious legends in the region.

    SNW.png
There are more stories to include until the collection is complete, and there will be plenty of images to go along with the them. :)

My only science fiction is a short story about a young spacer(a person who roams the vast expanses of different solar sytems in search of, in her case, space ship fuel. Which is in this universe, a hot commodity). The story starts off with her exploring an unknown planet in a largly uncharted part of the galaxy.

Joanna Starski - is the spacers name, A young woman (31 years old or so) who is a sprit of new age steam punk/gear head, of the new millinium. She's has the makings of Laura crauft, except instead of tomb raiding, she's more into planet raiding... For fuel. She has a rusty ol' spaceship, that does happen to have a kind of warp drive, and a rusty ol' jetbike that is basically a jet engine with a saddle on it. Adventures of the Steampunk/gearhead spacer is the premise, inspiration and main theme of the entire story. Joanna also has a shipmate, who is her assistant and helps her fly the ship, locate tatocorscen(spaceship fuel), and map new/unknown planets.
    His name is Grimmlet.
A two and a half foot high alien grey alien, who is just as rude as he is lazy. Grimmlet is a Tehotten, from some volcanic planet discovered in the civilized part of the universe, and is somewhat of a heat freak.

Hsi Wu from Jackie chan adventures-The inspiration for the character and basic image of Grimmlet. Take away the red eyes, trade them in for jet black, obsidian type eyes.. Take away the wings, and trade the antenna for a full head of thin white hair, and matching eyebrows. And make him 2&1/2 ft tall. And you have Joannas not so trusty assistant.
The exact same elf ears and evil grin with a measure of pointy teeth.

I've only gotten maybe 5 chapters in, but I thoroughly enjoy making up content for the two free lance spacers. And I'm thinking of making the story apart of the guardians of the galaxy series. Seeing as the guardians movies share many of the themes I have in my story.

You have a very interesting way of illustrating your characters. Graphics are beyond my skills, so I understand the time and effort it takes to project the image of your characters. And their background seems intriguing too.

By now, my only illustrated character is in my avatar, Jan Novak. He's a ten year old with affinity to the hunt, nature and... well, drama. He's part of a series of tales written in Dog-English that I pretended to rewrite properly once I learned the language and get the time for it. But meanwhile I'm working on my detective's tale (which has six chapters until now :D ).

Thank you. Yes, I hit a busy spot in my life and haven't been on here as much as I wanted to be, but I think things have slowed down enough to get back to contributing. :)

And, thank you for the compliment. I've been a visual artist ever since I was a child; began with sketching dinosaurs on the blank pages of my Dad's Bible. When I grew up, I graduated to digital 2D art, then to 3D, and now I'm making animations and video games in my spare time. Asylum has been an emerging series of stories in my head for over a decade, so now I'm beginning to get it out to the world; some of the stories are refreshingly weird. :)

I'm happy to hear that your own story is progressing, as well! I need to read your posted chapters again. Nice image, by the way; you definitely have the talent for visual art.

Hey, if you have some sample chapters of your story for beta reading, or simply you wish to share them, I'm gladly reading them.

And about the image, I didn't made it. It was made for me by an artist nicknamed Ravengrim, since he liked his story. He is a talented guy, but I lost contact some years ago. He made some other illustrations too, for some fanfics I made for him and other characters in my tales. What is me, attempted to draw sometime ago, but my fingers are too stiff for the trade, so, learning to draw is in the wishlist for the moment.

I really wish I could have an artist draw one of my MCs. A guy in tights that is wearing a lion head. Although, that idea still needs some tweaking.

I want to describe my antagonist because he is one of the few non human characters.

Jormond: A huge wingless dragon with deep blue scales and striking yellow eyes. He has two sets of spines running from the top of his head to his tail. He starts out at 30 meters long, but constantly grows as he consumes food till he rivals the clouds.

Rose: Our heroine, she has long black hair tied in twin braids, and green eyes. She is white, with fair skin, about 5 7' in height, and average build. She has two scares running down the back of her left leg from events back in chapter one.

    I'm back.

This is Joan Ripley, my zombie apocalypse heroine. I'm smitten with her. She's a beast.

    upload_2018-6-17_11-10-44.png

She was kind of a punk when she was younger. She got into a lot of fights. Her family threw her out on her eighteenth birthday.

But she has a spine made out of steel. She joined the army, went to college, and got a degree in engineering. She decided to stay in the army and try to build a career there. She became a marine, then a marine sniper. She is impossibly badass.

Then the zombie apocalypse happened. The military collapsed, and Joan was taken captive by a white supremacist group called the Aryan Brotherhood. She convinced Dane (the fourteen year old boy guarding her cell) to help her escape. At first, she disliked him and intended to abandon him as soon as they escaped together. Instead... Joan showed him actual affection and treated him like an adult, and Dane instantly adored her. They stayed together a week, then a month, then a year. Dane is a lot like her: he's kind of a punk, too, and he has really rough background.

    Now, six years have passed. Joan is roughly forty, and Dane is roughly twenty. They are mentor and protege. They are an impossibly badass action-hero duo and I love them both so much. ;_;

Jormond looks something like this. Images do not belong to me, just using it for a concept. No copyright infringement intended.

If i can find the time I'll try to do a drawing of him on paper.
