what gets you in "the zone"?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by RockyMtn.Wheelz, Nov 18, 2007.

You know, those times when you're hyped up and abnormally happy or excited? What gets you there?

For me, the answer is usually music.

    Sleep deprivation, surprisingly.
I regularly reach this stage when I haven't slept well for a few days that is almost like being a little drunk (the happy kind). I can stay there for days, getting just a very few hours of sleep each night, before I collapse or suffer even more sleep deprivation and become sullen and annoyed.

Many things. A good action movie, music, a fun video game, Doctor Gregory House, and anything with Adam Sandler in it.

Music, booze, gigs. Or a combination of the three.

And a good game of rugby and soccer to. Going to the gym gets it going as well.

Late nights, strong coffee, expensive alcohol, and good loud music.

Music, good sleep (Or lack of) and some times I simply wake up with the urge.

Fast music does when i am getting ready for a night out, it has me dancing around the bedroom like an idiot. Getting a nice compliment of someone or just feeling very good about myself for a change makes me giddy. Drinking, obviosly, makes me more hyper. That is until I fall asleep on someone's knee. :p

Can't remember what gets me hyper it's been so long since I felt good like that. As for being down - just waking up is enough these days.

(Going with the trend here...) Music. Friends, good weather, being able to relax, good movie, tv show and just returning to my home planet....opps, I don't think I was supposed to say that!

In the zone means something a little different to me. To me, being in the zone means feeling ennervated and creative, rather than specifically euphoric.

With that in mind, what gets me in the zone is a nice, meaty intellectual challenge. Nothing sparks my imagination like a sweet problem to look at from different perspectives, especially an abstract one.

Yet this is not unrelated to the euphoric definition, because there is no feeling like the satisfaction of coming up with an elegant, innovative solution to such a problem. It need not be a practical solution, but it has to be creative.

I become insufferably excited and bouncy when it happens. :)

I would have to say coffee(or anything else with caffeine) or some real good music. Lately I have been very energized when relearning my math for my college entrance exam. I think I am energtic because apparenly I am not as dumb as I once thought :p
    LOL
What gets me motivated for writing is reading someone elses really amazing piece and me feeling the need to do better than them....or at least equal to the piece they have written.

For me, it would have to be Music. I absolutely love Pink Floyd, although their music is rather dark, it sometimes makes me happy, usually after a hit of sweet old Mary Jane. :) Or after a Vicodin. And no I'm not some big druggie, I smoke weed (Which in my eyes is pretty much harmless) and just happened to get a subscription for Vicodin pain pills for my broken finger last week.

Watching a film that is so sad it makes you cry but you love it. Like Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. That film has be bawling my eyes out but I love it and it is soooo sweet. And Of Mice and Men. Sweet films like that.

Red Bull gives you wings. Which isn't all that helpful when driving. Just ask Nathan Petrelli.

I love the one where the bird relieves itself on the guy's shoulder. He looks up, annoyed, then pulls out a Red Bull and quaffs it. He flies up above the bird, and starts undoing his trousers, and the bird squawks in horror!

    O.O That is disturbing......

Oh and be careful with energy drinks like red bull, follow the recomended amount on the can. A guy in Australia was drinking the stuff non-stop, had about eight cans or something then collapsed-He'd had a heart attack.

There is also this other energy drink being released (or has been already) And it's in the form of powder. It's called, get this, I Love Blow (the love is a heart so I'm assuming it's I heart Blow) so it's pretty scary. It's comes in this chapstick sized container and it comes with a fake credit card and a mirror (I think) So it's like OMG....... and besides, Red Bull looks rather, er, pee colored......(found out after tipping my first, only and last can down the sink!)

I like Red Bull. But I don't drink it often. I avoid most of those types of energy drinks. Too much caffeine and sugar in them. And if you overdose on caffeine you can kill yourself.

    make your own energy drink.
    1 bottle of water.
1 or 2 tablespoons of sugar
a splash of vinegar or lemon juice.
saw a health show and it was the best of all of them.
    a lot cheaper too.

what gets me energized is children. ages 2 and up.
just love being around them. Their energy sort of gets mine up.
but oh the crash when they are gone.

If it's lemon juice, it's basically a refreshing light lemonade. Lime, orange, or grapefruit are good too. Vinegar, not so much. :)
