Also, why does everyone think where they live is lame? I bet Idaho is hoppin' on a Friday night. Plus, potatoes are BOMB.

I don't think anyone is against posting opinions on here. I'm partially to blame for this too but, I think what people want to avoid here are comments which attack others perspectives. Even if it's warranted or what have you, this just isn't the place for it.

Near 24/7 sunshine? Mild weather? Beaches? Alternatives to my anxiety that don't include crippling physical addiction? Blech. Count me out.

I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have Xanax to calm my nerves every May (or December, apparently, thanks to 2016) when there's a tornado every five minutes. And I simply can't imagine life without 110 degree Augusts.

    ;)

Why are you directing this at me? I think you have things backwards. @Steerpike is still posting the same personal attack crap. Now he's trying to hide it by spreading his insults around:

Our days are blistering and our nights are chilling. You consider bringing your coat out when the sun burns your skin and you don't know if shorts are okay to wear in this heat considering after the sun goes down, how cold you'll be. The only thing to do around here is find a random group of people and go into the desert, start a big fire, and hope the cops don't show up. I bet there are some other places in this country that might be a little less lame.

Because opinions are naturally conflicting. Just because you don't agree with someone's post on here, doesn't mean you can start posting a bunch of information to prove how wrong they are. Well if we were in the debate room it would be different.

Frankly, I don't think saying "everyone's corrupt" is useful. In practice it means we don't bother to hold politicians accountable, and just go with the ones whose perceived corruption is friendliest to our own interests. In fact, that's what I overheard out of an old army vet the other day at the store where I work. "They're all corrupt," he says, so he was voting for Trump because The Donald wasn't going to put up with any blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, we're all corrupt from the divine perspective. Just like we're all killers from the same point of view. But in everyday life, hey, let's make a distinction between the guy who takes a couple of extra ketchup packets at the McDonald's vs. the one who sells out his country for money, power, and fame.

But maybe we're all so corrupt it's "like master, like man." And it doesn't matter any more.

    And on that note . . .

Be fair. He said that before anyone asked you guys to keep it to yourselves until the debate room was back up.

    Regardless, enough. Sheesh.

I want to go to NM and camp out in the desert so badly. I love nothingness and wide-open spaces. I would particularly like to visit White Sands.

Are you serious? How dare I have another opinion and back it up with evidence?

TMW you haven't had meat in 10 days and someone's grilling hotdogs (which you don't even usually like, ironically) outside.

I live half an hour from White Sands. It's pretty cool. They have events on nights with full moons, and you can see the moon's light reflect a blueish white, making the ground look like it's almost glowing. It is quite the spectacle. I'm not much of a camper. Personally the traversing the desert is much more fun than camping in it. Those inclines can get really steep and it feels like your in a roller coaster as you make your way to that precarious cave in the distance.

Hey, I have too hold back too, it's not just you.

I've literally not said anything political in this thread since like, page 8. And I think the gist of it was saying that I wanted to name my cat Hillary Caton.

    So. Yeah.

Girl! You and me both! I used to live in Illinois and from March to September, I was constantly watching the sky for danger. When I moved to Virginia, my husband picked on me relentlessly for it. There are hardly ever tornadoes in Virginia, so my habit of freaking out about storms seemed ridiculous to him. lol I'm better about it now but it's a hard habit to break. But now that we're talking about moving back someday, maybe it's a habit I should keep... :p

Last time I was in Maryland, it was a week where it was particularly warm, and they were having thunderstorms. Everyone was LOSING their minds over the thunder and the fact that the highs were reaching 84 degrees. They were warning people to drink plenty of water and stay inside. Haha. I was like, "you guys have to be kidding me ..."

Yeah we get severe thunderstorm warnings for a barely gray sky... And winter storm warnings for three inches of snow. lol It's slightly ridiculous. People in VA couldn't survive STL.

I think that is the greatest thing about living in a rocky mountain desert. No super extreme, destructive weather to worry about. This place used to get flash floods a long time ago, but ever since technology has made better draining systems, that has never happened. Although if we ever got more than a few inches of snow for more than one day a year we would probably self-destruct.

    lol

I didn't really have any grand political statement in mind if it seemed that way. I just like the lyrics......

When you're brought into this world
They say you're born in sin
Well at least they gave me something
I didn't have to steal or have to win

    In Blaze of Glory

I just think their cool and used the political discussion to bring it up but not for any actual reason or motive. I'm somewhat superfluous (as in unnecessary) in most discussions on this site or well a better term would be useless. :p

I don't actually think everyone is corrupt :)
