I'm west of Portland. The nearest town is Forest Grove (the nearest large one is Hillsboro).

Okay, I'm going my add my voice to the "no political discussion" thing. Just to be sure. It's really better to keep that to a separate thread because this is more of a fun casual thing here.
Also, I'm pretty sure Newtown is objectively the best place to live. Pretty sure. :D:rolleyes:

I know we're not talking about politics, but I need help digesting the following contradiction.

How come, when it comes to accusations of an establishment, and a rigged system, seen in the form of poor trade deals, unnecessary wars, bank bail outs, media black outs, and DNC shenanigans, Hillary supporters will often say, that they are not black and white issues, that these things are complicated. Yet, when it comes to Trump, in less than a year's time, based on a few inappropriate statements made on television and a few violent incidents at his rallies, often incited by Trump protesters (let's remember, even before Trump, we had the Baltimore riots this summer), those same Hillary supporters are absolutely certain that Trump is the next Hitler.

Am I wrong in seeing a double standard there?

Sort of. He's Hitler-esque, but I'm not sure he's at the same level as Hitler. He'd probably not go quite as far. I think.
Both things are complicated! Just to mess with you! It's a complex world we live in, where even simple things are made more complicated by other things like perspective and doubt.

OK, so I'm sort of wrong in seeing a double standard, or both issues are complicated, and thus, there is a double standard?

Because it is about politics and saying what you think will be most beneficial. Reality, honesty, consistency, and the like have no bearing whatsoever, so of course you'll see double standards and contradictions.

They have bearing, Just not everyone cares enough to value them when you can be shady and get advantages.

There's a semi double standard. Trump isn't really Hitler, but he has notable, worrying resemblances. It's more they are being a bit biased than it is a full double standard. But they should definitely be more reserved about Trump. You're completely right there.

Yes, you have everything wrong. Try a dose of reality sometime, you might find it refreshing.

I have yet to initiate any of this. But I'm not going to ignore attacks that other people dish out.

I can save you the trouble of subjecting yourself to the back and forth. I'll send you a PM and let you know who's right and who's not.

A thread about knowing what happened to the lounge and debate room actually replacing the lounge and the debate room...

It has a certain metaphysical quality, where contemplation and discussion of the idea of the thing brings that thing into existence.

If I could make that work with a winning lottery ticket I would be onto something.

Grow up. You lost, tough titties. Clinton's the nominee, go lick your wounds in PM discussions. Keep it out of the public area of the forum.

Is someone insulting me? I simply asked a question. I want that to go on record.

I'm not certain anyone would insult you, or who it might be if it happened, but we can probably uncover it through the mystical divinatory arts of hangman

    hangman.jpg

I'm not giving you any free letters, because that upsets the energy flow that allows the hangman spaces to communicate with the ether and pull information from all points in space and time.

Your contributing to the politics stuff. And you like the other two are not being polite, though not dramatically so.
Gingercoffee made an acidic comment about you not being in reality. It was quite pointed sarcasm.

I don't care. Save it. JUST STOP. There is a reason the debate room is separate from everything else, and is the place most delegated to. It's disruptive and consuming and it annoys any people having less-confrontational conversations who don't want to be involved. Do you guys want me to starting tagging mods? I could even PM one.
