Oh yeah! The first thing I read of Lovecraft was the short story Dagon, which since then I think I've read 20+ times (I think I can recite a great extent of it by memory) as well as a great number of others. He's like a drug, sometimes you go back to him just to get your fix. There is just something so addictive about his style.

I've read The Hobbit at least eight times. To a lesser degree I've also reread the Harry Potter series, the first four novels in the Sword of Truth series, the Dragonlance series, some of the Dragonriders of Pern series, Robert Hobbs Assassin trilogy, Piercing the Darkness by Peretti, Twilight... I think that's all, though I do plan on reading Catch-22 again.

I used to reread books I liked all the time. I read all that early Heinlein stuff more often than I can count. I read Atlas Shrugged about ten times when I was a teenager.

Nowadays I reread if I think a book is particularly well written, and I read to examine the writer's craft. It can be helpful in my own writing to see how others have handled certain problems. I've reread some Hemingway and Kipling recently, and when I'm finished the John Hawkes novel I'm going through now, I'll reread some Joseph Conrad.

Yeah, it's not one of my preferred books, but when I was in the ER it was the only book they had that wasn't for children so I ended up reading it a couple times from sheer boredom.

The only books I've read twice are My Side of the Mountain and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I can't usually bring myself to reread a book when I've got a stack of unread ones sitting on my nightstand. I'm always too eager to read those books first...and it's a never ending pile.

Yeah, my side of the mountain was fantastic...

I've read a bunch of books twice. I rarely get new books, so I have to make do with rereading what I've got. I've read the first ranger's apprentice book several times, and I've read harry potter 6 and 7 twice each. I read the book Dragon Rider twice, and Brisingr. One of my favorite books of all time, though I havnt read it twice, is probably the first Alex Rider book.

I have friends who really like it a lot, so Goodkind must have done something right. That was the first book of his I read and I've never picked up another one. Maybe I was just in the wrong frame of mind when I read it - who knows.

    Heh. I've a confession....

I've read twilight several times. :p

Some of my Buffy novels, and Harry Potter. Ooh, and The Saga of Billy the Kid. It's probably mostly fiction, but I like his writing style. It's very descriptive. :)

    multiple reads

hi I have read 'Lord of the Rings' at least 10 times, the first as a good read second and subsequent, followed closely one of the 9 walkers. I read 'The Bible' cover to cover in my teens, now I go to a study group and read with others, always interesting.

Which Buffy novels are any good?

I liked the show, and even the graphic novel was cool, but I bought one of the novels and didn't like it at all. Any recommendation?

I liked The Lost Slayer series.

Um, Oz: Into the Wild is good. Heh. Course, it has nothing to do with the scoobies. It's more like, what happens when he leaves the show. That's where it picks up.

I liked the Gate Keeper Series, too and Spike and Dru: Pretty Maids All in a Row

I LOVE spike and dru. Dru, has got to be my favorite one on the show. She's so ate up, it's great. ^-^

    Which one did you get?

I think the only books I've ever read completely through more than once, are:

    Pet Sematary by Stephen King
Read 2,5 times - at the third I couldn't take it anymore. I LOVE that book's psychological themes and points but it's story's just too disturbing.

    Kazan by James Oliver Curwood
I read this twice when I was just a kid. I've always been into wolves and dogs and wilderness... So this was total entertainment and beautifuly told story.

The Lord of the Rings I started to read again but got only half way through or so. But that was mostly because other fandoms came into my life and I can spread only so much attention to each of them at once. :D

And I will be reading the Harry Potter series all over again some day. They're totally worth reading numerous times.

Thanks, I'll look for those. I can't remember which one I got - have to dig it out of a box somewhere to see. An early one, I think. Take place sometime during season 1.

I think the only novels I've read more than once have been The Hobbit and A Christmas Carol.

That's not to say I wouldn't mind reading others more than once, but I just haven't had the time! There's always something new out there to read/play/watch/etc and I like to experience as much as I can.

I only go back if I really want to remember something or figure something out, or if I just really enjoy it, but I prefer new experiences. Books take a lot more time to finish than Movies or Video Games, so I tend to read them once these days.

Darn near everything in my library!

Though, in terms of consistantly reading something over again, it'd be Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I make a habit of reading those two stories at least once a month.

The Shopaholic series, my guilty pleasure. They make me feel happy.
I've read Dracula three times (though a few years apart each time).
I'm about to reread American Psycho, because it bothers me that I can hardly remember anything from it.
I read my favorite scenes over and over again in The Vampire Chronicles, by Anne Rice, but I've only read the entire books once.

Read loads of books twice and some more than that. Books are expensive.

    One Day - David Nicholls
The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon
    Fever Pitch - Nick Hornby
Kane & Abel - Geoffery Archer
    The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien
    Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell
The DaVinci Code - Dan Brown
Pride & Prejudice - Jane Austen (not my decision we studied it in school)
The Harry Potter Series - J.K. Rowling
Wizard's First Rule - Terry Goodkind

    And many many many more.

Maybe it's just me but I never read any book twice. I believe life is too short to do reruns why read a book you've already read or watch a film you've already seen when there are so many books and films out their. If you tried you'd never get through all of them. On saying that the exception for me is both The Jolson Story and Jolson Sings Again I've seen each of these films a 5 or 6 times, which is nothing when the record for watching these films is in the hundreds if not thousands.
