Goal: Finish the written version of my current project. Punishment: I think if we don't achieve our goals, us failures should donate to a charity.
Goals: 1. Have all natural 80's or higher in grades. 2. Finish my book. 3. Lose 30 pounds by summer Punishment: 1. I have to delete all of my social media accounts if I fail.
Goal : Remain authentic and true to real human interactions and keep believing that no human being is worth more than another regardless of what we are coherst into thinking for the sake of the economy and such things. Punishment : Get a Facebook account and work hard on believing that I am important and that I actually matter to the wider world. New year resolutions are generally sad attempts at betterment, but yet very cutesy, fun and entertaining to be sure. Thanks for the opportunity to participate. God bless whichever ship of fools you may happen to find yourself on, hell, nobody else will.
Sell my soul to the Devil; complete all work on the novel that Malisky and myself are writing, including two dozen illustrations, a website supporting the book, and an audiobook edition. Retire from my good paying job, struggle mightily with thinking up a sequel to the aforementioned novel, and live the remaining productive years of my life like Truman Capote... except for all the cocaine and cock sucking.
Review a few of my old engineering and math courses from university. I haven't thought much about this stuff for 25 to 30 years, and I've forgotten too much of it. Write some prose I can be proud of. Regain my chops on guitar. I'm waaaaay rusty. Get our new house designed and built.
1.) Sleep more than two hours in a row. I feel like I've been in a lucid dream since this baby was born. 2.) Finally edit my novel, because I feel like I've improved enough and have enough ideas to clean it up. 3.) Take time to enjoy the small moments.
Get myself looking how I want to (clothes and body) Improve my drawing skills Get four stories down, edited and out Be able to speak broken Welsh
I have a jump on goal (resolution) #1: I've lost the 30 pounds. I think about 30 more would do nicely. Goal (resolution) #2: Final edit of my book and get started on queries.
Realistically (since we all naturally aim too high) is to finish editing my 2nd draft and to find a beta reader.. To submit more poetry to lit mags.. To learn more about things. Also, to understand what that ufo over Phoenix in 1997 was without a Facebook turtorial.
I've missed my goal of being at shitty first draft by xmas - but 85k words since august isnt bad, so my new years resolution is to be finished and alpha read by easter 2017 and being submitted to agents/publishers by this time next year. in real life i'm going to either get a better job or go self employed in the next twelve months - my current job (more accurately my current boss) is killing me slowly
To try and live again. Maybe (though if trends have anything to say about it then:Not) find someone as a partner and feel human and happy. No promises though, this shit is way too damned predictable. (.0000000000000000000000000000000000001% there is a light at the end of this tunnel hooray.) Continue respecting my promise to a man that binds me (for better or worse) to this thing called life. (Miss you dear Brother, really pulled me out of the fire.) Maybe finish my sequel that will most likely never get read (busting my ass on this author thing, but hey I can pretend) Find and read some decently written Romance or Erotica (well anything really in the modern times). Well hell just hoping that things will be a sliver better than this year has been. Crashlanding 30 commence. Please put your trays in the upright position. Brace for impact. And as always, thank you flying with "Oh shit We're All Gonna Die" Airlines.
I have nothing particular to post about the new year, except to hail out an expression of all my hopes for a productive one to all those who harbour a healthy and thoughtful grit. Yabo ! Still chewing down on 2016. It was certainly a "busload" on this end of what I consider to be the equation tabulating one's life and goals. Lots happened, many things changed. I think that is how it should be when things inevitably get all balled up at the head office from simply being alive for a long time. Punishment : not knowing what the hell to do next with what I have accumulated over time. Sometimes it feels like I am holding a bunch of crap in my cupped hands, extending them forward with no reasonable place to put it all down or give it to someone to manage so I can feel light once again. I guess that continuing to look for a place to be well is not a form of punishment, is it ?
Get at least one badge under my profile pic. I've had generally positive reviews here with what I've posted, I should be able to pull at least one win if I focus and... ...enter some contests.
How do you get the contributor note under your avatar? I'll be happy with anything but I do admit I need to be more active on here.
"Contributor members are prominent members of our writing community. They come with the "Contributor" user badge. The criteria to be considered a Contributor is registration for 365 days, 500 posts, and 200 post likes. " Not to be confused with contributing member which is the one below active I think https://www.writingforums.org/faq/usergroups.114/ @Wreybies are those still the current tags ? I don't think ive ever seen anyone with a community leader or a community volunteer banner
@big soft moose I've never seen 'community leader' but I think the volunteers are those in charge of competitions.
I though they were 'contest adminsistrator' I don't recall seeing a reviewer tag either ... or how that would differ from the reviewing that we do in the workshop. I'm guessing that the FAQ was written about ten years ago and some of the tags have evolved since then (its got active before senior as well - wheras now its senior- contributing- active) Also I assume that some of this stuff changed when the forum moved to Xen Foro
@peachalulu is the official reviewer I believe. Also I've thought up my punishment if I don't achieve at least two of my goals, I must sell some of my books (I have too many really but I love all of them!)
Make a habit of going to the gym Pass the JLPT N2 Pass the TOCFL B2, or at least B1 Finish at least 12 short stories and 12 poems Be more sociable and meet more people Get a driver's license
