I think it's going on all over the world actually. We're just not hearing about it yet except from people like Homer who work in the industries and see the realities unfolding.
You don't want to know the things I know, haha. It's not like classified-classified, but it sure as shit isn't released to the public. I got a market report today from a multi-billion distributor that reported 63 container ships unable to berth on the west coast due to lack of shipping and dock workers. Potato harvest down 27%. Global bean production down 50%. Tomato and avocado harvest down 27%. Not enough glass plants open to produce glass containers (booze, mostly). No resin left in the market to make plastic for plastic bottles and containers. My restaurant will be okay because we're very high end and can charge an arm and a leg and still be booked out two weeks in advance. But the other restaurants in the company? Not so much. This is a roughly $1 million revenue shortfall problem that I have to make for somehow.
