According to Merriam Webster, Skookum also means: evil spirit OR marked by strength of power. ...So it's strong, evil, eccentric jizz?! Blimey!
From Wikipedia: Dendrophilia (or less often arborphilia or dendrophily) literally means "love of trees". The term may sometimes refer to a paraphilia in which people are sexually attracted to or sexually aroused by trees. This may involve sexual contact or veneration as phallic symbols or both.
I've kissed and hugged a tree before, but they don't make me sexually aroused in the slightest. Trees may be beautiful, but not sexy. I think there'd be something pretty broken in your head if you can get off to the thought of a tree. Also, anything written in Wikipedia should be taken with a gigantic grain of salt. Separately, sex and love are not mutually exclusive.
That's one problem with new words—sometimes there are weird connotations you might not be aware of. I had heard of those people who are more than tree-huggers, and thought you should be aware before you go throwing the term around casually. Either that or Cave Troll might have something to worry about...
Why is this thread so active? Do you lot go out looking for new words? I learn a new word about once every seven years.
"Tony Rocky Horror. You know him." "Fell out of a window." "Mmm, mm. Well, that is one way to say it. Another way to say it would be he was defenestrated. Another way would be he was defenestrated by Marsellus. And yet even another way is to say he was defenestrated by Marsellus because of you." Doesn't quite carry the same weight, does it?
