Me, I'm learning to play the guitar. I have an Epiphone Les Paul Special II I got back in March. Set up a little corner studio and practice an hour a day.
I'm teaching myself graphic design. It's quite a lot of fun, unfortunately I just don't have time for much else beyond writing and work. Would love to someday learn an instrument like you, but I think I'd want to learn piano. In a perfect world I'd also have the time to learn a second language, but I suppose that's not a creative pursuit lol.
I have always been involved in some creative outlet. For many years I painted and sculpted. Now I mostly write and build/scratchbuild models and terrain/dioramas, and like to develop physical games (board, card, etc). I like to code a little, and consider that creative, and I like to invent, which I also consider creative. I approach each endeavor as a creative thing. Generally I find that I approach things from different angles than others, which gives others a different view on situations. I currently work at an R&D company that is developing a new future for production manufacturing, and since starting I have had an influence on the way hard-line engineers, both software and hardware, approach design. As a side note: my roomie does aquarium maintenance and gets a lot of jobs because she is fantastic at aquarium layout.
I've been drawing since I was little, and before I started writing. I don't plan on going anywhere with it, though. I just like to draw. Since I took a painting class in high school, I've started painting as well. I typically draw people. Not too good at landscapes or things like that. Also, since I started writing, I've been drawing my characters, which has made me better at drawing then what I was before. (Even painted them too)
I do drawings, paintings, and digital illustrations and graphics. I've dabbled in sculpture, miniature painting, comics, music, dance, and game design. I almost never take the time to do any of that anymore, sadly. I do want to learn the piano some day.
Unfortunately, outside of writing, I'm artistically challenged. I tried my hand at drawing for a while, but I'm just dreadful.
I come from a creative family.... my dad's family are almost all musicians and painters. My mom's family are writers. So, growing up i've played violin, clarinet, and bass clarinet. I can play a few chords on piano. My minor in college was visual art. I haven't had much time now since graduating to really do anything creative (besides writing). I really want to get back into painting. I loved working with oil paints and I think I want to experiment with water colors. Its just finding the time. I gave all of my oil paints and canvas boards to my sister when I moved out, too.... so there's that.....
I draw part time, so that way, I can use it for reference when thinking of how to describe a character in text. For a while anyway, I was working on a game for the RPG Maker VX Ace, before the laptop decided to break on me. And now I'm working on a game for my 2DS RPG Maker Fes, and it pales in comparison to the VX Ace.
Halloween costume design and construction, custom RC car design and build. Did my first 3D printed chassis about three years ago. Nice, but pricey.
I recorded myself playing FreeSpace 2 last week, but it sucked too much to post on YouTube, or anywhere else. Still, I've been thinking about getting into some type of online activity like that. Just needs some large doses of polish to get my commentary into working order first.
I am a MASSIVE Dungeons and Dragons nerd. I wonder if we could get an online D&D group going. I know a couple other people here play.
@honey hatter: where you at? I know @Dragon Turtle plays too, but I can’t remember what edition. I think 5th, at least. ETA: made a new thread.
My parents are both musicians, but it seems I didn't inherit that gene. Raw deal IMO. I've dabbled in playing guitar, and I took voice lessons for a while, but I didn't have the patience to stick with them. Maybe if I weren't a writer. I like doing calligraphy, but hardly ever get around to it for the stupid reason that I have nothing special to calligraph.
Drawing and doodling - illustrating my dreams. I doodle all the time - all over the place. Well, not quite all over the place. I don't know if random journaling can be considered creative. Can it? Or watching a tv show through and doing a 'top 100 moments'. And using internet images to create collages and posters. I like to think that my brother and sister got my mum's brains. Ick! Not literally. I mean, they're academics like her. My dad; practical skills. Me, I'm creative. Or at least I like to think of myself as creative.
@CoyoteKing im in Grand Junction Colorado, having a great time. Jake and I hiked a trail in Monument Colorado National Park. It was amazing. No rattlesnakes thank goodness. There were two brown rabbits with white tails and we saw many geckos come out late in the day.
find any rabbit holes? (not gonna ask an-y more questions) "a very merry un-birthday to me? To you...!" have a Mad time! more pictures!
More pictures incoming also in the blog post I'm going to make for the trip. And my clubhouse. Watch out the third rail is live.
I do some drawing. I've played guitar a little. I like to play around designing other entertainment/art projects like game ideas too.
