Got another one knocked out. I'm finally nearing the end of the drafts. It feels like the story is actually coming together, even if the actual bad guy is one monologue away from saying, "Did I mention that I'm evil?"

Only 500 words on my contest entry. I want to carry on writing, but if I don't go to bed soonish, I'll end up not going to bed at all.

More chapters done. Now for the annoying part. The part where the big bad of the series finally manifests. It's annoying because, while I do feel as though I set it up throughout the series i.e., mentioning the darkness that was sealed away, body language cues, not so subtle moments of, "hey, you know, I've always wondered about foreshadowing foreshadowing foreshadowing. Isn't that weird?" "huh, you know, you're right, that is foreshadowing foreshadowing foreshadowing." And a literal play. But it doesn't feel like enough. Suppose it never does, though.

Might want to consider bringing in a journal. Those are always helpful. But now I must decide... do I troll my audience and write in Shakesperian English? The story's meant to be something that everyone can read, even kids, and I know how hard old English is to read. But at the same time, I can get some real mileage out of this detail. Like, it's difficult to read, but if you really analyze it you can understand what's being said. Decisions, decisions.

I received word that a dark comedic short story I wrote, called Bad Hair Day, is tentatively planned to be included in an anthology the local writing collective is putting together as a fundraiser for a local community organization. The release date is the end of January.

I started writing a new story. I only have a general outline of it, with some scenes in mind and an idea as to how it ends, but with nothing plotted in great detail, so I just decided to start writing and let the details come to me as I wrote.

I tend to do this - I plot scenes but pants details. I find it works quite well.

I got a really good idea for a story, too. I'm only about 250 words into it, but I'm going to try to spend a few hours on it tomorrow.

Must be something in the air. I've gone good ways into a new story. Not sure it's core idea is a good one, not sure it's not just a lead up to a punchline that's either too subtle and likely to be missed or as subtle as chasing a fly with a sledgehammer. Still, I'll finish it and probably throw it out around here for ye to decide.
