Most likely they'd angst over it. If they had the ability, they'd find another way that would save the child AND the thousands of other people (whether they believe it to be the right thing or just so they can flip the birdie at the cosmos as a whole doesn't matter). Others would understand that it had to be done and let it be so. What would your MC do if he/she found out that he/she was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer that would slowly kill them painfully?

Well, if someone hit on Jacob while he was with Izzy, Izzy would probably turn her head and expect him to run off with the other person. After all, that's the kind of bull s<profanity> that she's had to deal with her entire life. Jacob, on the other hand, doesn't have to worry about anyone hitting on Izzy, simply because everyone of her age thinks that she is some kind of weird psychotic slut and they keep their distance from her. Minty would probably have a weird reaction when she would hear that a war had started in her apparently peaceful country. She would first think it was a cruel joke of some kind and she would not understand why all people suddenly became so frightened and shivering. She would then be dragged cluelessly by her aunt and her uncle into an underground tunnell where they would hide from magic attacks (performed by skilled sorcerers) and perheps some fire breathing dragons, together with the whole neighborhood. When Minty finally realized what was really going on by seeing people die and get hurt, she would fight with all her heart to protect others, especially her friends and small, innocent children. She would use the little magic she knew for her age (13). The people would probably not understand what kind of war it is, since the country has not been at war in at least 500 years and they have no enemy countries. It would probably be a civil war started by a group of interlopers of some kind who wanted to take over the whole country/city/province. Adalyn - she'd freak out. It's way over her head. She woudn't want that responsibility. She's a 12-year-old kid lol...she starts out very timid and insecure in the beginning of the novel, thanks to her overbearing and critical mother, but gains confidence and independence as she's thrust into scary situations over the course of the book and (with the help of friends) is able to deal with them. However, ruling over other people isn't something she'd be interested in. The bad guys are power-lords. She'd rather have an anarchy society, I think. Since Hogwarts and Harry Potter do not exist in her magical country, she would probably be shocked to hear about Hogwarts for the first time. Who knew they had such a famous school for sorcerers in Britain? When she would hear that she could spend a whole day at Hogwarts together with Harry, Ron and Hermione, she would probably be excited AND nervous. After all, the magic people learn at Hogwarts is a different type than the magic they learn in her country. She would probably get along the best with Ron, since Ron is the closest to her personality type: humorous, not very disciplined and feeling a bit left out by the family. She might get along with Harry because she and Harry are both very heroic individuals, but she might think Harry is very vain for being "the boy who lived". Hermione would probably bore her to death or freak her out, because she might remind Minty of her strict, studious family. I don't think they would get along too well, not in one day. Minty would probably tell the trio how much better and more advanced and civilized her culture/country/magical culture was and she would probably find the Hogwarts students too patriotic without any having any reasons for patriotism. What luxury to be away from a strict, nagging family! She would probably think that she would eventually find her family and she would spend some time looking at clothes and just enjoying the big city life, with or without money. After two or three hours, she would start worrying because she did not find her family members. She is only 13! She can not survive in a big city on her own! What would she do? She would probably sleep/wait somewhere "safe", like inside a train station or in an underground tunnel. But she would soon realize how crappy it is to be lost and how left out and lonely she is feeling in this big bad world. Since ghosts do exist in her world, a "haunted house" wouldn't be seen as something weird or different, but they are rare. If the ghosts were "normal acting", she would probably go into the house alone with no problem, but if the ghosts were aggressive, scary and unwelcoming, she would only go in there with her friends! The "apocalypse" was caused by a group of evil sorcerers, turning the whole world into a dark, burning realm filled with lava and flat, dry lands. I don't know if this can be called an apocalypse, since the world is not going under. It is still physically there, but it is radically changed by strong, dark magic, and all people who do not belong to the dark, evil elite have to become slaves. If Minty knew anything about it, she would probably warn everybody she came across, even organizing a resistance group with her three best friends and some few others. But most people would not believe her when she would tell them that there was going to come an apocalypse. They would probably think she was crazy or joking. What would your MC do if he/she could get his/her will for one whole day?
Ah, the answer for this is very simple: Absolutely anything. She normally has to do everything that an adult should do: wash dishes, do laundry, cook dinner, clean house, do yard work, etc. because her father is virtually useless. So if she could have her will, she would probably go out and live life as best she could, without fear of the repercussions. What would your MC do if they were drafted for a war?
Josh would gladly accept his duty and go to war. Angel would probably leave the country and try to avoid it. Chris has already fought in a war so he would have no problem going back. What would your MC do if they were forced to watch their loved ones being tortured?
Hmm... well, Izzy doesn't really have any loved ones. Her mother is dead, and she presumably hates her father with the intensity of a million nuclear explosions, so... yeah. I guess if she had to watch her boyfriend be tortured she would do whatever she could to block the image out of her head. (E.G. hum to herself, shut her eyes tightly, and try to think of anything else.) The same applies to Jacob. Well, at least the part about blocking the image out of his head anyway. Although, that would only be if there was nothing he could do to stop it. If he had a chance to stop it, there would probably be blood shed . He's not normally the violent type, but if he sees someone harming Izzy, either physically or emotionally, he will do anything short of murder to stop it. Sorry, I have a habit of using a lot of words when I explain something in writing. Your MC is presented with a box that has a button on it. If they press the button within twenty four hours, they are awarded one million dollars, but somebody will die (they probably won't even know the person.) Would your MC press the button or not?
