Your MC wants to be in a different role. Explain in detail. Franz, "I'm very content with my role, actually. I'd be a much less effective agent of change, were I in a significantly different position. If anything, I wish the culture of the small sliver of people that hold the reins to the destiny of humanity weren't so... moribund. Complacently so. If that were so - if I could trust my pampered compatriots not to sprint as fast as possible toward grossly exceeding our species' carrying capacity, and an inevitable collapse of civilization on par with that of the 21st century - I doubt my role would be remotely necessary. But that isn't the case, and it is necessary, so I can only be content with it." Armada, "Autarch of the enclave. I've spilled so much blood and lost so many good people here that sometimes I can't think of a single damn reason to stay, other than that very same fact: I've given too much to this pathetic oasis of desperation in an otherwise dead and desolate urban wasteland, that it would be too much to walk away from. Call it some kind of perverse buyer's remorse if you will, I don't care. Franz has done much for us - crushed the brutal factional stalemate that saw the best and bravest slaughtered, gentrified our ruinous settlement and infrastructure which was barely discernible from the common wastes at the time and imposed some sense of order and stability upon our people, even if through forceful authoritarianism. But still, as much as I respect what he has done from high atop his ivory tower, it is still painfully obvious that he is fundamentally incapable of relating to a life of being knee-deep in sweat, dirt and blood, regardless of what relative improvement has been made under his steely boot. We should fully utilize the benefits and advantages he has created here - socially, economically, politically and the like - but only the blithest enclavist sheep would expect to remain securely under the aegis of an aristocrat such as Franz indefinitely. No, it is ultimately up to ourselves to seize our own future and wield it to our greatest benefit. One of us must rise to lead us out from under the influence of an alien culture that may as well be a world away, even if it requires bloodshed and painstakingly forging a veritable autarky from which our oasis can be sustained without the subsidy of Franz's estate. However, patience is the greatest form of prudence for me at this time. For now, I will be a good attack dog, and bide my time. Something like that." Gareth, "Head of the psychological weapons R&D department, rather than a division manager and field commander. My skills are better utilized on large-scale projects, instead of the nuts and bolts stuff. That, and crap rolls downhill far too often for my taste. Alas, my superiors disagree, so here I am." Dr. Cordrey, "It gets pretty damn frustrating sometimes, but for the most part I enjoy my job. The project I'm currently working on is very ambitious and rather fascinating, and being in competition with the other research divisions keeps my work fast-paced and me on my toes. Constantly working with the scum of my species gets discouraging, but actually turning them into something of relative utility is quite fulfilling. Even if they end up as monsters or cannon-fodder by any other name. I may aspire for Gareth's position someday - mostly for the benefits and wage increase - but I rather like being involved with the actual experiments, instead of just managing them. It seems like it stresses him out pretty badly anyhow. I'll pass for now." What's MC's dream-job? What's the worst job they've ever had?
What's MC's dream-job? What's the worst job they've ever had? Heridon Copper: Oh God, the worst job I ever had was when I had to work as one of the assistant janitors at my high school. Me: Um, dude? You were a football player. Heridon Copper: I know, but let's just say that one drunken prank involving spray paint and a wall inside the school landed me in detention for two weeks and a job cleaning up other people's crap for three weeks. Me: Wow. I never thought I'd know this from you... Heridon Copper: Well, now you do. Your MC, through some weird time-warp, meets their future son/daughter and an older version of one of his/her companions. What does he/she do? Describe in detail.
Izzy doesn't really have any 'companions' per se, so she wouldn't meet any of them. If she met one of her future children, she'd probably break down and thank god that she made it through life long enough to have children in the first place. lol Jacob used to have an acquaintance named Steven, a childhood friend. The last time he saw Steven was when they were seventeen and Jacob was moving to a new city (how my novel starts). So if he saw Steven again, he'd want to know how his life had been, what he'd been doing, and if he'd ever gotten married, among other various topics. Izzy would likely have to pull Jacob out of the conversation eventually, because these two can, and do, talk for hours non-stop. As for meeting a future child, well... his reaction would be similar to Izzy's, though not to such extremes. What would your MC do if they were in a building and it began to collapse around them? By the way, six days without posting? I'm beginning to think that this thread may have run its course...
Now let's not get negative. 186 pages is pretty good for something this involving. Tanner would immediately look for exits higher up, where he would be able to reach. He would think that it would be better to be pelted by stones that only just began to fall than to be crushed by one that had enough time to pick up speed before it hit him. He'd try and stay on larger stones, bricks, etc., hoping and trusting that they would hold his weight. Of course, if there was a door or exit RIGHT NEXT TO HIM, he'd take it. He's a sensible person, and he'd be able to keep his cool and get out alive, if not unscathed. Your MC is in the least ideal situation for them. What is it, and how do they cope with it?
Amos: Tied up, being questioned by the lead suspect. Especially after I had previously failed in getting him captured. How am I coping? Trying hard to think of a solution and failing. Good God... Heridon: Okay, I'm in a diner where some nutcase gunman just entered and shot and wounded a chef. Said gunman is holding me and 17 other people hostage and seems dangerously genre-savvy. Also, my friends aren't here and assume that I'm just peachy. I can't call them because he's confiscated our phones. Essentially, we're all screwed. How am I coping? I'm just trying to not piss him off... Helen Chert: In a battle. Yeah, go figure... Mike Wolfletter: Trying to survive a train derailing. HOLD ON!!! Omar: Lost. No map. No compass. My companion is missing. Yeah, not a good day... How would your MC deal with a hurricane/tsunami/tornado/earthquake/etc?
Angel would become hysterical and freeze up, unsure of what to do. He would probably get himself killed. Josh would stay calm try and help his friends to safety. Christian would start giving orders to get himself and his friends to safety. What would your MC do if they found themselves in a fight with someone much bigger than them?
Sawyer would lose. Doesn't matter who they were, why they were fighting, or whether it was a verbal or physical fight. He's pretty small for his age, so there's no way he'd last more than five seconds in a physical confrontation, and in an argument, he'd cave in if the other person looked like they might get violent. Now that I think about it, Sawyer's a pretty crappy MC... Your MC has become totally invisible, and decides to spy on someone. Who is it, and why did your MC choose this person? What are they doing?
Angel would probably not spy on anyone but he would use his invisibility to steal money and other expensive things. Josh would choose to spy on Julian because he finds him fascinating. Chris wouldn't spy on anyone either because he'd be freaking out over the fact that he was invisible. Once he got over the shock of it though, he'd probably find his ex wife and torment her. What would your mc do if they found out they had a child that they never knew about?
If Alex was to have a child but never know about it, he'd probably meet the child discreetly and not introduce himself as the Dad. He'd probably tease the kid in some fashion; picking on him, calling him names, and being generally irritating. That's just how Alex chooses to start all his relationships, to the annoyance of his loved ones. He would gauge if his child was happy, see if there was any room in the kid's life for him. If there wasn't, Alex would probably smile and leave it at that. He was a foster kid himself. His parents were in debt, ostracized by their families, with no one to turn to. They could not afford to have a child. So they handed him off to the care of an old acquaintance. He was four. They left him at the doorstep and never looked back. He respects their decision and knew it was for the best. But as far as he was concerned, his real father was the man who called himself the General. The man who raised him from the tender age of four to his early adult life. The man who was actually there for him. That is the standard by which he deems worthy of the title 'parent'. And if he did not know the child, if he was not there for the child, and if the child was perfectly happy without him in the picture. He's fine keeping things as is. He has no reason to call himself a dad if he has never been a dad to his child. Alternatively of course, if his child is suffering. Then come hell or high water, he will rescue his child. And whoever caused his child pain better pray to whatever deity yet to abandon him, because no one, absolutely no one, hurts the Alex's loved ones. He'd be all dramatic about it too. Maybe he'd come knocking on his child's current abode and say something incredibly stupid. Like, "Yo, I came here to pick up my son? Sorry, I was so late." If your character found a blank check on the ground, what would your character do?
If your character found a blank check on the ground, what would your character do? Mike Wolfletter: <to my other characters> Shut up, everybody. I'm gonna tell you exactly what to do: Cash it in as your own. Easy! What would your character do if he/she had failed in his/her mission?
Nothing like starting the day on a sad note... lol What would your character do if he/she had failed in his/her mission? Well, if Jacob had failed his mission, Izzy wouldn't be living anymore, and if that happened, he'd probably kill himself. That's really all there is to it. What would your character do if they woke up in the morning and found a hot breakfast sitting on their table. Assume, for this question, that the character lives alone.
Raiden would refuse to eat it and go into detective mode to see who the hell broke into her house. Fin would think of it as an act of kindness from a stranger and devour it, and then wonder about it later. Jack would walk past it without noticing it until he actually used the table. By that time it would be cold and he'd throw it out but not think much of it. If your MC was backpacking alone somewhere, what would he/she bring?
If your MC was backpacking alone somewhere, what would he/she bring? Leon, "I've done essentially that for... too much of my life. What would I bring? A gun, a knife, flint and tar, a cup and plate, twine, salt and some good hard-bread, a roll of clothe, or at least most of what I usually carried. Better to have it and not need it than otherwise." Armada, "That would almost invariably imply that I'm in the field, on a mission. In which case I'd bring my usual gear, and maybe a little wine and some good, extra food if I could." Franz, "As a matter of leisure? I don't often indulge like that, but if I did I'd probably make it something like a picnic if the weather was nice, preferably with good company. So, whatever conveniences and confections that would entail." Gareth, "Oh wow. I barely have the time to check in with my kids, let alone go meandering on a whim. That would be nice though. Bring? Well, my sense of direction's never been impressive, so a GPS probably, and maybe a camera. It's been years since I've worked on my portfolio." MC is accosted in the street by a strange man. He seems disheveled and frantic, but otherwise harmless. With an air of desperation in his voice, he asks MC to hold onto a shoe-box sized package for no more than 10 minutes with he goes up into the adjacent apartment complex. Does MC agree? If so, what do they do after 15 minutes have passed? 20? 30?
Sawyer would probably just stand there, awkward and confused, until someone came along to take the box. All the while he'd wonder what was in the box, why he was holding it, and what was going on - his theories would get more and more ridiculous with each passing minute. Benji would agree, wait fifteen minutes, then open the box. After all, the man never told him not to. For whatever reason, your MC has begun waiting tables at a cafe. What would they do if their arch enemy came in, and they had to wait on them?
If Julian came in while Josh was working Josh would be polite with him but he would tell his boss that he was not going to serve him. Angel would get violent and make a scene of confronting the guy. He'd definitely get fired. Christian would be civil and serve him but he would put something in the food. What would your mc do if they had to do something really horrible or else one of their loved ones would be killed?
Pretty much all of my MC's would do it, depending on how horrible it is. It's kind of a running motif in my story. Although in the same way, many of them are willing to sacrifice their loved ones if it served a sufficiently important purpose. What would MC do if they heard voices in their head? Very polite, cordial voices, but voices none the less.
"Welp, that's it then," Ezekiel decrees. "I've gone completely banannas." He stands and begins tightening his tie above his ears. "I always knew this day would come, though honestly I expected it to have been here quite some time ago." He removes his shoes and pulls his socks over his hands. Victoria stares at him. "What are you doing?" "I think I'll go climb a tree and pretend to be an eagle for a few days," he says thoughtfully, "Then I'll go build a bridge across the Thames made out of biscuits." "Right," Victoria replies uncertainly. He sprints away yodling, leaving only his shoes behind. your MC is plunked into the peculiar world of a japanese rpg. What bizzare and/or rediculously oversized weapon do they use? (Sorra fights with a key so get creative here, people.) OR if your character is already in a fantasy setting, they are plunked infront of a computer. Describe the scene that follows.
"Japanese RPG" as in like a Square Enix game? Hoo boy... Sawyer would probably use twin guns, or some kind of whip, and he would do a lot of graceful prancing around the battlefield - I imagine SE would make him incredibly effeminate, with like long hair and tight pants. Benji would be able to summon like spirit-things, and they'd be all glowy and cool-looking and not even a little gross, so he'd have like swirly dark markings on his skin instead of tumorous egg sacks. He'd also probably wear his hair over one eye, and have lots of straps and zippers on his clothes that serve no real purpose. (This is exactly how they would have turned out if I'd created them when I was in middle school. Seriously.) What would your MC do if their world was suddenly overrun with zombies? How long would they survive?
What would your MC do if their world was suddenly overrun with zombies? How long would they survive? Heridon Copper: Seriously? Another zombie scenario? What, have we ran out of ideas already? Zombie!Sandra, Zombie!Holly, Zombie!Matt, Zombie!Charles, and Zombie!Kamiko: <enters room> Heridon Copper: And now I'm standing on the desk of my basement bedroom with an aluminum baseball bat trying to hold back my zombified friends! Zombie!Amos Copper: <enters room> Heridon Copper: Now my granddad is a zombie! Zombie!Yvette: <enters room> Grrrr!! Heridon Copper: And my zombified fox terrier, too! Unbelieveable! That's it, no way I'm going to make it but I'll sure as hell try. Heridon Copper: <jumps off of table, pushes away his friends as he charges to the stairs. He barely makes it toward the top when he's overrun by the zombies and nommed on.> Your MC is taking a class on a classical civilization of your choice. Does he/she like the class or no? Explain in detail.
No, Sand would not like the class. Her writing skills are quite poor, due to the fact she never went to public school. If there was a certain civilization to due a report on, she would probably research our culture in America today, after all, it is ancient history to her. If your MC witnesses their closest friend shot and killed before their eyes, what would they do?
If your MC witnesses their closest friend shot and killed before their eyes, what would they do? Hell would be known to the culprit. How does your MC forget the woes of their world?
Angel drinks himself into oblivion. Ususually with wine but any type of alcohol will do. Christian goes to the boxing gym or swims laps. Exercise takes his mind off things. Josh is very different, when Josh has a problem he ignores it and act like it's no big deal, like it'll go away on it's own. He lives in his own little world. what would you mc do if they found out they were adopted?
what would you mc do if they found out they were adopted? Amos Copper: Sit down, boy. I need to tell you something. <clears throat>. Heridon, you're really an Englishman. Heridon Copper: Englishman? What? I-WHAT!? Amos Copper: <waves hand> I know, I know, but you are indeed English. Heridon Copper: I'm an American by birth. Born a Texan. Why the hell would you say I'm from England, gramps? Amos Copper: You are English, Heridon. Your mother and father died in a horrible car crash. My son, David Copper, found you and took you in. Heridon Copper: <shakes head> You're a liar, gramps. Sorry to say this, but you're a liar. You think they'd have lied to me? You think they've waited all this time to tell me that I'm not really American, I'm really from England? <stands up> Guess what? I refuse. I'm a Texan and will die a Texan. Nothing can change that. <Starts to walk off, pauses, and turns around> If I'm not Heridon Copper, than who am I? Oliver ****ing Twist? Amos Copper: Your real name is Heridon Dunbrooke. Heridon Copper: Really? Well, sorry to say, but Heridon Dunbrooke doesn't exist. I'm Heridon Copper, American, Texan, and no one can say any different. <walks off and slams door behind him> Your MC is having a blast! Describe in detail! 8D
Adalyn's having a blast would include any of the following... 1) climbing in trees, playing Manhunt, etc with the guy friends in her neighborhood 2) reading fantasy books at high school reading levels 3) drawing weird comics 4) reading other people's weird comics 5) telling scary stories with her eccentric great-aunt 6) hiking, cave-exploring or other related activities If your MC was the sole proprietor of his/her own small business, what kind of store would it be and how would it be set up?
Sand would definitely set up an orphanage, to help kids that went through similar difficulties that she did as a child. The orphanage would be sure to embrace them all as individuals, and make sure that they all felt accepted for everything that made them who they are. What super power fits your MC's personality?
