Richard Lemon: Nothing happens. What kind of "education" does your character possess? Please include formal tuition (if applicable) and whatever they've picked up on the road.
My current major characters: Phil went through high school, then he got a trade and worked in construction. Jane is still in high school. Jonah went through high school and did some kind of creative arts course and is now a motivational speaker on the merits of being artistic in your life. If a man walked into their house, and they knew beyond a doubt that this ordinary man was the devil, what would your main character/s do?
G1: "Oh... You..." G2: "The **** do you want?" G3: Attacks on sight. G4: "What? Do you fire people in person now? That's a pun. This isn't even my house." What ailment is your MC most likely to suffer / already suffering and why?
What ailment is your MC most likely to suffer / already suffering and why? Well, Amos has blindness, if you can call that an ailment. He's been blind from birth. Kelsey Greene, my American Civil War detective has deafness. Again, from birth. But you want ailments, my good sir/ma'am, not mere conditions they've had since birth! And that is what you shall have!! 8D Meet Edwin Timmerton. He is the son of a merchant working in London, England in 1561. Life has been harsh and cruel to this poor boy. Thanks to the pox, he is rendered blind in one eye (the eye has a nasty film over it, giving it a grotesque, vulture-like apperance) and his face is riddled with pox marks. Also, special thanks to a childhood accident involving a cart running over him, his left leg is gimpy, so he walks with a pronounced limp. If that's wasn't enough for him, he also has a slight hunched back, a deformity from birth. It's not obvious unless you really looked at it, but he has a slight hunch. What would your MC do if he/she met an emperor that was a lot like Nero?
G2: *stabs* "Alas, what an artist dies in you." A terribly esoteric question - That is more or less all I know about Nero, other than the fact that while Rome burned he played an instrument that wouldn't be invented for several centuries. There is panic in the city! What's happening and what is your MC doing?
Nero must be a time-traveller! xD (just kidding) Actually, he likely wasn't even in Rome when it burnt. Back to your question... What horribly calamity has befallen my MC's city? In Amos' city, the smallpox epidemic is sweeping in. He's...got the pox and is in bed fighting to survive while solving the murder mystery. Your MC's goal in life is...
At the base of it power Lapis wants political power, not just for himself but also for his people. Portia loves to the power to dictates who lives and who dies. What type of mode of transportation does your MC prefer?
Feet, Rodrick can't ride, hates sky carriages (Wagons lifted into the air by mages) and in a sword and spell fantasy epic I decided that having cars present would be too difficult to rationalise... Does your character have the potential to be sexually abused/assaulted. If yes: How would they cope? Could anyone help them? If no: Why? If the person below me finds the above question too much I'll provide a more G rated one: A puppy shows up on your MC's front door, what would they do?
Does your character have the potential to be sexually abused/assaulted. Well, this concerns Amos' caretaker, Mr. Wilkins. He was sexually abused by his sleezy uncle from childhood to teenaged years. If yes: How would they cope? Could anyone help them? He got to drinking and soon shoved the man off the stairs to his death. No one can help him, because he doesn't want to talk to them. Wilkins' is the type of man who believes that a man's problem should be dealt with alone and personally. Your character thrives for challenges that are seemingly impossible or, if they aren't the daredevil type, do something completely outside the norm that will shock people. What is it and why do they do this? How do his/her family/friends react?
Hmmm....Thats a hard one... My character is very set in her ways. She's tough and stubborn and has a serious case of superhero syndrome. I guess she'd take on another pack (yes, this is another werewolf book) on her own...again. Her family is mostly dead except for one estranged uncle who's on his way there, so i don't think that reaction is all that important. Her best friend would try to talk her out of it (and fail) and her fiance would probably just sigh and follow her into the brawl. If your main character could have any super power (if they don't already have one) what would it be?
Characters with super powers crave the little things. G1: A cigar that never burns away/an endless flask of whiskey G2: Having hair that always looks cool in the wind and doesn't frizz G3: Perfect pitch and talent for any instrument Genre of music your MC would champion and why?
Jonah would be the one to listen to classical. He's methodical, quirky, and dull in comparison to everyone else. It suits him perfectly. Tanner would be the one listening to... pop, I guess. It's too broad of a genre, IMO, but he'd enjoy the light-humored, enjoyable tunes. Conan would be the one to listen to electronica, I think it's called (don't quote me on that), because of the fast-paced, really intense sound. Plus, it would focus him a lot better. Where would your character want to be buried when they die?
A very interesting question, JPGriffin. Glad you asked. Heridon Copper would want to be cremated and have his ashes scattered into the Gulf of Mexico. Why? Because he feels it fitting because he's an ocean boy at heart. In his words: "If I were born 200 years ago, I'd have been a sailor. Likely working as a privateer for the British Crown. No one would have to force me as I would have signed up under my own power." Amos Garnier would want to be buried with the Parrish family. Why? Because he loves them and considers himself a Parrish. Helen Chert would want to be buried in the moon, right next to the footsteps of her legendary ancestor, Neil Armstrong. Why? Because she wants to be close to her ancestor. Mike Wolfletter would want to be buried in a quiet cementary next to a secluded chapel. Why? Because at the end of the day, he just wants to be left alone. To be buried in a secluded, nearly-forgotten chapel would be perfect for him. Omar Bailey would want to be buried in Scotland. Why? Because he loves that place so much, that's why. Your character was born when, where, at what time. What was happening during this time? (A war, famine, festival, etc.)
"I was born in a hospital, in April, with nothing else special going on that day. I was the Something Special that day," Sabby smiled. "Heh, yeah. You? Special? Only in your own little world, Sabby. You were born on April Fool's Day. That should tell you something about how 'special' Sabby is." "Shut up, Warden. At least I didn't make dad miss the superbowl when I was born." "Hey, trust me, if there had been a choice on my side of when I got to be born, I would have waited until half-time, if only to save myself of having to hear about that each football season." "What? Dad's joke to mom about how un-pregnant she is whenever the game's on is old? Pfft. I love that joke. Get a sense of humor little bro" "Get a sense of reality, Sabrina" Your character is in a lull between conflicts/action. What do they do, or think about until the next Big Thing happens?
Your character is in a lull between conflicts/action. What do they do, or think about until the next Big Thing happens? Vyohn always tries to make time for a reasonable amount of R&R: reading, painting, listening to music, conversing and debating with loved ones and colleagues, and occasionally enjoying a nice glass (or two, or three) of potato whiskey. Otherwise, he spends the vast majority of his waking moments working toward his many, varied... goals; among them defending and enriching the lives of the people of the Corporation, if only as a means to an end. There was a time when Armada was a kind and warm young man, though never one of levity. But those days are long gone. Too many loved ones and comrades killed in the feuds of the settlement's formative years, and thereafter, some sent to their deaths by him personally - before and after Vyohn forcibly annexed it, subjugated the various factions and renamed it the Roth Estate, Parcel E7 (REPE7), or informally, the "Corporation", essentially washing away everything he'd lost and fought for his entire life. Now trapped between defending the only home he's ever known, and being subordinate to a plutocrat who (in his view) hasn't dirtied his hands in his life, let only is able to relate to his struggles and those who've given everything to make a life for themselves, Armada, in sum, is a pretty bitter and disillusioned person. However, although he fantasizes about leaving the Corporation and starting anew in the wild frontiers of the countryside, he really feels he has no choice but to carry on. What will it have all been for - all the pain, loss and sacrifice - if he gave up now? Accepting that his life's struggle has been pointless is more than he can bare, so essentially, he pours himself into his role as a special operative and field commander with feverish dedication - hoping that beyond merely defending his home, he will someday figure out how to take it back for himself. That said, he has little free-time, and what time he does is usually spent drinking, alone, and ruminating over every failure and mistake he's ever made. Reason tries to stay as oblivious to the ongoing conflict as possible, staying (relatively) safely within the confines of the Corporation. Not that he's unaware, he just likes things the way they are, and is reluctant to ponder otherwise. Which makes it kind of hard for him to relate to his numerous soldier friends, who regularly risk their lives against Feral and Patriot alike. He's quite gregarious, and when he's not busy tweaking and refining the AI that regulates much of the automated systems of the Corporation, he often wanders the streets, frequents the only pub and otherwise visits with people. Oh, and converses with Alex, the voice in his head and eternal companion. Lithius hunts, tortures and rapes. People. And eats them. Raw. Often the same barbarians who heed his every word, under the tacit threat of a brutal death, which regularly befalls them anyhow. But he prefers the soft, complacent Vanguard soldiers of the Corporation and their enemies, the Patriots. He's incredibly educated - his study of the world while a Roth Enclavist having led him to conclude that humanity is pitifully transient, and all high-minded endeavors undertaken are pointless and artificial. The worst shade of nihilism, in a sense. The only way of living that is natural (and thus righteous, in his mind), is that of an animal - a visceral state of barbarous power and predation, of domination and subjugation. So, despite being an erudite comparable to Vyohn himself, and although he does enjoy the very few encounters he has with people who are knowledgeable about the Old World (although he wouldn't admit it, and ends up killing them regardless), he fills any "lulls" between the action with more action, fulfilling his sadistic drive to hunt, to maim and destroy. His idea of recreation is not unlike that of a serial killer - on steroids. Basically. Nothing is the epitome of Lithius's ideal of human/animal nature: brutal, sadistic, nearly unable to speak, let alone think with any depth. He spends his free-time much like Lithius does. However, not being a behemoth like Lith (who's nearly 9 feet tall and over 400lbs) he's much more so an ambush attacker, and frequently wanders the urban wastes, lurking and searching for unsuspecting prey - including his fellow ferals. Your MC unexpectedly inherits a small fortune from a long estranged relative. What do they do with it?
G1: Ammo and gear. The remainder on cigars and fine spirits. G2: Ammo and gear. G3: A humanitarian charity of some kind. G4: Send it back. The only relatives that would leave money to him in their will are the kind that curse their currency. It's new year's eve. Where is your MC, who are they with and what are they doing?
It's new year's eve. Where is your MC, who are they with and what are they doing? Out partying, likely. Drinking? Maybe. They're with friends, of course. Your MC just wrote something embarrassing, without thinking and have managed to piss off a lot of people. What was the message? How did the people react? How does the MC react?
My MC has just sent word to her husband that the queen has begun to bleed again, and has horrid mood swings as a result. This letter is read by the nosey servant who reads all correspondence leaving the palace unknown to her. It stirs a back lash against the woman, the queen is furious and considers firing her but is talked down for the sake of the heir who, at the moment still needs the services of the wet nurse. It is recommended to flog her, and out of loyalty to his wife, the MC's husband steps forward to take the flogging. He, however does not come to the palace until his wounds have healed and is stern in his rebuke of his wife's correspondence with him. She feels horrid for the pain she's caused, and becomes quiet both in front of the queen and her husband hoping that eventually the stress will abate. O.k. my question...your MC finds him/herself in a sort of crop circle. What are their thoughts, and reactions?
She doesn't even know what a crop circle is. She sees that she is in a corn field and begins to panic, as she thinks she is back in the mid west and old Auntie's gonna shout her name and track her down and give her a whuppin. Panic makes her angry, so she starts cursing and tearing down corn husks. When crows caw in the distance, she decides the end is nigh and begins digging a hole in the ground to bury herself in. Your main character walks into Starbucks and there's a maniac in there knocking over coffee mugs and shouting about the apocalypse. What does he/she do?
Jonah Waters, who is the Devil: Looks at them with a bemused expression and awaits police. Your character is in a confessional. What do they confess to?
My character confesses to coveting, and taking. She does not confess what it was she coveted or took. When the priest says to return it, she merely says it is an impossibility. Your character walks into the restroom unaware that his/her parent is completely nude and climbing out of the shower.
Pierce: Zombie! (His parents are dead. Also, they don't have a shower in the restroom - midnight renovations? It can happen...) It's the end of the world. What's going on, where is your MC and what are they doing?
There is more likelihood of my MC receiving sexual favours from the Pope, than there is of him entering a confessional, much less making a voluntary confession of sinfulness, and in his particular case, perverse guilt, to a total stranger. However, were he to somehow suddenly and involuntarily disappear and re-materialize, trapped within the booth of contrition, he would undoubtedly react with aristocratic poise, and a resourcefulness worthy of the truly superior mind. He'd scream “Shit!” and run away.
Destruction of a planet? they probably caused it, and are having Champaign as they watch a planet be destroyed. How would your MC respond to being scammed?
How would your MC respond to being scammed? Mike Wolfletter was the one who did the scamming. He scammed everyone to stunned silence. Your MC is in love with someone of the same sex (let's pretend he/she is if he/she isn't), but is worried about how he/she will break it to that someone. They've gone out a few times, but not much.
