    Where and What?

Discussion in 'Setting Development' started by AJ Winters, Sep 21, 2012.

    Heya!

I need a building and its location for a novel of mine; it needs to be a public place (need lots of people to kill and injure mwa he ha) and there needs to be either a hotel/apartment building next to or close by this building so that my antagonist can see the destruction of it. Yeah, my antagonist orders his cronies to retrieve a father and daughter from the building (through a number of different ways) - of course, the two escape and building ends up getting destroyed.

I originally had the father and daughter in a mall somewhere in New York, but I'm not from the area and I'd really like a specific building that has a 'evil plan viewing' building next to/near it. If anyone can think of a different public area in New York, please feel free to comment!

Oh, and it does sort of have to be indoors, because the crony who begins the attack can control electricity (original eh?) so parks and areas, I think, would not work in this situation (Times Square, though, maybe?)

    All comments welcome,
    AJ

P.S. I hope I've posted this thread in the right place - please direct me to the correct one, if not. Thanks!

I think there's a hotel next to Grand Central Terminal, if that's the sort of building you're after? Otherwise maybe go on a google streetview tour round the department stores etc and see whether there are hotels around?

Use the Flatiron building in New York City. It is such an intriguing site.

I'd go for a Vegas casino or something of that ilk. :p

prettyprettyprettygood - Grand Central... hmm... that could work. Also, I will go ahead and have a look at Google street view; I never even thought about doing that.

Jamie Regent-Villiers - it is intriguing, but do huge crowds gather there everyday?

shaunpls - that would be fun, but I don't think my main character would take his teenage daughter into a Vegas Casino - also, I was trying to keep the scene in New York.
