Hey everyone, For a protagonist, which name do you prefer? Owen Dante or Logan Quinn? And why? My character is a bad boy, but not an evil guy.
Definitely Logan Quinn. Owen and Dante are both pretty uncommon in my neck of the woods. So hearing them, especially together, sounds like a writer who's trying too hard to make their character stand out. Plus, I know a couple of bad-boy Logans, so it's easy easy for me to picture. Edited to add: Actually, I take back my reason for not liking Owen Dante. Maybe it's just the arrangement. I definitely like Dante Owen better than Owen Dante. But I still like Logan Quinn better than either of them. Also, welcome to the forum. You may want to hop over to the newbies page and introduce yourself. Let us get a little more acquainted with you.
I've never heard Dante as a last name, to be honest, so that one seems a bit odd to me personally. Logan Quinn has a nice sound to it. I actually agree with Lea about liking Dante Owen too, hahah. Logan's a good bad boy name, makes me think of Wolverine.
I like both names. Obviously they don't necessarily fit the same character, but I still think both can work just as good (or bad).
Logan Quinn. It just seems to roll off the tongue easier than Owen Dante. If he was evil I would choose Owen.
I accidentally voted Logan Quinn, when I wanted to vote Owen Dante. But I'm being bias, since one of my MC's surname is also Quinn.
Yes, I agree that Owen Dante doesn't sound right. How about Dante Owen? Either name is fine, depending on what you do with it. Pick YOUR favourite, @mm777, and have fun.
I prefer Logan Quinn of the two. Owen Dante sounds awkward to say aloud - especially depending on the pronunciation used. I've a cat named Dante (pronounced as DAHN-tay) and tend to default to that whenever I see the name written. Even playing around with other pronunciations I don't think they flow very well with the forename Owen.
Thank you for the thoughts and feedback. I agree, I don't like Owen Dante as much as Logan Quinn. Dante Quinn is an interesting concept ... hadn't thought of that. Looks like Logan just found out he has a brother, lol
Logan Quinn sounds too much like "Algonquin" to me, and I don't like Owen Dante. But I don't mind them reversed, Quinn Logan or Dante Owens. But "Owens" needs an S, in my mind.
Owen Dante is so much better. Then add some references to The Divine Comedy and And Then There Were None and you'll have a masterpiece
Logan Quinn, although for some reason with only the thread title it struck me as a bit of a girls name. Dante as a surname I'm not a fan of, so I personally would probably go for Owen Quinn.
Add me to the minority who prefers Owen Dante. And tomorrow morning, if I read this, then I will probably say Logan Quinn. Just goes to show how subjective this sort of thing is.
Owen Dante rolls off the lips. Gives some sex appeal to maybe one of the young girls who's fawning over him, and according to your description, that may be perfect and just what he needs - a sexy name.
